‘True Blood’ Season 6 Details Revealed – Who is Warlow?

Published 3 years ago by , Updated August 31st, 2012 at 11:35 am,

Now that the True Blood season 5 finale has set things in motion for an extremely exciting sixth season, it’s time to find out what exactly we can expect as our stay in Bon Temps is extended one more year.

True Blood’s bloody finale left fans wanting answers to even more questions, chomping at the bit to find out the more about the mysterious Warlow. With almost a year’s wait until True Blood season 6, series creator Alan Ball exits the series by revealing some things that fans can expect to see next season.

Speaking with TV Line, Ball brings some hope to Bill’s (currently) bleak situation, throws a twist in Pam and Tara’s relationship, explains the type of man vampire Eric Northman truly is, while also providing some answers as to why a fan favorite character (Hoyt) was written off the show. If you’re hoping for more visual True Blood extras, you can check out the bonus scene from the True Blood season 5 finale (above). Picking up in the Vampire Authority elevator, we see Jason and everyone attempting to make their exit – but not before the name “Warlow” comes up.

After seeing Bill bloodily transform into Bill/Lilith (Bililith?), everyone is wondering exactly what kind of monster Sookie and friends will have to deal with in season 6. Though Bill showed a brief bit a fear before spontaneously exploding, his demeanor after being reborn was anything but friendly.  Touching about this aspect, Ball hints that Bililith may not be completely gone, even if he is terrifying:

“Who’s to say what Lilith really is? He is still Bill but he is something different.

It is Bill, but it is a transformed Bill. He is not a completely new person. It’s not like his memories or his experiences have been left out and he’s just a baby.

Is he going to be evil? What does he want? What is he going to do? Will he be able to revert back to Bill? That’s for future seasons. The implication, certainly, is that he is more ferocious.”

Though having to fight the always present supernatural inhabitants of Bon Temps, perhaps a former lover turned vampire god isn’t the best thing to have hanging around Sookie. While there’s no doubt that Bill will somehow have to fight off the power that Lilith’s blood brings him, we can only guess how much destruction will have come before that moment. And even if Bill somehow rights himself, there’s still one mysterious name left to deal with: M. Warlow.

Ball will only say that Warlow will play a big part of True Blood season 6. Even fans of the books are left in the dark on this mystery, as Sookie’s parents were murdered by a pair of fairies in the novel, and the name “M. Warlow” never comes up. That being said, there were still a few hints given about what type of creature Warlow might be. Having been able to present himself to Sookie, it’s clear that Warlow has some kind of supernatural power, likely fairy. Combine that with the fact that we already know he’s a vampire and there’s a very good chance that Warlow is some kind of vampire-fairy hybrid.

Taking a turn for the romantic, the surprising relationship between Tara and Pam caught many off guard. As many will wait and see what comes from television’s most powerful women coupling, Ball quickly puts a stop to any type of “happily every after” the future lovebirds may have:

“They both were, if not full-on lesbians, than bisexual. They both were characters with real attitude. And they both hate each other — at least they did at the beginning of the season. And that, to me, felt like it could create a lot of tension that could turn romantic towards the end.

…here’s the thing with relationships on True Blood: Once they happen then you have to throw a monkey-wrench into them, because to have people be happy is not that exciting.”

Now that Bill is an evil vampire god, the heroic light is shining even greater on the one-time villainous Eric. Putting a different spin on the former vampire Sheriff, Ball reveals what his longtime stance has been on the allusive Northman:

“Eric was kind of like a mischievous cad, but I don’t think he was ever, like, a true villain the way that Russell was or the way that Maryann was. And he’s done a lot of really heroic things himself. So I never really looked at Eric as the bad guy and Bill as the good guy – at least not since the very early seasons.”

