The good folks over at Latino Review have the scoop on an update for the film adaptation for the successful and critically acclaimed video game, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

As it turns out, Kyle Ward, the man originally hired to pen the script has been dropped by Sony due to his contractual obligations to other projects (Hitman 2, Kane & Lynch). Sony wasn’t interested in delaying or waiting so they’ve brought in the pair of writers behind the Conan reboot: Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer.

As any aware gamer knows, Uncharted and its sequel are developed Naughty Dog, and published by Sony Computer Entertainment only for PlayStation 3.

To find out more about the game and this film project, head over to Game Rant.

What do you think about the potential for this movie?

  1. This has the potential to make a decent movie, but it seems largely self serving as the game is essentially just a movie that you happen to have control of.

Personally, I’d love to see Assassin’s Creed 2 made into a movie.

  2. “successful and critically acclaimed video game”

Over 2 million in sales…. I guess. Game had issues to include it being way to short and a number of aiming/AI issues.

Someone give me a few million so I can attempt to make a great video game into a great movie.

Gordon Freeman needs to hit the big screen.

  3. Agree with DrSamBeckett,
this really does not need to be turned into a movie. Unless to satisfy the craving of psycho fanboys by having Nathan Filion be the lead.
That is one way to piss off a fanboy, talk trash about Nathan Fillion.
Now, The Suffering, THAT needs to be turned into a movie.

  4. I work in the electronics dept. of a big Midwestern chain of general merchandise stores clustered about the Great Lakes region…and had the most HILARIOUS encounter regarding Uncharted 2. Some guy comes in a week ago, ’roundabout 3am (We’re open 24 hours a day), wants Uncharted 2 for the XBOX 360 system; the problem is, simply, that Uncharted 2 is made (as the cover clearly says) exclusively for PS3.

Well, the young lad was not to be deterred from his goal, no sir…he rather profanely demanded that I scurry my lazy [3-letter-word for "rectum"] into the back room, where he KNOWS that I’m hiding the copies of Uncharted 2 for the XBOX 360!

(Quick aside: Exactly HOW would my employer profit from me hiding the game, hmmm?)

So, not being satisfied with my repetitious denials, “Sparky” decides to go look for himself, and beelines for the big gray double-doors leading to the storage area…I call out to him, warn him that this would not be in his best interests…and he bursts through the double-doors and sets off the LOUDEST freaking alarm in the area in the process.

So he came to get a game…got arrested instead.

  5. @ Dan Lister

wut part did the guy didnt understand the ONLY ON PLAYSTATION part he didnt get

  6. Nathen drake could be the new Indiana jones :)

  7. Not sure if it was the “Only”, the “On”, or the “Playstation”

  8. @ Sam beckett

    Ubi-Soft is making there own minisodes/movie of Assassin’s Creed/Assassin’s Creed 2.

    @ Dan Lister

I hate to have seen what would of Happened if he tried to get God of War 2 or the remastered God of War Collection that is only for PS2/3 respectively. XBOX = SUCK

  9. @ SIN187UM-Well, you know…we, the retail distribution folks just have a natural bias against selling ANYTHING, right?

    [*smirking sarcastically*]

  10. the guy who played nathan in the motion capture suit and did the voice looks too old to play in the movie
