What did YOU think of the premiere: ‘Two And A Half Men’ Season 9 Premiere Review & Discussion
With the taping of the Two and Half Men season 9 premiere completed, details are beginning to leak out about the previously-rumored death of Charlie Sheen’s character, Charlie Harper – and they’re even more gruesome than originally thought.
In late July, it was reported that not only was Chuck Lorre set on killing off Harper from the series (to make sure that Sheen could never return), but that he was going to make the death, well, violent.
Originally, sources close to the series said that Lorre was set on having Harper drive off a cliff, but after the Two and a Half Men season 9 premiere taping, the real cause of death was revealed – and it’s much, much worse than a simple “cliff jump”:
Charlie is going to be murdered by being pushed in front of a subway car, and his body literally explodes from the impact.
According to those at the taping, here’s how Charlie Harper’s death happens:
- In the Two and a Half Men season 8 finale, Harper flew off to Paris with Rose – his neighbor/stalker.
- Harper and Rose got married (during the fictional summer), but the relationship took a turn for the worse when she found him with another woman in the shower.
- The day after catching Harper in the shower with another woman, they were waiting for the Paris subway when Harper “slipped” in front of a moving car where his body blew apart upon impact.
- It’s implied that Rose pushed Harper in front of the subway and got away with his murder.
Wait. Two and a Half Men is a comedic sitcom, right? How is murder, a graphic explanation of his death, and a funeral of the main character supposed to be funny? Or even humorous? Short answer: it’s not.
Not only will all of this “hilarious comedy” serve to present a deserving return to television, but then Ashton Kutcher must jump in as the “lonely internet billionaire” who buys Charlie’s house after the funeral.

When news first broke regarding Lorre’s intentions to kill Sheen, the fans of Two and a Half Men weren’t all too happy. Considering that news was only about driving off a cliff, one can rightly assume that their reaction to this will be much worse.
Fortunately, there’s at least one person that’s happy to hear about Charlie Harper exploding: Charlie Sheen.
Shortly after the news of his character’s death was revealed, Sheen told TMZ, “I am honored that it took something as large and violent as an oncoming train to terminate my character.” Quickly adding, “Anything less would have been an insult!”
While this type of news is more-or-less fun to pick apart – outside of any direct regards to the development of a television series that hundreds are employed by – when one thinks about the path that Lorre has decided to take, it’s hard not to be concerned. For all of the problems that Sheen caused (and he caused many), he always noted that his intentions were to do the best show he could – and from all counts, that’s exactly what Sheen did (no matter what state he was in).
With Sheen gone and Ashton Kutcher taking his place, it appears that Lorre has forgone any type of logical plot progression – especially on a comedic sitcom. Instead of focusing on how to make the best series with what he has left – which is extremely hard in its own right – Lorre is taking unneeded risks in order to provide himself with some type of passive aggressive relief.
At a certain point, one has to ask this question: Is Lorre hurting the series more now than Sheen ever was in the past?
I think some would say “yes.“

I liked it. I don’t think this episode was as good as in previous seasons. But I don’t think it has anything to do with Charlie Sheen not being in it. Granted, Sheen was great, but as long as the writing of the shows are just as good, I think they can make it work with Ashton Kutcher. I think the problem with the premiere was that Chuck Lorre and the writing staff were naturally pissed off with Charlie Sheen, but instead of putting it behind them and trying to move on I think they have got a vendetta against him, and they wanted Charlie’s death to be a type of writers revenge. But I think they put too much effort into making the episode last minute revenge plot, and that took away from the actual plot. Hopefully after this episode Charlie and Chuck’s little feud will be over, and Chuck Lorre won’t be so focused on getting revenge, and he’ll be able to put his focus back on the quality of the show. Then I think “Two and a Half Men” will be able to get back to the show it once was. I just think it may take a bit for most fans to get used to not having Charlie Sheen in it anymore. After all, he was in the lead role for eight seasons.
ASIANS CAN ACTUALLY READ MINDS!!!!!!!!!!!
they can hear and see what your visually thinking
this is the complete truth
the reason alot of asians have completely expressionless faces, only associate with asians and dont associate with non asians very much, and are very unfriendly in general is to avoid accidentally revealing that they can read minds, if all over a billion asians were to show facial expressions all the time just as much as non asians, associate with non asians much more, and be much more friendly and talkative, then alot of them might accidentally reveal that they can read minds by accidentally showing a facial expression or dirty look when someone thinks, or visually pictures something in their mind they dont like or find astonishing or funny because those people might see that and really wonder what that was that just happened there and see the connection, and if they were all to associate with non asians alot more there would be alot more people around for them to accidentally show facial expressions when those other people think things they dont like etc, so they only associate with asians so there wont be anyone around for them to see that and have any accidents happen in the first place
think about it, its not normal how alot of them act, and the entire way they act is all to hide their mind reading abilities, it makes perfect sense to do all of that to hide that they can read minds, because all of that is the perfect way to do it!