Essentially bringing any True Blood season 6 information to an end, Ball talks about one of the great losses from this season. As one of Bon Temps fan favorites, fans couldn’t help but mourn the departure of Hoyt Fortenberry. Though still very much alive, Ball reveals why he decided to write Hoyt off his series:

“I felt like we had told his entire story. There weren’t many places we could go with him that we hadn’t been, but I love that character and I love Jim [Parrack] so much I didn’t want to kill him. He’s always been such a good soul. I wanted to have the possibility for him to return as well. But he fell in love and he couldn’t let go.”

To wrap things up, Ball gives his final thoughts on working on True Blood, and why he decided to move on.

“It’s bittersweet. It’s been such a big part of my life for so long; of course it’s hard to step away. But running that show is such a huge job and I’ve been doing it for five years straight. I just don’t think I have another season left in me. I need to re-charge. And then I’m interested in doing something new — something with different characters and a different tone. As a writer, it’s fun to create. And once you get into a long-running show with very established characters and a very established tone and format, after a while it’s a really great job but that’s what it is — a job. You’re just continuing to create the same show. I’m at the point in my life where I don’t want to work as hard. Actually, I’ve had to take a good hard look at workaholism and it’s effect on one’s mental health. [Laughs] And, also, there are things I want to do that are different. I want to try something completely different.”

True Blood season 6 premieres on HBO in 2013.

  1. This stated that Warlow might be a vampire-fairy hybrid which, to me doesn’t make sense. Nora knows who Warlow is, Nora never came across a fairy, she didn’t even know about them. She would know more about fairies if she knew more about Warlow. I think this theory wouldn’t hold up very well. However, I do think there was a hint as to where Warlow might have been. When the Fairy Elder attacks Russell, she tries to banish him somewhere, something we’ve never seen before, I think that night when Sookie’s parents were killed, her guardian fairy sent Warlow packing to this other dimension but now that she was killed he’s starting to break free from the spell. Just my own theory.

    • I must agree with you. This sounds by far the most likely theory.

      • One beef I have with that theory is that the Elder Faerie may have been able to banish people/vamps/whatever to another dimension, but Claudxxxx are all brothers/sisters, there is no implication there are vast differences in their age or abilities. If Claudine was able to banish Warlow to another dimension, why wouldn’t one out of all of those faeries in the fae club have been able to do nothing more than hide behind a veil created by the Elder? Surely if Claudine could banish Warlow to another dimension, one of her many (16+) siblings could also..or maybe one of the non-related Fae in the fae club.

          • Hey Mike Perez. Please be aware, typing in all caps is bad etiquette, hard to read, and hard to take serious.

The Eldest Fae we know of was killed by Warlow
It was Claudette the eldest of the “Claudes” (“around 500 but she tells people she is only 300″..but really “halfway to being an elder”) Also, this is not the final season I believe, at least no official word on that….do you have a source for that? Again, your comment was really hard to understand without some kind of sentence structure, punctuation, and being in ALL CAPS.

            • reading the bottom 3 comments, youre both wrong. when sookie and jason find the scroll written in the old language, they take it to the fariy club to get it translated BY MIRELLA!!! mirella translates it for them, and shes the one whos 300 ( half way to being an elder). Mirella introduces sookie to the oldest fariy (who gets killed by russel). if Claudine (sookies fgm) banished warlo to another demension or realm or whatever, wouldnt it have broken when she died? maybe thats why warlo is only just revealing himself.

          • Sorry I meat the Eldest Fae was killed by Russell*, not Warlow

    • agree with you , but who really knows …and iam wondering …why does a fairy sold sookie before 300 to a vampire?fairies and vampires are like sun and darkness…………………………….

    • A comment by one of the fairies suggested that Sookie might be a fairy-vampire hybrid.

      • I remember the elder fairy talking about a reason why Sookie loves every vampire she meets.

    • Faires smell amazing to Vapimres, but if a Faury turns Vapire they’re bound to lose the intising fairy smell. Nora could well know of Warlow because he would not smell of fairy anymore after beeing turned Vampire.

