Check out these three brand new TV ‘mini-trailers’ for the upcoming Terminator movie.

A few brand new TV spots for Terminator Salvation have made their way online and they are awesome!

We haven’t seen nearly as much marketing for this movie as we have for some of its competitors in the month of May – specifically X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Star Trek but I’m sure they are about to gear up for the release as the summer season kicks off this Friday.

The teasers show off the finished special effects of the movie and emphasize the post-apocalyptic backdrop of the story. There’s a ton of new footage in these short trailers so check these two out:

Note the PG-13 rating at the end of the videos. It’s disappointing but understandable on Warner Bros. part.

I love the aesthetic design of the world presented in the trailers so far. I imagine it’s not too far off from what we may see in the potential Fallout 3 movie if that ever gets pushed into development.

The fourth installment in the Terminator franchise and hopeful beginning of a new trilogy is directed by McG. It stars Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin, Moon Bloodgood, Bryce Dallas Howard, Common, Helena Bonham Carter and Jadagrace.

What do you think of the footage shown in these spots?

Terminator Salvation opens May 22, 2009.

  1. love those scenes w/ the “killer motorcycles”, man i cant wait for this

  2. Love the footage and because of how it looks so far and Christian Bale being my favorite actor, this is my most anticipated movie of the summer. I’ve seen these tv spots on FX the last few days, hope a couple more come out but I also hope they don’t give too much of the plot away although they’ve done a good job so far I think of keeping it under wraps.

  3. I was actually wondering when someone would come out with a great motorcycle scene like that one; it was just perfect.

  4. My money is on this movie as the biggest money maker this year and before it’s through it will be in the top 5 of all time. This will be one hell of a movie.

  5. You said it bro.

  6. IDK, from early reports it seems that Star Trek will make the most this summer, but I think Transformers and Terminator will compete for a close second.

  7. Stephen, those guys will only say that for people who are not anticipating to anticipate to possibly have a large opening. I don’t Transformers will be better than Terminator. That is for sure.

  8. i don’t think the pg-13 rating is disappointing b/c if it was a R rated movie it would make far less money which could cause the sequels not to be made or it could cause a smaller budget(i think T4 is like 185 million) or maybe it may cause not getting a top notch actor in the sequels.

  9. cookie i dont no i project transformers 2 to make 415 mill and wolverine to make 385 million. And as for star trek i dont no it will definitely make a lot somewhere around 350 million i think. I think it will be very close. my projection for t4 different about 350-450 million. It looks great and has a very popular actor in it but T2 only made 202 million domestic. By the way all my projections are domestic only no foreign.

  10. by the way terminator 1 made less than 100 million and T3 made 150 million.(domestic)

  11. @ Darren

I am sure that Terminator will be better than Transformers as a movie overall, I’m just talking about which one will probably make the most money.

  12. hi,
my personal thought: a visual effects stunning movie (but same goes for transformers) yet aside from that – we wont get much.

  13. hud those numbers are very unrealistic and won’t happen especially Wolverine.

On another note I’m excited that this movie will be PG13 it will be an excellent film it seems and PG13 is it’s best chance to make great money. To be honest I never really thought you needed an R movie for Terminator I mean it’s about killing machines no gore and you don’t need to go crazy with the f bombs. In fact very few films really need an R. I think more often than not films end up being better by being PG13 because instead of relying on raunchy humor, curse words and extreme gore you actually have rely on the quality of the film for the most part or at least the hype of it. R has it’s on special audience, but PG 13 for the most part is the best rating for a film. The movies are usually better and money is definitely better.

I’m by no means a prude I curse all the time it’s practically the only words I use and I love to see nudity don’t get me wrong, but it simply isn’t needed and will not benefit the film in anyway. Gore on the other hand … Well simply not a fan to be honest I’m glad he didn’t get elected…. Oh wait the other gore. Not a fan of that either it’s always very inaccurate and is just to put people in seats and never serves a story purpose and is just idiot fodder.

after looking at the numbers and seeing xmen 3 get 234 million dallors. iv changed my prediction to 300 million because wolverine was the most popular character and the movie is all about him so i think 66 mill over last movie is a good projection and as for the rest im fine with my predictions and i think they will be spot on.

  15. sorry ill down star trek projected grosing to 260 million

  16. @Hud, T2 “Terminator 2, Judgment Day” for its time (1991)was the biggest 3 day opening weekend ever !!! 52.5 million, wheeww !!!
Seems like a hundred years ago but I remember that weekend…Comparing todays economic factors your point is kinda irrelevant, however interesting. I do agree the film will make some serious bank bro… ;-)

Daniel, I really loved it, when in (T2) Sarah Connor said, “What the f*** is that?, what the f*** is going on?” It added a sense of realism to the moment, saying anything else would have seemed out of place and lame,,,
Also the awesome scenes with Dr Silberman had to have the F bomb in there to be realistic… (Imo)
    ^
Besides all that I have to admit for the first time this new footage does look fracken real good and I’m actually looking forward to T4 !!!

