  1. “Just sit right there, Flynn..”

I can't wait! The Light-cycle wallpaper will have to do until then. :O(

  2. I suppose this story builds on the first one where Flynn was digitized into the computer world of the first movie. This time it looks like he goes back to explore. He was a super high level programmer and hacker in the first one. Treated like a god in Tron's world. It's an interesting question. If you found a new world where you were far more powerful than here would you go back to stay? Really it was “The Matrix” of its day. Nice to see B. Boxleitner reprise his character. I was hoping he would. Just wonder if he'll play Tron or does his program ego even exist??

  3. Hey Jerseycajun do you think he looks a little like Redford with his hair bleached?

  4. But seriously, I'm betting that it's going to be Krasinski. If he is cast, It shall be a glorious display of destruction and mayhem. Glorious, I tell you! Then there's the Avengers.I'd imagine they would have to start very early next year, and since it will be a huge movie, who knows how long filming will last.

  5. Like Redford channelling Rutger Hauer! I'm hoping for something of a Bruce boost after this comes out.

  6. Nice one, Ross – I missed that. Good to see him in full “mad Nero” mode again.

  7. For a movie that's 28 years old the original still looks unique, although CGI technology didn't exist at the time to produce much of what director Steven Lisberger wanted, and a lot of the film actually uses traditional hand-painted cel animation for the computer environments. The costume and set designs were by the French comic artist Moebius, who also did the crew outfits and spacesuits for Alien, and some for Blade Runner (I was disappointed they've not brought him back for this). The vehicles and “Tron” logo were all by Syd Mead, who designed the police spinners for Blade Runner, the Leonov spacecraft for 2010, and the Sulaco for Aliens. The music was by “gender-reassigned” musician Wendy Carlos, who worked for Stanley Kubrick on the scores for A Clockwork Orange and The Shining. I'm glad they've got some experienced electronic musicians to do the Legacy soundtrack and not some hack with a sequencer.

  8. Tron Legacy looks friking awesome!

Is the short haired brunette lying on the chair the girl from House?

  9. The Original Tron was awesome. Looking at the previews, I hope the story is good. The visuals effects look great, especially the light cycles……..

  10. One of the unearthly visual aspects of the original is the helmet that encloses the human entirely with ghostly light. Just having the lights on the costumes does not seem other-worldly enough imo. Interestingly, the Tron-cycles fail to provide the distinct vertigo and momentum the originals did. When they zoomed to a wall then performed an instantaneous 90-degree turn, one's stomach lurched. Here, it looks just like all the rest of the reved-up cycle flick FX. It really just looks like a Tron-version of The Dark Knight's BatCycle.

I'm glad they included Bridges but visually there's nothing compelling in this preview.

  11. I admit, as much as I like Daft Punk I wasn't sold on them doing the score when it was first announced. But now… holy crap, that's good stuff in the trailer, musically as well as visually. Can't wait for the score to be released.

  12. Yup.

  13. I kinda thought he wasn't doing anything since the Strazinski sci-fi series he was on.

  14. I know what you mean: the high-contrast eeriness is gone. Weirdly, the computer world doesn't look artificial enough. I thought the cycles not being able to do right-angle turns was a mistake, but you could say they only got away with that in the original because the graphics were so rudimentary. It's like in some ways they've literally painted themselves into a corner. The Recogniser vehicle in the still above, for example – it's almost too realistic. And what's with the sky? Good point about the Batpod.

  15. LOL. On a second viewing I see what you mean. :)
Takes real talent to do that and it get recognized… ;)

  16. wow, i got chill-bumbs when i saw the Recognizer , my mind was blown. ive been saying “greetings programs” for so many years and people just give me a confuzed look. maybe now a less confuzed look. lol . cannont wait for this film 1st the IM2 trailer and now this. kevin flynn is back !

  17. Love it !!! I do the same thing “Greetings Programs” !

  18. Go find yourself a copy of the first one and watch it. Now imagine watching it in the early 80's as a kid. Even to this day it holds up pretty well.

This has been a long time coming for me. December is still too far away.

  19. Think about the evolution of computer technology since the 1st movie though. The first was very linear and obviously restricted, much like the computer systems of the day. Today we have full streaming audio, video, simulations, so on and so forth. The end result of todays computer technology are far more “realistic” and it obviously has it's effect on the TRON world. At least that's my take. :P