    • Maybe Nora just heard rumors about him. Fairies were just rumors too and the begining. Of course I may be mistaken :-)

  2. I just thought of something. This contract is supposed to be for the first fae-bearing female in the Stackhouse family line…I remember Sookie’s cousin Hadley (can’t remember for sure), she asked Sookie to see if her son was like her (mind reading) and found out he was and went into hiding. So her son is part fairy as well. I’m not sure if they ever said who was older between Sookie and Hadley but my thought is that even though Hadley doesn’t have the talents she still produced a fae-bybrid so that fits her. But who knows. On the whole Warlow thing, I’m curious if Bills sire, I can’t remember her name, was possibly sired by Warlow or linked to him by however many sires, bc technically the bloodline flows through them in that way. It would make sense for the Queen to send Bill to Sookie and make her drink his blood to connect them if the Queen knew of the lineage of his vampyric nature and knew of the pact as well. She could have been trying to get the connection between Warlow and Sookie to open up faster by sending Bill to her and having her fall in love with him. I only recently starting watching, bought the entire series that was available and finished season 5 online within 2 weeks. I’m hooked and don’t want it to end. I’m seeing a lot of connections being brought up through the previous Queen who had Hadley living with her, maybe this is why Hadley was there in the first place. Maybe she knew of the pact bc she was brought there bc they thought she was the one the pact was meant to be for but turned out otherwise so the Queen kept her as a pet so she couldn’t go and warn Sookie. The more I think about this the more a lot of things seem to fit for me.

    • Hadley isn’t a contestant..there is a difference between possessing a gene and possessing a trait – for example, 2 (visibly) black parents can have a (visibly) white child, if 1 of their ancestors was (viibly) white..as far as I understood the contract it was intended for the next fae-bearing female, not just a female in the family line. The contract says the “next fae-bearing female heir”, not just “next female”.

      • I understand what you are saying here but I wasn’t saying she could be it simply because she is a female. My understanding of a fae-bearing female is a woman in the line who passes on the fae gene that leads to another fae-hybrid like Sookie. We learned that Hadley’s son can hear thoughts just like Sookie and her grandfather which is why she went into the fairy world to live so she could protect him. So technically she is a fae-bearing female, unless the woman stated in the contract had to have a girl in order for it to be legit…I don’t know, but I still feel that it could be Hadley too, but maybe she is actually younger than Sookie and that is why she is not the one for the contract.

        • i didnt like season there was too much going on that i feel didnt need to be there. i am looking forward to season 6 alot. please bring it out before 2013. love Eric so much

        • i didnt like season there was too much going on that i feel didnt need to be there. i am looking forward to season 6 alot.

please bring it out before 2013. love Eric so much

        • i didnt like season 5 there was too much going on that i feel didnt need to be there. i am looking forward to season 6 alot.

please bring it out before 2013. love Eric so much

        • When they said “Fae-bearing female” they ment a female possessing the Fae powers. I’m sure she’s not the first female born in her family in all that time.

          • Well, i guess some of my questions are answered in here.
it is kinda strange there were none fae-bearing female in stackhouse for 300 years, but i guess it is also very possible.
            anyway, i can’t wait until june coming….
furthermore, i am not living in North America anymore, so i have to ask my friends or relatives to send me DVDs or CDs when the season is over, which means i will probably wait until end of september or begining of Octover to watch this awesome series….
the fact drives me nuts! god dang it!

      • Except…in the books, Hadley was killed. And Charlaine Harris is tired of writing Sookie, too. So not only is the series ending, so are the books.

  3. I should be posting this where Ball can see this…I understand redundant work, not to the expansion or loyality you have created. I myself as an artist can only imagine becoming as big as Trueblood has but still I would feel, if not obligated, (which I understand not tying yourself for that reason), a birthright to create and finish what I have started. You are the only one to finish the harmonious work/episodes we have seen, why not finish them now?? Yes, yes other ventures call, to expand, to explore, to seek out, and I say do them, but why abandon your “prodigy”?

