Today we have a couple of Twilight Saga news items – but unfortunately it’s a good news/bad news kind of situation. Advanced tickets go on sale for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse soon, while the fourth movie, Breaking Dawn, is reportedly being held up by money-hungry cast members.

Eclipse Early Ticket Sales

The Hollywood Reporter has the news that two major online ticket retailers, Fandango and Movie Tickets, will begin selling tickets for Eclipse six weeks in advance, employing a similar technique as Warner Bros. with itsย Sex and the City 2 (another movie that will have a largely female audience).

Although websites for major theater chains will link to Fandango and Movie Tickets, ticket selling at actual theaters won’t begin until a lot closer to the release of Eclipse at the end of June. The reason Eclipse advance tickets are being sold so soon is partly in response to a poll on Fandango‘s website, which revealed that 36% of 14,000 responses (that’s 5,040 for you non-math whizzes ๐Ÿ˜› ) named Eclipse as their most anticipated summer movie.

And here we are at Screen Rant – writers and readers alike – falling over ourselves to see movies like Inception and The Last Airbender

A Fandango spokesman, Harry Medved, had this to say:

“The latest trailer has gotten great buzz among the fan sites as there’s clearly a lot more fast-paced action this time around… There’s also great curiosity about seeing some of ‘The Twilight Saga’s’ new characters coming to life on the big screen for the first time.”

Many people around the blogosphere have been trying to predict which films are going to take top prize at the summer 2010 box office, with Iron Man 2 and Toy Story 3 listed as early favorites. Will Eclipse beat out both of those films and rake in the most dough this summer? We’ll be keeping an eye on these advanced ticket sales for an early indication.

Advance tickets go on sale for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse at Fandango and Movie Tickets on Thursday, May 13th at midnight. The movie itself hits theaters on June 30th, 2010. Will you be buying your tickets in advance?

Breaking Dawn Hold-Up

Now that you’ve gotten your good news, I’m afraid we have to move on to the bad news: According to THR, Esq., some of the Twilight Saga supporting actors are being sticks in the mud by holding out for more money than is being offered.

Deals are close to being in place for main cast members Kirsten Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner (they were only signed for four films, and now Breaking Dawn is being split in two). Deals are already done for supporting actors like Peter Facinelli (Carlisle Cullen) and Billy Burke (Bella’s father).

However, the actors and actresses who portray the Cullen kids – Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene are singled out in particular – are holding things up by trying to get bigger paydays for Breaking Dawn. Reportedly Summit’s offer is about 10 times what those actors previously earned, but the figures were deemed “offensive” because of the money the franchise has made. It might even get to the point where “one of them is thrown out on the street to make a point.”

Despite Summit making an absolute fortune on The Twilight Saga – so far on relatively small budgets – the studio isn’t willing to pay a hefty chunk of change for actors who only play supporting roles.ย Just look at Rachelle Lefevre: She played the vengeful Victoria in Twilight and New Moon but was replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard for Eclipse, supposedly due to money and scheduling issues.

Although Summit is definitely eager to get things moving as quickly as possible with Breaking Dawn, they can’t really do so until deals for at least the main cast members are signed. But I don’t think the same can be said for the supporting actors. I wouldn’t be surprised if we soon hear news that Lutz or Greene (and unnamed others) are up for replacement the same way as Lefevre was.

After all, the fans might be a bit upset at first, but really it’s Stewart, Pattinson and Lautner that they care about keeping in their respective roles. I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of a Twilighter’s outburst if any of those three were replaced…

On a side note, it’s still looking very likely that Breaking Dawn will be split into two movies, released a year apart from one another, but nothing is official yet. Sources say there’s still a chance it could just be one movie, as Summit is holding on to that option. But sources say they’d be shocked if it wasn’t split in two – “This thing is gonna’ be two movies… with or without the cast intact.”

What do you think of all this hold-up business: should these supporting actors be allowed to demand such high salaries or should they be replaced for their greed?

