DON’T worry folks, this is very very low on the spoiler meter or I wouldn’t post it otherwise. When I heard earlier today that there was a new clip from The Dark Knight out that actually showed Two-Face, my reaction was “Come ON! Didn’t we get enough pre-release spoilage from the Iron Man campaign?”
Ah, but not to fear, we get the barest glimpse here and from almost all the way behind the character. What I really like about this clip is that it almost looks like it’s lifted from The Godfather instead of from a superhero summer blockbuster movie.

I really think this movie is going to raise the bar for superhero flicks even higher than Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk have already.

Well, it’s not like the pre-release spoilage hurt Iron Man’s numbers… but I did like how they handled this clip. I was actually wondering if they’ll actually reveal Two-Face fully before the movie though – I’ve already seen a photo leak of how he looks on the ‘net, and he looks grotesque for sure. Keeping that in mind, I think they may keep in mind that showing Two-Face’s mug in ads might only discourage people (mostly parents with their kids) from seeing the film, heh.
Anyway, nice clip. One thing I liked about Iron Man was that most of the time it didn’t quite feel like a superhero movie, but just another good movie. It looks like Dark Knight may go in that direction a little bit as well.
The problem with the Iron Man campaign was that it told pretty much the entire plot of the movie. It also showed bits from every single action sequence in the film which left no surprises.
The thing I like about TDK’s campaign is despite all the footage we’ve seen (granted, not as much as with IM) we still don’t really have a concrete idea of the overall arc of the story, nevermind the details.

I’m glad that they don’t spoil the story! And this clip again just shows how mature they’re handling this movie, and I love it. This really feels like a good Dark movie, like it should be.

Hmm. I think there were still surprises aplenty especially from the ending of the movie (we only had glimpses of Iron Man and Iron Monger in battle and had no idea how that would go down).
Anyway, the biggest joy in watching Iron Man was just to watch it all from beginning to end. We knew it was going to be awesome after the advertisements, and it was. I’m not sure people would have been as excited otherwise if they didn’t feel like they had a sense that the plot was gonna be just as good as Downey Jr., the look of the Iron Man armor, etc.
We’ve seen what lack of advertising has done to Incredible Hulk, only $55 million the first weekend. People started knowing about it too late, and didn’t get excited soon enough.
But compare the story plotlines as revealed in the advertising between Hulk and Dark Knight right now and it’s pretty similar… what wrong for Hulk, then? DK does have three advantages over it, though, the fans loved Nolan’s first movie, what the death of Heath Ledger has done for its publicity, and Batman’s popularity in the first place.
I’m starting to ramble here but I guess my point is just that the Iron Man campaign I think was excellent for gaining attention for that movie, and DK doesn’t need it as much. And Hulk sure did.
I’m just hoping the action choreography will match the dialogue writing in excellence this time.
Dude I think this is the best example of how awesomely Nolan knows how to edit a film. I have high expectations for every scene in this movie.

I’m glad they are intro-ing him this movie. I hope he’s not a villain in this movie thoough, I thought he was to be introed for the sequel?
I cannot wait. Seriously, I am probably more excited about this movie than I was when they released Star Wars Episode 1, lets hope this doesn’t disappoint me so.

this looks phenomenal; I almost think I’d sit still through it even if it ends up being 152 minutes