I hope the film is good,,, and does well not for Mcg but for the Terminator Franchise. ;-)

  17. @hud, I really hope you’re factoring inflation into those numbers, because I remember back in 1991, it only cost like $2-$3 to watch a movie, not it’s $8 MINIMUM, I’ve heard as much as $12…

  18. not=now, oops

  19. I’m sorry, but no way Wolverine makes 300 mil. X3 was coming off the hills of a great film with X2. Wolverine will be coming after a film that was widely hated which is X3. Most of X3′s numbers were very frontloaded and it had one of the biggest drops for a movie after the first week or two. Not to mention that Wolverine was leaked a month early has gotten very mediocre reviews so far and pissed a lot of people off with certain things they have done. It will be a success, but 300 isn’t that likely. I’ll gladly admit I was wrong if it turns out I am, but I don’t see 300 million as a remote possibility even. I see it getting more around the numbers of X2, but more than X3 is unlikely.

Also I don’t think Transformers will cross the 400M mark I don’t see it beating Spiderman one or even Two for that matter. You seem to be over projecting every film. Terminator is probably your most accurate projection with Star Trek in second, but still fairly off.

  20. Aesthetically, the thing that always does it for me is the sound. Music, sound effects, underlying sounds, etc. Those two trailers have a little different twist that aren’t on typical trailers that really do it for me. I’m stoked about this film. Let’s hope it lives up to the first two films and is better.

  21. “Let’s hope it lives up to the first two films and is better.”

Whoa now, let’s not have our heads in the clouds. Those are some high expectations. However hoping it is better than the third one would be setting the standard pretty low… so I guess you’ll have to find a balance somehow, lol.

  22. Daniel F,

Out of curiosity, do you have any estimates on Wolverine, Trek, T4, Transformers numbers?

I don’t think they’ll be that high either, btw, but I always like to hear estimates and projections.

  23. I say this movie being PG-13 is a problem cause you can’t make the first two movies Rated-R then make the next movies PG-13 to me it’s not the same

  24. @Blaze

These days it seems you can make a PG-13 movie almost as violent as R – just leave out the blood and the MPAA says “cool, PG-13 for you.”

    Vic

wolverine was the most popular character by far in the movies. I think people got sick of looking at Halle Berry and Rouge with her stupid accent. I thought most of the characters were dumb in fact. But origins has gambit probably the 2nd most popular x-men and sabretooth the coolest bad guy from x-men so yes i think origins will make far more than the 215 million X2 got. and tramsformers made 315 million and most(like 90% of people who saw it) thaught this movie was assome, so i see a increase to at least 360 million
    Ken J
it cost 7.50 to watch movies in the town next to me, but in Fresno, Ca it cost 8.00(they have huge screens and chairs that lean back, also very clean) so how in the world does it cost 12.00 bucks and iv asked my friends and they said it cost like 6.00 bucks back when T2 was around but no i didn’t factor in inflation.
My present prediction are as follows
    transformer 405 Million
    Terminator 4 380 million
    wolverine 325 Million
Star Trek 285 Million(not to familiar with star trek)

  26. the reason star trek is lower is because iv asked my friend about about these 4 blockbuster movies and they are stoked about 3 of them guess which one the are not stoked about you got it right star trek. I think it looks cool but it has the same feel as watchman did. a lot of movie goers didn’t like because it was different than most big budget movies. I think it made about 150 million which was my projection. My feeling about star trek isn’t as bad. I feel that it is different than a lot of movies not nearly as bad as watchman was but different. so thats why i put it as low as i put it.

  27. if terminator gets a R rated rating than i think it will make 345 million instead of 380 million.
the wolverine movies screener that got leaked, Lets say 1 million people downloaded and watched it and at 9 dollars a ticket that’s nine million dollars.but the people that were desperate enough to watch a illegal movie that wasn’t finished are also the people that would want to see the finished movie. So i think the leaked movie will only make it loose between 5 and 15 million dollars.

  28. I’m not even gonna try landing an exact number like hud I mean if you put an exact number you guarantee your gonna be wrong, but I’ll give you a smallish like range of numbers. These are based on pre-sales, popularity and how wide spread the names are. Hype and marketing. I try not to let hype cloud my judgment.

    Transformer 300 – 330 Million
    Terminator 4 320 – 360 million
    Wolverine 225 – 260 Million
    Star Trek 200- 230

Sorry Ken , but I’m with the other poster I hope this one is better than both Terminator one and Two since I didn’t find them to be that great. I didn’t really care for one very much and I found Two to be entertaining, but I wasn’t blown away. This one so far seems to be more complex and has more depth it damn sure seems it will have better acting.

  29. Well, it can be “better” in your opinion, which very well could be true. Doesn’t mean it “IS” better. I’m sure you like plenty of movies that the majority of people consider to be total garbage, just like how I liked Last Action Hero, lol.
