Astronaut's Wife had some problems (what film doesn't?), but over all I think it's been unfairly maligned. It has some very interesting cinematography and the performances were superb. It's basically a story about an abusive marriage disguised as sci-fi monster movie. If you forget the sci-fi angle you're better off. The usually likable Depp turns our expectations upside down by using all that charm and beauty to sucker us into the clutches of a soulless controlling sociopath. Charlize Theron is wonderful as the tormented wife who can't decide if the evil is real or in her head. If you've ever been in that situation or know someone who has, you'll recognize the surreal and disconnected nature of her character's situation and just how perfectly Depp hits the nail on the head. They do a beautiful job of setting up an incredible intimacy between these people, so when it starts to unravel, we question what we're seeing just as she does. I basically just see the sc-fi angle as an allegory of the "monster" that can emerge from any of us under the right (or wrong) circumstances.

This could be a series of movies, like James Bond. They could be something like The Twilight Zone: 30,000 Feet, The Twilight Zone: Wishes, The Twilight Zone: Mars, etc...

I love the Twilight Zone! And I agree the marathons are awesome. I have never heard of the Johnny Depp movie, but I often disagree with Rotten Tomatoes...
