When i was reading this i pictured Dr Phil as jim rennie, cillian murphy as junior, hugh jackman as barbie, patrick wilson as rusty, actors like the kids from super 8 playing the three kids and maybe katherin keener as julia shumway.

Yeah I don’t like Gandolfini for Rennie. This is a small town and he doesn’t seem small town in any of the roles I have seen him in. If you’ve ever seen Goodman in “In The Eletric Mist” you get a feel how he can play the biggest small fish in a small pond.

I agree with all of those except maybe Brenda Perkins. I think Kathy Bates would go best as Andrea Grinnell.

@Keith Wow you totally read my mind. I pictured John Goodman as Big Jim all through my listening to the audio book. Probably had something to do with the narrator’s accent for him but John Goodman could totally do that part. So if casting for the series is reading this…get John Goodman for big Jim.

If someone has to pull off a hicktown leader I dont know that Gandolfini is the one to do it. A John Goodman type could fit better. Being fixed on the villian in any case is seeming being the theme but capturing the story of kings storys/books has only been done right (In my opinon) a few times. Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Mist and Stand by me.

I think Big should be played by James Gandolfini, I love Thomas Jane as Barbi, I think Kathy Bates should be Brenda Perkins, Christian Bale as The Chef, Julia Roberts as Julia, and Michael C. Hall, as Junior.

totally agree, I really enjoyed this book, weirdness is expected from Stephen King, it would be disappointing if he wasn’t! people should refrain from summerising a novel, let the readers be their own judge.