every single asian on the planet is hiding their mind reading abilities, they will lie about having mind reading abilities forever!
because they value hiding their mind reading abilities more then their own lives!
thats why nobody knows about it!
try thinking, best yet visually picturing in your mind something something absolutely crazy as you possibly can when you are around asians, and try looking for asians who give people particular looks, especially dirty looks for what appears to be for completely no reason, that is them giving people looks when they hear and visually see someone thinking something they dont like, find funny or astonishing
it still happens despite a large number of them having completely expressionless faces all the time, it would just happen alot more if none of them had completely expressionless faces all the time, its not uncommon!
i know this sounds crazy, impossible, and completely unbelievable, BUT IT ISNT CRAZY WHEN ITS TRUE
the reason you think this truly is crazy, impossible and unbelieveable is because our society has propagandized people into believing that nothing extra ordinary is real and that is really is impossible, and that its crazy to think that its true that people can read minds, all just to cover up that asians can read minds! who says that cant exist? the people who have mind reading abilities who are trying to cover it up!
you have to spread the message!!!
the world has to know about this!!!!
i didnt know they allowed inmates to use the computers in insane asylums
I want Charlie Sheen back for good. I don’t care what it takes. I’ve seen the reruns long enough to recite them from memory. My friends all agree. He makes all the other actors better at their characters. Hurry, before it’s too late!
They have now officially jumped the shark..
Jumped the shark??????
I think he ate and crapped it out.
I hated that there was no sadness at the funeral – “Alan” would have been sad – there was no bevel of any of Charlies’s ex’s it was stupid – and the editing was so terrible – I think a better idea is if Charlie could have had a spin off – married to Rose with the maid/housekeeper moving with them (cannot remember the characters name) I realize another network or company would have had to do this – but I think that would have been a GREAT show.
i think that charile sheen i miss him so much
I think losing Charlie is going to hurt the show. Ashton is good but Alan and Jake moving out sucks. This was an award winning show so far it’s just another show now that’s nor all that funny.
Sorry. Ashton Kutcher seems like a nice guy but who wants a nice guy in this role. Charlie is wry, smart, and funny.
so I watched the show last nite for the first time. I think Ashton would have been a great addition to the show while Charlie was still on. He could have been the extremely handsome but somewhat dorky, childlike cousin.
The way they portray Ashton he appears very innocent. Is Alan going to be the heavy weight? I miss Charlie. I will say Demi Moore is a very lucky woman. I always thought Ashton had a great face I didn’t realize his body is also hot and I’m in my 60′s (early).
being a fan of Asthon since the beginning of T70S, I can honestly stay without prejudice that the only funny part of watching the nudist happy Kutcher replace Sheen was the Chuckle after the implication of Rose causing Charlie’s death.
What I’d rather see is a class action lawsuit on behalf of the cast and the crew, and everyone else involved in the show after it tanks. The basis for this would be that they are entitled to compensation for income that would have been earned had the producer not made the decision to fire the show’s star with no legitimate cause.
That would be interesting to see play out.
Amen to that!!! Well said.
I found last weeks episode boring. The best part is when Ashton walks around shirtless. I don’t know how long this innocent boy act can last and hold audience attention. Charlie always had witty things to say. i miss it.
I will continue to watch the show and give it a fair chance.
the show sucks now with ummm, what’s his name, oh-ashton kutcher. the worst. they royally screwed up bringing him on the show. why would they pay that no talent ass more than they would “Alan Harper” who has been on the show since the beginning. If I were Jon Cryer, I’d walk away with his dignity. This pathetic attempt to keep Two and a Half Men alive is just that, PATHETIC!!!!!
SO YOU WANT TO PAY CRYER A MILLION OF BUCKS PER EPISODE HE HAS A NAME THANKS TO CHARLIE HE WAS A NOBODY BEFORE THM. THE SHOW WAS CHARLIE KEEP CRYER WITHOUT ASHTON AND I GARANTED THE SHOW SHOULD CANCEL AFTER 3 EPISODES
Charlie Harper IS Two and a Half Men
I came to dislike Charlie Sheen as a man – a narcissistic drug addict – but enjoyed Two and a Half Men as the writing had him playing well off those of “Alan,” “Jake,” “Berta,” “Rose,” and “Mom.” Now that Ashton Kutcher (the weak child body)is in the lead, I shall no longer follow. Do not get me wrong, Charlie needed to go because he thought he was bigger than the show – he wasn’t. However, Kutcher was the wrong actor to put in his stead. I’ll miss the antics of Jon Cryer, Angus T. Jones, Conchata Ferrell, Melanie Lynskey, and Holland Taylor but won’t watch them dragged to their doom by Kutcher with Lorre trying to buoy him up.
