‘Tucker & Dale vs. Evil’ Red Band Trailer

Published 4 years ago by

tucker dale header Tucker & Dale vs. Evil Red Band TrailerHorror and comedy are two of my favorite genres and just like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, I like when they are combined. Last month, Screen Rant writer Ross Miller did a series on horror films that were combined with other genres. One of those combinations was horror plus comedy and the movie he choose was Shaun of the Dead. Other great examples are the always popular Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness with Bruce “The Chin” Campbell.

Well today, courtesy of our friends at Bloody Disgusting, we have a new trailer for the upcoming horror/comedy film Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. If the film is half as funny as the trailer then I am really looking forward to seeing it. The movie stars Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Dodgeball) and Tyler Labine (Zack and Miri Make a Porno) as two redneck hillbillies that want to do nothing more than enjoy their new vacation cabin in the middle of the woods.

Of course, the mandatory horror staple of stupid, horny college kids are in the film and they think themselves better than our backwoods brethren. After Tucker and Dale rescue one of the kids from drowning, the teens accuse the guys of kidnapping or killing her and embark on a quest to rescue her. Through a series of horrific misunderstandings, the teens are killed one by one but not by the people you would think. Watch the red band trailer after the jump.

I like the fact that these are just nice, honest guys that aren’t trying to bother anybody but are stereotyped just by how they look. It reminds me a lot of those old Church of the Latter Day Saints commercials where the black guy dressed in hip-hop urban clothing walks up behind the white guy dressed in a business suit. Just when the white guy thinks he is about to get mugged, the black guy hands the white guy his wallet that he dropped instead. Moral of the story – you can’t judge a book by its cover.

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil is just like that LDS commercial; the film is directed by newcomer Eli Craig, produced by Thomas Augsberger (Waiting) and Deepak Nayar (Bend It Like Beckham) and also stars is Katrina Bowden (Sex Drive). It’s a nice change of pace to the see the jerky college kids as the bad guys instead of the turning the guys that like to hunt, fish and pretty much just be left alone into mindless blood-thirsty killers.

What do you think about this new horror/comedy concept for Tucker & Dale vs. Evil and do you plan on watching it? Do you think it could become as popular a cult favorite as Evil Dead and Shaun of the Dead?

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil slaughters it way into theater screens soon.

  1. That does look funny. I am living proof of “don’t judge a book by it’s cover”. I am 6’1”, black, 370 lbs, with a van dyke. People say I look like I hate the world when I’m walking, and they were scared of me at first. When I finally met people I have only conversed with by phone, they were totally surprised; in fact, my wife thought I was a white guy when I first called her.

  2. @John – You look like a klingon to me in your pic :)

  3. And you look like a weakling petaQ!! But I digress; that would be an insult to petaQs!!!

You just had to go there, Paul, didn’t you?

    8-D

  4. I know that is a Star Trek reference but I’m ashmed to say I’m not familiar with it.

  5. Hilarious!!

  6. This looks great. Alan Tudyk’s the best, and this concept is probably the best for a horror/comedy I’ve seen since “Shaun.” I’ll definitely see this opening weekend!

  7. look like a white trash film!

  8. That trailer was awesome

i cant wait to see this movie

  9. The trailer looks really good. I really hope they haven’t used all the best bits for it though and 1 1/2 hours of that one joke may be a little much. Still going to watch it though, Tyler Labine just mesmerises me :)

  10. Has anyone else had trouble with getting teh trailer to play? When I click any of the buttons nothing happens and thats a first

  11. @Paul
You’ve got to be kidding! Everyone knows what petaQ means.

    (crickets chirping)

    Ok, maybe not everyone. :-D

It loosely means animal, but much worse.

  12. I went to high school and university with Adam Beauchesne one of the actors in there must admit I’m bitter I’m not in his place but he’s a nice enough fellow and deserves it.

  14. Just saw this at Sundance at midnight show. Fabulous epicness – it's an instant classic. Girlfriend never would've seen this if a friend hadn't gotten us tickets for this as it's not her “type” of movie, and she ended up laughing louder than she's ever laughed. Ever. In fact it was so funny she couldn't avoid snorting.

  18. Saw it yesterday on Hulu. Although not as good as the trailer portrays it, still a funny movie. And yes, the best since Shaun of the dead in the horror/comedy department.