    • @christine Progeny is what youre looking for, not prodigy. I agree and wish those that bring out the best of a show would stick around…but as viewers i wish people would realize the pressures and politics they create by complaining and begging along the way about what favorite characters they want more or less of, swearing on trueblood facebook pages that they’ll quite watching if XYZ demands are not met, and idiotically bashing the intelligence of current staff. It starts to wear thin on all involved and the networks honestly dont care for artistic endeavors and vision of the creators as long as they keep people watching….and honestly a lot of times people are idiots. It should always be obvious Sookie will never be with Alcide long term but i’ve read really harsh commentary of how she should be…to me it’s like Twilight fans begging for Bella to end up with the wolf guy = never gonna happen. Rutina Wesley(Tara) was hated by fans for the first 4 seasons and is now loved as a vamp….but if fans had their way(which unknowingly they often do) she would have been gone( i heard keeping her around was an alan ball thing). But my rant is to say, tell everyone, please, to stop nuclear blasting the internet with negativity and let these people do their jobs or we risk the best of the best walking away from it and washing their hands of it…or worse giving into fandom, which honestly i have come to believe are mostly idiots masterbatorily begging for more screentime for their favorite who-cares side characters, or hating side story lines. I mean really people were pissed about Chris Meloni departure but really he was a stand-in character, served his purpose and left…Biggest one is Russell’s death which was great writing and timing…I loved Russell but how long can they keep letting him run around. He climaxed, he the actor that portrayed him knew it and said it. Eric had to get his revenge and something had to save those fairies lol. It was a complete arc. Fans dont get that. they want a show about Russell Edgington…huh? exactly. They want Patrick whats his name around more cause they think he’s cute……and i loved how they wrapped the ifrit storyline and was shocked-in a good way- by Terry and Arlene(ie “Terry you shoot him. Kill him Terry. He was gonna shoot you on your knees, you kill him for your family” and Terry blew that mf away. Cold) Lafayette, Tara, Jason, Pam, Jessica, Andy, Terry, I like the side stories and understand we cant watch Bill and Eric and Sookie and Alcide pine over each other and dry hump for an hour each week. I’d actually like to see some web series of these side stories…True Blood is so much more than the Sookie Stackhouse story….it’s a larger world, vampires have admitted their existence and now the natural and supernatural world react…that’s what it is for me. If fans had their way this would simply be an R rated twilight and THAT would lose me as a viewer.

I think they are going to incorporate fairy as base supernatural creatures like in the books and demons and what not. Vampires even being the progeny of sometype of cursed fae…as now they will have to explain the origin of vamps since the whole lilith and now Bill as Uber vamp and Warlow’s mystery (which i think we’ll learn HE is closer to the original fairy gone bloodlust/what would become vamps(just theory)
and thats my two cents and i’m not asking for that or saying that one of the million ways they could take it wont be awesome.

but please everyone STFU and enjoy the show for what it is…before we lose all the writers and people that make the show great.

ps. Glad Hoyts gone. As an example, he isnt my favorite character. I never complained, asked for his death, or that his mother be garroted…and i understand his gut wrenching and heartbreaking journey(even though i hated it stealing screentime..but it was written well and they moved him on with class and left possibility for return. I didnt start a writing campaign to get rid of character or say how idotic all the writers and show makers are, i didnt start a tumblr saying team Jason/Jessica….people need to realize what theyre doing to the shows we love. We think we have no power…until our favorite show runner, the guy with the vision, has had enough or is asked to step down….

      • I couldn’t have said it better myself. When I read people’s negative coments I am shocked because I’ve loved every episode. I’m truly sad that True Blood will not continue but I understand it must be a hard task to keep something going for so long .

      • I agree with you so much! People always seem to want the artist/write to CHANGE everything to suit their wants. Well, that’s not going to happen.

