Twihards have their calendars marked and (probably) have already bought their tickets in advance for next month’s release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.
Recent still pics and TV spots released for the penultimate Twilight flick have nicely illustrated the luxurious nature of starry-eyed lovers Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen’s (Robert Pattinson) wedding. Today, we have a clip that offers further proof that nobody knows how to honeymoon in style like a century-old vampire permanently “trapped” in the form of a
gaunt handsome 17-year-old male.
Previously-unveiled imagery of Bella and Edward’s honeymoon have certainly played up the nature of everything from the gorgeous tropical setting to the pair’s flawlessly designed vacation attire. It all looks like something out of a commercial advertising Rio de Janeiro as an exquisite getaway spot for the average married couple… even one composed of two people who both look like they rarely (if ever) are exposed to sunlight. Moving on…
Breaking Dawn – Part 1 is really only meant for the hardcore Twilight lovers – and give both screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg and director Bill Condon credit: they clearly understand what makes this supernatural romance series popular with its fanbase.
Check out the Breaking Dawn – Part 1 clip below and see what we mean:
Passing over the over-the-top repressed sexual tension (a hallmark of the Twilight series) in the above scene, there is actually some solid justification for the romanticized atmosphere and sumptuous visual style of the Breaking Dawn – Part 1 footage previewed so far. Namely, it’s meant to contrast vividly with the darker turns in the plot that occur after Edward and Bella… well, consummate their marriage.
In case you’ve not been following the Breaking Dawn – Part 1 marketing so far: Once Bella gets past the “challenge” of actually walking down the aisle with her beloved Edward, she soon becomes impregnated with a rapidly-growing human/vampire fetus – one whose mere existence threatens to ignite a war between the vampire coven and (were)wolf population. Jacob (Taylor Lautner) is thereafter forced to do some quick growing up, as he has to put aside his jealous feelings and protect Bella against his former (hairy) comrades.
There’s a bit more to the story than that – like Jacob’s (bizarre) connection to Bella’s child and the horrifying drastic measures Edward ultimately uses to save his mortal wife’s life – but, again, if you’re actually interested in this new Twilight movie, chances are good you already know about all that.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 opens in U.S. theaters on November 18th, 2011.