When I found out that Ashton Kutcher was replacing Charlie Sheen in the Show I wrote CBS and informed them that they are the dumbest Network ever. I also professed my unending hatred for Kutcher and Vowed to Never watch the Show again… and I have Not and Will Not watch it, even out of morbid curiosity. Kutcher is a Bad Choice for Any Show, Film or other form of Acting. He is nothing more than an egocentric moron with no talent and good connections. As Jackie Burkhart’s character in “that 70′s Show” once said of Him: “He is a BOY and is not capable of having an Adult relationship or even an Adult thought.”. She was so right. CBS could have chosen a thousand other Actors to replace Charlie Sheen, including his real life Brother Emilio Estevez and it would have been acceptable. A Note to Emma: Charlie was not only Bigger than the Show, Charlie was the entire show. His Character, Charlie Harper, was in actuality an on screen visage of the Real Charlie Sheen. It was his life with a different last name and if you never noticed that you were not paying attention. Charlie Harper ALWAYS had a Drink in his hand and his hands on a Woman. That is Charlie Sheen’s life in a nutshell. The Script writers came up with fun and interesting ideas for episodes but, Charlie Ad-Libbed so many scenes and made them funnier that it would be impossible to recreate that with any other actor… period. CBS should have cancelled the show once they cancelled Charlie Sheen. It is not a show that can live without him.
Charlie S. you make my point for me very well. It is exactly that Charlie Sheen was simply being Charlie Sheen (not pretty sight) and not acting at all. How sad that all a man thinks life can be is a drink in his hand and a woman in his bed. As for the adlibbing – again you make my point – Charlie Sheen thought HE was the show and he simply was not. If the show fails it will not be because of Jon, Angus, Conchata and the other original cast members, but because of the poor choice Lorre has made in placing the Demi-boy Kutcher on the show. Attempting to live vicariously through a TV character is pitiable.
@Emma
Charlie Sheen was bigger than the show. He was the show. The whole show was a fictionalized version of his life.
Every added character was only accentuate the humor from Charlie. His brother, mother, nephew and love interest were all created to maintain chemistry with Charlie’s — first and foremost.
Two and a Half Men died the second Charlie left. The only way to havd kept the show going (successfully) would be to replace the show with another Charlie as all the established characters were made for him.
This comment that I am replying to is my EXACT thought’s….Two & A Half Men is NEVER gonna be the same again without Charlie Sheen and until they decide to beg him to come back I know for a fact that they will FLOP!…Ashton Kutcher?…Out of all the male actors on God’s green earth, they pick a dingbat!!!…What the hell is that BS?…Ashton Kutcher would not make a pimple on Charlie Sheen’s rear end…Plain & Simple!…That 70′s show is a great place for Ashton NOT Two & A Half Men!…I think any & everyone that was a diehard fan of Two & A Half Men should boycot and refuse to watch it until they get Charlie back on the show…Without HIM,that show will NEVER make it or be the same!…So freakin depressing.
P.S.: If “Two and a Half Men” lasts more than 13 weeks with its current Cast it will just prove that TV Fans have become so stupid that the term “Boob Tube” has become Fact and not just a witty quote. It is a Sad Day for Television.
i don’t like it at all…. I am one of the easiest people to make laugh and i sat there with my jaw open. saying what the hell is this . I won’t be watching it anymore bring charlie back Charlie and jon cryer make the show bring him back and get rid of chuck lorrie
I hope the show goes under
Dear Charlie I will miss you the new Guy can’t play as well as you do.I hope that you will clean yourself up becouse your shuch a friendly guy. Please stay nice, stay strong & don’t get in no more troble please. Mimi
I
Dear Charlie. I miss you soo that new Guy can’t do it well at you maybe he’s well in Moveis as a child but your soo better at your best work I cryed when you died! Please get better clean yourself up & please stay out of troble stay strong. Mimi
I said I would watch the show with an open mine. I did but I am not finding the show very funny anymore.
I like Ashton, he would have been a fresh face while Charlie was still on the show. It would have been fun with Ashton as he is portrayed as innocent and boyish with Charlie as he was, very cool. The show needed something new, but without Charlie it sucks. Jake sure turned out cute, perhaps he will be the one to be the new cool Charlie.
I think although the show is not the same without Sheen they did the right thing. I’m sure they put up with enough B.S. to justify getting rid of Sheen. You can’t make all the people involved with the show wait on rehab stints and drunken drugged up binges to end over and over and not expect consequences. They put up with enough and I’m glad they canned his butt. It sends the right message. Not that Sheen needs the money but you don’t see Hollywood beating down his door for parts aside from the Comedy Central Roast which was pretty freaking funny. He’s an ego maniac and I’m glad they cut him down but it is a shame the fans are the one who suffer. Hopefully he doesn’t snort/drink/shoot/gamble up all of his money because i think his career is done. It’s a miracle he hasn’t overdosed already. I do however envy his ability to buy prostitutes and porn stars. It gives young boys hope that dreams can come true.
I understand that Charlie is getting a new show. not sure when its starting or the name of it but it is a comedy. I wish him well, you can’t ever have to much money and I wish Two and Half men well as well.
ive been watching the new season dude and as weird as is is to watch without charlie in it i have to admit that the writting is still funny and i dont think you should commit suicide over a silly sit com
