This is interesting...when I first looked at the poster I didn't see the blood spill at all, just the two figures. I had just assumed that they were silhouetted on a red background.

New season of True Blood starts in 10 days!

@ Claire,

The opposite for me, the first time I saw this in a large format all I saw was the blood on first glance till I read a sentence explaining it. Then it took a few seconds for me to focus on the faces.

Now that I know what it is, I can't really make out the blood and all I see are the obvious silhouettes. It's a neat illusion which different people see differently :)

btw, there's a second poster out there that's exactly the same except with the tagline changed. Instead of "Ready for Seconds?" it says "Ready for New Blood?" but I like ours better :)

Wow, i didn't even notice the blood drain from the top left corner, I only saw the one person biting into the other person's neck. I totally didn't get what you meant when uou said the blood spill pattern. I had to stare intensely for about ten minutes to get it.

Ew. Please do not even mention True Blood in the same sentence as that cruddy Twilight. The books are way better than that Twilight mess. I don't know how I feel about some of the changes the show has made but I'm going to be optimistic. They nailed most of the characters so I'm willing to put up with a few deviations.

Well the other one is not actually a poster for the movie, he was just showing you the type of illusion they were using for this poster. That is a very old optical illusion thing with the faces making the cup...

I'm all over the vamp thing although I just can't get into Twilight. True Blood stays closer to the books than most but it's still changing things. Some they have to because of the hurricane - that caused some major plot changes that they will have to either figure out how to go backwards in time or just skip all together. That was a great book too.

The first couple of episodes just seemed like porno lite to get men to watch, not just women. It's true in the books that the brother porks just about any woman who slows down to a walk but geez!

Then I started recognizing characters from the books, knew why they were there even if it was so far in advance I realized that they were actually following the plot - to a point.

I think all the sex was originally thrown in to get men to watch - it made my husband want to see it. But once they got a couple of shows in it actually became a lot less porno and a lot more story. And I hope that they keep the Pelitier family in it instead of just using the character names.

So if I can't have Blood Ties at least I have a show that's on the correct cable channel appropriate to its subject matter (Blood Ties on LIFETIME?). I gave it a chance and after the first few episodes I was hooked and my husband hated it. That's exactly when the amount of hot chicks getting laid was greatly reduced. LOL

Random thought: GREAT poster (the one in blood). The other one is ok but not as clever or unusual. That type of imaging has been done before but you really had to look at the blood poster to see the different images. Well done.

And that's all the blathering I have left in me about this show for the moment. Yes, I know. You're welcome. ;)

The show actually starts off kinda slow, but really picked up after the 3rd episode.

It is actually one of the better shows on t.v. and I'm really looking forward to see what they are going to do this season.

I've never read the books the show is based on and thought the show would be stupid when I first saw it advertised on HBO. I watched the first episode about a week after it had aired initially and was hooked right away. I'm looking forward to more of the story.

But cool poster. :-)
