Well it looks like Hollywood abhors a vacuum.
It took all of 24 hours for another movie to swoop in and occupy the date formerly occupied by Harry Potter 6. And while those fans are steaming, another set of fans are going to be very, very happy. A highly anticipated movie is now going to open a full month sooner than expected…
Twilight.

Queue high pitched screaming and squeals of delight. 
Originally Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was scheduled to open on November 21, 2008 but yesterday was pushed back eight months to July 2009. Scheduling release dates is a chess game between studios, vying for not only the ideal weekend but scheduling blockbusters far apart enough so that one film does not deprive another of precious box office dollars.
So having a huge film like Harry Potter vacate a cherished Thanksgiving opening must have started a feeding frenzy at other studios. Well Summit Entertainment wasted no time occupying that slot, announcing today that Twilight would now hit movie theaters a full month ahead of schedule on that same date.
So while Potter fans mourn, Twilight fans rejoice.
Twilight (now) opens on Nov. 21st, 2008.

The “Land of the Lost” movie, could have also have something to do with HP, moving to 2009.

As if… it can’t be. I was looking forward to mr Potter coming back. Nevermind. I will not be seeing this Twilight movie though, daytime vampires. Never.

I am thrilled that Twilight will be released sooner! I do feel bad for potter fans though, that’s a long time to wait.

Snaps for Summit. A very smart move in my opinion. And the positive response is very heartening. And it also means that they (Catherine and the cast, etc…) can get started immediately after the release of Twilight on the pre-production of New Moon…
The three week jump to November also means we get to see Robert Pattinson in this role that much sooner! I’m very excited to see the final result of his characterization of this role……..Plus, with Twilight moving up, it will give his other films, How To Be and Little Ashes a better jumping off point to get their films a wider release. )I’m actually a bit more excited to see the latter two films, than I am about Twilight.)
However all three of these films will not disappoint any of us who are floored by the talent this actor possesses. I’m looking forward to everything his career brings him. I know nothing short of greatness will come his way!

Vic your the only one I trust for this mission…. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can you find out the UK release date for Twilight. It’s driving me crazy that I can’t seem to find out anywhere when we in the UK can see this movie. I do feel sorry that Harry Potter has been bumped, but if Twilight was to show in the UK on 21 November I would be one VERY happy Screen Rant fan…
Well Vic it looks like I may have beet you on this one, (I never expected that to happen) but I found an artical that stated Twilight will be airing in uk cinemas 9th January 2009… Thats unless you know differant…..

Hi Vic, I have just read on line that Twilight release date has now been moved to 19th December 08, This is great news if true. Any chance you can confirm this ‘to make my day’ cheers Vic.
I haven’t heard anything about them moving the release date yet again.

i don’t know, i’m an hp fan all the way, so i might consider going to twilight’s midnight showing…..robert pattinson [[cedric diggory!]] is in it after all…
I think that either way I’m happy. I like both book series’. In a way I’m not too upset about HP being moved because they messed up big time in #5, while Twilight is just starting up.
Hi Vic, the IMDB now has the UK release date as 19th December. This is great news, we here in the UK don’t have to wait right untill next year.

I myself am a HP fan! but i read twilight this year for the first time this year, i thought twilight was gonna suck but i ended up falling in love with it!!!<3 i am so sorry that you guys have to almost wait a year but it was way too much competition. I support both sides of Hp and Twilight but i think Twilight is gonna make more money than Harry Potters Half Blooded Prince…

grrrrr I cried when I found this out on the news. I actually considered not seeing Twilight (A/N: I LLOOOOOVE TWILIGHT I WAS JUST MAD THAT THEY STOLE HP’S SPOT) but im still gonna see Twilight. I just love Harry Potter more! <3

*sigh* unfortunatly, anahi, as I have read both series of books, but am a bigger fan of harry potter… I must go see Twilight! I doubt my life will ever be complete if I don’t. I love Twilight with all of my heart. But I love Harry Potter with a total of 100000 hearts. I must go see Twilight, even though I am mad at it for stealing Harry’s spot…I am a big fan.