    • I can understand what you are saying Supernaturals creator had to leave bc he had finished what he was supposed to on the show and it was given to someone else but that girl drove the show into the ground imo. I’ve seen a lot of people complain about this season of True Blood so maybe we do need a fresh mind in it. I believe that if someone sticks with something only because they created it can end badly. If they no longer have the passion for the project that they once had why keep on doing it? Pass it on to someone who has the passion or even ideas for it. I would rather see someone new take over than have someone who really doesn’t have anything left in them for this show and let him create something else we all may love. I’ve seen things get run into the ground bc the person doing it couldn’t be let out of contracts or whatever and things just went south. I want this show to continue on for at least another couple seasons so I welcome this change. I know most people don’t like change but I hope maybe you can see a good side of it from what I have stated, I figure you’d hate to see the show die off bc ball just didn’t care enough to be creative anymore.

    • I watched season 1-4 trying to get my head wrapped around stuff. I still can’t believe how many times Sookie has forgiven Bill for misdeeds meaning acceptance for what he has done and who he is. I watched as she and Eric talked about him and what would happen if he got his memories back and still can’t figure out how she can go back on her word and not give him a chance. I can’t understand why Pam is so angry with Eric and Sookie’s relationship when she was the one that betrayed them in Season 4. I know as a fan I’m asking a lot but after the Authority can’t we just get through Warlow and Billith? Last season there was too much stuff going on I kind of lost interest because as long as Sookie has been dealing with vampires she is still being portrayed as naive instead of strong. Bill seems to still find a way to cloud her judgement like getting his blood into her and making her doubt her feelings for Eric. I just hope season 6 shows a smarter Sookie and tougher Sookie. I’m looking forward to season 6 but not so much afraid if the story line is going to be all over the place like last season

  4. well me and my trubie friends just refer to this new thing as Billith

  5. I loved the true blood series I was always rooting for sookie and Eric until I seen alcide. I think alcide and sookie will make the perfect couple!!

  6. Frankly i don’t care about Bill who’s always been a strange character from the start well that what i think then he let Sookie lie there getting beaten up , then he fakes o be the hero he’s seemed a selfish, power hungry individual . yes you can argue Eric also got Sookie to believe he’s in pain with the bullet act so she sucks his blood but the attraction was there from the first time they met and it was true plus come on you need to admit it was cute and funny lol , anyway my point is I want to see Eric & Sookie as couple a proper couple without Bill why not get Bill another girl who matches his character???

    • I couldn’t agree more :)

  7. Wow! Am inlove with this film, TV series or whatever!infact am in love with the writer of this play! God bless u… And pls do keep it coming…

  8. Wow! Am inlove with this film, TV series or whatever infact am in love with the writer of this play God bless u… And pls do keep it coming….

  9. When will True Blood Season 6 air on HBO in 2013 Tell me the day and date

  10. Warlow is a vampire who can use black magic I accidently read it some months ago while I was browsing at TB’s wikia. After some days they removed this information and today you can read this.

All vampire abilities, plus an unexplained connection to faery magic.

  11. So does this mean that there is not going to be a season 7 in the works for true blood?

  12. Ihope there will be a season 7 for true blood . As love the show loads

  13. I’m DYING for next season to come out. My heart is breaking with anticipation. </3 I NEED TRUE BLOOD!!!!

  14. I loved the final! I really enjoyed the whole of season 5 actually, I think it really stepped it up from season 4 which I enjoyed less than previous seasons. I personally enjoyed the fact that it was a bit less ‘How many guys can we get to fall in love with Sookie’ and explored them all as individuals for once. I also adored how much Pam there was in this season and love the Pam/Tara dynamic. So excited for next season, I hope there are a few more nice Pam/Eric scenes. I loved their little moment in the final.

