It is kind of outlandish to think that an episode like ‘Real Life Is the Nightmare’ is what passes for taking a breather on Banshee, but here we are. After last week’s tremendous effort sent Hood on a double road trip, courtesy of the FBI and some very eccentric gangsters, while Burton and Nola Longshadow made sure no one ever looked at a Rolls Royce hood ornament the same way, the series earned a short moment to catch it’s breath.

That’s not to say those breaths were necessarily going to be relaxing. Last week’s episode wasn’t just a rollercoaster ride; it ...

Yet, being teased with all season 5 has to offer has only made the wait until its April premiere become all the more unbearable. Until then, fans will have to be content with simply pouring over the trailer, examining every frame, and piecing together any clues they unearth. Once you’ve properly dissected the ...

BBC America has made a name for itself by importing the best of British television to American audiences. Sure, their off hours may get filled with reruns of Star Trek: The Next Generation (What? The network has even begun creating their own original series like Copper and Orphan Black – which in particular has received exceptionally high praise.

[This is a review of Elementary season 3, episode 12. There will be SPOILERS.]

Emotional resonance is not an element typically expected from a police procedural. The goal is usually to play up the theatrical aspects of the crime, to make it salacious or frightening and then depict the manner in which the perpetrator is brought to justice. Although many aspects of its design are procedural in nature, Elementary is fairly atypical when it comes to what properties it chooses to highlight and why. And because of that, it is capable of finding new avenues to explore within characters who are otherwise incredibly familiar.

As the second episode of a two-part storyline, ‘The One That ...

Most recently, we heard word pilots for Rush Hour, Limitless and Luther adaptations were all going to be in production this year, and now another name can be added to the list thanks NBC: Problem Child.

According to new reports, NBC has greenlit an adaptation of the 1990 Dennis Dugan film with Old School’s Scot Armstrong set to write the series, as well as executive produce – along with original film producer Brian Grazer. While we wait patiently (or not so patiently, as the case may be) for Marvel’s Phase 2 to continue unfolding on the big screen, there’s still plenty of small screen Marvel properties to bide our time. There’s Agent Carter, the back half of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s second season, and later this year the first of Marvel’s new slate of Netflix programming: Daredevil.

When first announced it was unclear exactly how the Marvel/Netflix slate would work, but since then Netflix has made finding success with their own original programing look all too easy. After Daredevil, the next series to debut on the ...

While the details of Oliver’s supposed resurrection remain scarce – or are otherwise attributed to a perfect storm of circumstances that made Tatsu’s efforts seem miraculous – Arrow has concerned itself with the larger ramifications of what the absence of Queen’s alter ego means to the city he has sworn to protect. As the second installment in what could be a “Return of the Arrow” trilogy, ‘Midnight City’ demonstrates how agents of disorder and order fill the void left by the Arrow – and how that combination of volatile elements leads to some substantial realizations.

[Agent Carter Episode 4 SPOILERS will Follow.]

Marvel’s Agent Carter reveals more of its feature-film origins in this week’s episode, “The Blitzkrieg Button,” in a lack luster, dialogue-driven “Act II” which purely sets up (hopefully exciting) episodes to come. As an hour of Tuesday night television, it’s monotonous; as journey into the Marvel world, however, it’s completely fascinating, and a success.

Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) sleeping with many women is one of the innocent yet awkward lessons this episode teaches its viewers. There’s no reason for Stark to be bedding women other than he can, and much like this series’ period setting, it’s played for quick, convenient, forgettable laughs, rather than being an earnest aspect of this ever-growing world. ...

During January’s TCA Winter Press Tour, a variety of network heads took questions from THR about the current state of the television industry – one of them being Netflix’s chief content officer, Ted Sarandos. In Sarandos’ answers, a variety of potential news came out about Netflix’s future, including re-iterating the goal to release 20 original seasons of television a year (about one every 3 weeks), and early rumblings of a potential multi-cam sitcom. However, all this ambition leaves us with a new question: Is the state of Netflix, as it exists, truly sustainable?

In the coming months and years, Netflix plans to launch the first of a 5-series deal with Marvel in Daredevil; a former NBC developed comedy in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt; a late-night talk show hosted by ...

Netflix’s success stories include not just original content (such as Orange is the New Black), but also revivals of established cult small screen programs, such as Arrested Development season four. Nonetheless, the upcoming Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp limited series – the title for which has been confirmed by the new teaser (see above) – is something a bit different for the service: a series spinoff for a cult comedy film.

Wet Hot American Summer, for those unfamiliar, is a movie that released back in 2001 but takes place in the year 1981, as the colorful counselors at Camp Firewood attempt to tie up their loose ends on the last day of camp for the summer. First Day of Camp, appropriately enough, picks up on the first day of the summer 1981 season… even though this series is arriving 14 years after the original movie. David ...

Last week, Justified answered the question of how the series was planning to respond to some of the criticism thrown its way in the wake of season 5. The answer: to come out swinging with strong character moments for Raylan, Boyd, and Ava. In fact, ‘Fate’s Right Hand’ did one better by establishing the stakes of season with Boyd’s impromptu execution of Dewey Crowe – which he explained by telling Carl, “I think I couldn’t trust him anymore.”

It was a strong showing, one that made it feel as though the series was indeed on the right path to ending its run on a creative ...
