Tron Legacy2 TRON: Legacy Trailer #3 Offers More Story & Action

It’s Tron Tuesday and we all know what that means: Walt Disney Pictures has released new material in promotion of this winter’s highly-anticipated, 3D blockbuster event, TRON: Legacy.

The third trailer for TRON: Legacy is now online and it features plenty of yet-unseen and action-packed footage from the film (for those that missed TRON Night, that is), as well as additional details concerning the film’s plot.

Here is the official TRON: Legacy synopsis, in case you’d forgotten:

Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), a rebellious 27-year-old, is haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his father Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), a man once known as the world’s leading video-game developer. When Sam investigates a strange signal sent from the old Flynn’s Arcade—a signal that could only come from his father—he finds himself pulled into a digital world where Kevin has been trapped for 20 years.

With the help of the fearless warrior Quorra (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-or-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe—a universe created by Kevin himself that has become far more advanced with never-before-imagined vehicles, weapons, landscapes and a ruthless villain who will stop at nothing to prevent their escape.

This new TRON: Legacy preview expands on that basic summary a bit and also reveals the significant visual difference between the presentation of the real world and the dark, blue-gray cyber realm of “The Grid.”

Watch the third TRON: Legacy trailer below and see what we mean:

We’ve no doubt that the dazzling CGI and visuals of TRON: Legacy will look all the better in 3D up on the big screen, though the villainous Clu 2.0/CGI young Jeff Bridges still looks a bit silly. All of the actors, especially Hedlund, look to deliver rather subdued performances in the film (which could become a bit annoying after awhile) and the dialogue so far sounds tolerable, but far from fantastic.

Most fans expect TRON: Legacy to deliver on the visual/FX side of things,  and so far it looks to do just that. We’ve still got about six weeks left until this pic actually hits theaters – does this trailer make you all the more (or less) excited to see the final product?

TRON: Legacy will hit 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D theaters in the U.S. on December 17th, 2010.

  1. Comparing this trailer to the last two, I say Clu 2.0 looks better. They still have time to polish the character, but overall it looks fantastc.

  2. don’t worry, 80% are going to watch it for “Daft Punk”-Reasons! ;D

  3. Thkis is by far the best of the 3 trailers.

    • yup

  4. Not a fan of 3D but the visual style of this
film seems well suited for the treatment.
I like the premise and what I see so far.

On a side note, Garrett Hedlund looks
like a Superman candidate of they were
looking younger which word is they’re not.

    • I would say Flash would better fit the dude.

      • You might be right Merc.
He looks well suited for Flash.

  5. This movie looks really good!

    • Try watching the FIRST one before seeing this………..

      • So this is really a sequel? It took all this time to make one? I thought this was a RE****?

        • How many times… The same thing….

This is a sequel to Tron. Look it up on imdb or something like that, obviously you could go into this with zero knowledge of the original but perhaps you should watch it, this is no remake. It is categorically a sequel.

          • You know, you and Rick really go at each other. Rick wouldn’t be that evil leaper from the future, would he? :-)

            • He doesn’t have the intellect for it Kahless

    • Why the hell does it matter if fans have seen the original on the big screen or not?? I haven’t seen the original on the big screen, saw it on DVD but really enjoyed the movie and am really looking forward to this sequal. Am I less of a fan because I didn’t see it in theaters like you did? Well congratulations. Someone give this guy a cookie… :-D

      • I saw it on the big screen as well. Taco, stop assuming crap. Not in the mood tonight.

        • ahh Anthony, some of us weren’t born yet when this movie came out… so some new fans had watch on DVD or else where. Plus does that matter?

          • You’re asking the wrong guy, bud.

  6. Why is this film being torn up before we even see it? I loved Tron, so will definitely be seeing this one.

  7. Awesome!

  8. This looks pretty awesome, I can’t wait!!

  9. I wonder if they will release a remastered blu-ray version of Tron before this movie comes out or maybe as a set when this movie hits blu-ray…

  10. Really, really, really looking forward to this. :)

    • I have been waiting 28 years, and now its about time! I love everything they have done so far with the FlynnLives ARG (Arcadeaid, hellyflynn,Spaceparanoids, etc etc)…TronNight was amazing also, and the whole ComiTRON and elecTRONica. It sure has been one amazing year!!

  11. This looks f***ing awesome and very promising.

  12. I’m not watching anymore trailers. I was sold months ago.

  13. I’d love an “Only Solutions” remix/Daft Punk reboot track????????????!

  14. I can not wait to see this film!!!

  15. Tron needs to live on! It is by far the best franchise of all. It is more important to me than Star Wars, and that is saying a lot!
