For those unfamiliar, the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) is an especially large-scale (and cost-heavy) dance event/music festival that - since it was originated in 1997 - has been held in locations ranging from Puerto Rico to such U.S. cities as Los Angeles and Dallas, as well as London, starting back in 2013.

Those who've either never heard of the EDC before, have never found the necessary time/funds to journey to the event in person, and/or are merely intrigued to learn more about it - fear not! The 3D documentary Under the Electric Sky is here, to offer you the safe, yet immersive and (fingers crossed) exhilarating, cinematic crash-course in what makes this celebration so unique and popular. Under the Electric Sky is an immersive 3D documentary that explores the allure of the EDM (electronic dance music) phenomenon as told through the experiences of six different groups among the nearly 350,000 festivalgoers attending the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) 2013 in Las Vegas.These moving personal stories are set against a soundtrack that includes globally renowned artists such as Afrojack, Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buren, Avicii, Hardwell, and Tiësto. The lights, lazers, art, and confetti from EDC make you feel like you’re a part of the experience.

Under the Electric Sky was co-directed by Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz (Katy Perry: Part of Me). Judging by the trailer footage, the pair combined somewhat more polished camerawork with proper guerrilla filmmaking methods, in order to provide viewers with an up close and personal feel of the EDC proceedings. The movie doesn't exactly seem to have an impartial outlook on the events it's documenting, but then again these sorts of cinematic concert experience are foremost meant to provide... well, an experience, using the camera lens. In that regard, Under the Electric Sky might be worth checking out, when it hits a local theater.

Under the Electric Sky is already out in the U.K. and will begin showing at fan-created event screenings in the U.S., beginning on May 29th, 2014.