  15. I wasn’t a huge fan of Season 5. Like others said I felt like their were too many unnecessary things going on that could of been wrapped up in a few episodes that were dragged on. I had to fast forward through the “smoke demon” thing. I really really wasn’t into it. As for Bill, I’ve grown to dislike him as the seasons go on. I don’t know why, but I just disliked him ever since he became king of Louisiana. I am starting to re-watch the seasons and as I have been noticing, Eric really never was a true villain. Did some cold hearted things, but he never truly had intentions like MaryAnn or Russell. Speaking of which, I hope Season 6 is sort of something like Season 2. MaryAnn probably was one of the oddest and strangest villians, It would be interesting to see something bizarre and off the wall like that. I also hope too that Sookie toughens up in the next season and learns that she can stand on her own two feet. I’m disappointed that the next season is shorted to 10 episodes, but hopefully it will be a little longer or less minor plots so things can be wrapped up better…until then I will re watch my seasons! lol

  17. I don’t want to see true blood episodes end at all. I want them to continue for as long as posible. And what is the date that true blood acually comes out in 2013 id it in feburary and if it is when in feb ? Please reply back or someone tell me if you know please. Email me at my email and comment on here.

  19. I live for true blood.Y’all really make my day I miss my sudays bring on season 6 Iwwish I can be on there

  20. I live for true blood.Y’all really make my day I miss my sundays bring on season 6. I wish I was on there.

  21. Someone help me when does the new Season start?

    • June. Around the same time as last year.

  22. Call me crazy but hear me out, what if Bill is actually Warlow? Think of this, Bill has had so many secrets upon secrets that it’s overwhelming.

My other theory is, Warlow could be a fairy (possibly directly related to Sookie) who was turned into a vampire. Otherwise how could we explain the connection. And maybe, just maybe, because Warlow being a hybrid, and inheriting Sookie (think why did it have to be a female bearing fae??) that Warlow wants Sookie to reproduce with?????

Crazy theories, but we’ve all see some EXTREMELY F**KED UP SH*T ON TRUE BLOOD THESE PAST 5 SEASONS. I wouldn’t put it past them to create some kind of vampire fairy hybrid incest.

  23. What day is season 6 coming out on air thank u I am deing to c it

  24. im not being negative..but i thought that season 5 would be better..i really liked season 2..it was great!..but so much went on in season 5 that i didnt like

  25. FAERIES CAN’T BE TURNED! if you havn’t noticed they dissipate when they die and to be turned requires a dead body.. logic people..

any who say it’s godrick’s maker are also wrong because in a previous episode it was made clear godrick’s maker is dead. do you people even pay attention when you watch television or are you mind warped like the rest of the nation

    • Someone seems upset. Lol.

  26. but sookie isnt a full faerie…so she can be turned

  27. I’m a bit curious about “everyone saying” this season 6 being the last season. Maybe it isn’t. But I don’t know.
Now about that, Anna is pregnant, will that be brought into season 6 as part of this Warlow guy who wants to claim Sookie for a “maybe” reason of binging another or more of his kind into the world that might turn into vamp/fae/day walker creatures with a lot of power? Or maybe he wants to bring himself into this world? That will be some weird stuff.
Just to think of it then…, maybe Bill is then the “only one” who can get rid of Warlow to save his beloved Sookie in the end. Then again, I’m just wondering, not saying how it should be. I love the show as it is, with the twitches, turns and surprises, and can’t wait for season 6 to start. ;)

  28. i dont really like bill throughout the show he was acting like he loves sookie so much..yet at the end she begged him not to drink it if he loved her..i never liked him since he became king of louisana

  29. Here’s the deal… die hard fans are this way – if you write it, we will watch it. Charmed was on the air 10 years and that was kid friendly… this is a grown-up, less cheesy show… the fans will be the ones to keep it alive. They want the story line to go one way or another… but seriously… what keeps them tuning in is the suspense… if they knew what was going to happen, they’d be bored. What did they do before the internet and tumblr and twitter and Facebook….. they WATCHED… you have an opinion, you have a theory… woohoo… but when it comes down to it, if your idea for a story line was the greatest… then you’d have come up with the whole shebang…. just enjoy the show…
