Twilight Snags Harry Potter’s Release Date

Well it looks like Hollywood abhors a vacuum.
It took all of 24 hours for another movie to swoop in and occupy the date formerly occupied by Harry Potter 6. And while those fans are steaming, another set of fans are going to be very, very happy. A highly anticipated movie is now going to open a full month sooner than expected…
Twilight.
Queue high pitched screaming and squeals of delight. 
Originally Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was scheduled to open on November 21, 2008 but yesterday was pushed back eight months to July 2009. Scheduling release dates is a chess game between studios, vying for not only the ideal weekend but scheduling blockbusters far apart enough so that one film does not deprive another of precious box office dollars.
So having a huge film like Harry Potter vacate a cherished Thanksgiving opening must have started a feeding frenzy at other studios. Well Summit Entertainment wasted no time occupying that slot, announcing today that Twilight would now hit movie theaters a full month ahead of schedule on that same date.
So while Potter fans mourn, Twilight fans rejoice.
Twilight (now) opens on Nov. 21st, 2008.

Harry Potter was moved because they wanted a summer release so I guess Twilight just took the spot. Why not?
Twilight was orignally supposed to be a small indie film. It was a VERY LOW BUDGET one at that. So, of course it wasn’t that good as Harry Potter. But since I’m a fan, I still loved it no matter.
I’m really looking forward to the next Harry Potter movie though and of course it will be better than Twilight was. x)
I find it kinda funny how people are so angry they vox not to see Twilight just because Harry Potter got moved back. First it’s not Twilight’s fault. The producers or whoever decided they wanted to open later so they changed the date. All Twilight did was take the date that was then available. BTW, it’s just movies! Don’t have to go make a big deal out of it. I got an idea… Go do something.
oh i love twilight!! its a love story…from my point of view..mostly ladys like it…because edward is such a perfect boyfriend…hmm HP..i dont really know…but i think Twilight is better…

I watched Twilight & read all the books; Not near as good as Harry Potter ! Yes twilight is indeed very good . But i think Harry Potter is wayy better . Harry Potter gives more imagination . Twilight is just another remake of how vampires live and act . Very expected . Harry Potter on the other hand is soo unexpected and fun ! Harry Potter has my vote . And i dont think it was fair for them to move the date .

.don’t compare that twilight to the legendary harry potter cause that twilight just got its instant fame because of it’s more on romance. come to think of it, obviously, harry potter has a far better plot.

twilight fricken sucks compared to harry poter the harry potter books are much better and the movies are actually good and go along with the books unlike twilight that sucks with every shot so close to there faces that i had to leave the movie theatre that it sucked so bad. hopefully new moon and eclipse and breaking dawn are much better. it is not the actors that suck it was the director of twilight that was terrible but harry potter is the best books ever written and that will never change
Twilight is the second best movie I have ever seen. The Harry Potter is actually the best movie I have ever seen. What I’m wondering is why won’t the Twilight fans leave the Harry Potter fans and Harry Potter alone? How would you feel if you got picked on by fans. That is probebly how they feel. So do the Harry Potter fans and Harry Potter a favor, stop picking on them Twilight fans and Twilight characters.

Harry Potter is way better in my opinion. If they didn’t move the date Twilight wouldn’t have come out so soon. Twilight is just a dumb, boring love story between a vampire and a mortal. Harry Potter actually is not boring and has unexpected scenes. So Harry Potter has my vote. TWILIGHT SUCKS! TWILIGHT SUCKS!
i like both harry potter and twilight. i first read the twilight books, and i was so obsessed with them, but i got over it. now i’m reading harry potter and i think it is better because it’s a bit more exciting. i’m not saying twilight sucks cause i like it, but harry potter is better. i think why most ppl r in love with twilight is just because they like edward. i really like both so i don’t really care that harry potter got moved back, cause it’s still going to come out, right?