If all goes to plan, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn will be shot back-to-back this Fallย under the direction of Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) with Part 1 being released in November 2011 and Part 2 released one year later in November 2012.

  1. Lutz and Greene are being offered more then they would normally on lower budget projects .
Being part of this Franchise is an enormous opportunity .
They should just take the best that they they can get.
There is no such thing as equal pay in acting .
    It is sad but true.

    • I just hate the way they look in New Moon and in the trailer for Eclipse. They made them look like FREAKS. On this page there is a picture from Twilight when they are in the lunch room at the table. They blend in and look ‘normal’…maybe pale but we all know why. Okay, now they look like botox filled emotionless big golden eyed wierdos. When I watch Carlisle, Alice and Edward on screen their appearance is so distracting it really takes away from the scene. IMO get rid of the make-up artists, pay the actors what they are worth, and make a movie that is worth paying for.

  2. edward is tooooooooooooooo cute and handsome without him twilight is sooooooooooooooooooooo boaring

  3. I should point out that most actors think that they are worth MILLIONS!

  4. I think that the actors and actresses should not get greedy. They are a part of something huge but they could get fired just like Rachelle. I would want to keep my job. If Edward, Jacob, or Bella’s characters are switched out with different actors then I am done with the whole thing. I really like all the actors and I do not like change so I hope they all stay in it.

  5. well i think without alice and emmit the movie would be a let down they play an important part in the story pay them

  6. Wish the character Victoria was not replaced in Eclipse. Rachelle LeFevre was perfect and should have remained in the role. It is important that the actors remain the same through the entire franchise.

  7. i hope that the characters that were in twilight [arts 1 and 2 and edward is sooooooo cute but jacob is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fine and i love the way u act and bella at least share 1n of them 2 with me

  8. I sooooo hope they make two movies out of the last book, just wish they’d release them closer together. Especially for us “more mature” fans.

If the franchise is makiing a killing on these movies it wouldn’t hurt them to pay the supporting cast more. Alice and Jasper are important to these movies, please don’t ruin it by firing them. It just wouldn’t be the same without Ashley Greene and Basil Rathbone. Please please don’t be so greedy, pay the actors what they’re worth. Make some kind of compromise for gosh sakes. The fans are IMPORTANT!! LISTEN TO US!!

  9. I think Rachelle was the PERFECT Victoria. She was very intimidating. Then when they replaced it, the Victoria looked way too nice. Anyway, if they replace Alice and Emmett I will be very disappointed. They are great for the role. Just compromise with them and persuade them to stay.

    • I agree Rachelle was prettier, and she was more “perfect” and cat like (as described in the books), in other words more vampire like! Bryce was close but not as good….. I agree she was not harsh enough.

  10. Edward Cullen is too hot and I think Bella is really pretty and if they fire any one of the cullens it’s not even going to be twilight anymore

    • I Completely agree! NO CULLEN FIRING!!! They each play such a HUGE part in the story!

  11. the move is ta cool love

  12. I think this late in the game it shouldn’t matter to much what the main actors want deal with it and give them what they want I know they can afford to do it so stop kidding ur selfs and just do it

    • They should make a movie out of that too!

  14. hey there, ive been writing to charlie bewley but latly my mother said i have my head in the sky but i dont have much of a choice to say what i want to too bad i cant do it again my dad and mother cant afford it

  15. Dear Charlie Bewley, i have a crush on you but my dad dont believe in crushes really… unless the guy really treats me like a priness im stuck
at home with nothing to do sometimes but its okay because i love being in
the rain and thunerstorms i mind being wet really i like the rain

  16. Dear Charlie Bewley, my letter is in Santa Monica but i dont know if you got it alr3eady sometimes the get losted and found in a another place

  17. I think the actors they picked for each role were perfect in every way! Especially Jacob and Edward, I couldn’t imagin them any other way! I can not wait to see how they do up Kristen Stuart in the second Breaking Dawn film. I thought she was pretty as “average human” Bella, but as “immortal perfetion” Bella, I just can’t wait!
