    @Paul Young

    Thanks for stopping by my blog.

    You can see some of the stuff we've been up to here...

    http://blackthornpictures.com/

    And we have more on the way. Sadly...no "mockbusters" or rip offs!

    I don't at all have a crush on Bale I think he is a very talented actor. That's not a crush in any way and I don't even like everything the guy is in. I'm very much a straight man though I will admit to having a huge man crush on Jensen Ackles.
  • Jago
    Yes crap... As is his performance in tdk everybody does have different opinions... Your crush on bale though might be affecting yours...
  • Daniel F
    I'm unsure if your being sarcastic or if you put the wrong name down. I'm a bale fan so yes there are plenty of Bale films I do like. If you were being sarcastic insert fake laughter here.

    There are Bale films that I didn't like though. Newsies being the worst. I also didn't like Little Woman, The Secret Agent, Shaft, The Portrait of a Lady, Captain Corelli's Mandolin, Reign of Fire was ok Bale did an excellent job in it, but the movie wasn't very good, and I'm not there was a film I didn't like as well. I really liked American Psycho, but I do think it's very over rated by it's huge cult following.
  • @DanielF - Are there any Bale movies that you do like? Equilbrium might be he best to me. (Wife woul disagree and say Little Women)
  • Daniel F
    I accept that some people like crap I know we all have different opinions.
  • Jago
    @ daniel f
    Well i guess they were poor for you richie rich but yes i'd prefer those batman films before these ones. The difference between batman begins and tdk "TO ME" is simply that bale seemed like an extra to me... Someone in the background. Even though i dislike the other batman movies ( forever and batman & robin) at no point did it feel like batman was an extra. Saying that transformers was utter crap knowing that not everybody is " daniel f" and we all have different opinions is what doesn't make sense.
  • Daniel F
    So you preferred the poor set designes of the Batman 89 and the poor story quality as well as the cheesy portal of Batman ? It may not of been the 60's version, but it was still very cheesy.

    Bale's performance was nearly exactly the same in TDK as it was in Begins only with more emotion. He cried a little more and was a little more angry. So how can you like one and not the other? Doesn't even make sense.
  • Jago
    @daniel f
    Actually its not about being a "hater"... I'm just going to balance out your hatred for transformers with how i personally feel about bales performance in tdk... Yes he was awesome in batman begins but tdk to me is only watchable more then once for ledgers performance. I fast foward through his scenes because bale doesnt even seem needed in the movie and batman in costume could've just been some random stunt double that could do a raspy voice. So again its not "hating" it's a simple opinion... Plus my fav batman movies were the one with keaton not bale as i mentioned in an earlier thread.
  • @Leigh Scott

    Totally have to give the Asylum credit for finding their niche. Have they ever aspired to be something more than what they are doing? Some of their stuff is utter nonsense but they have alot of scripts that just need the right amount of massaging to work.

    What is your production company up to now?
  • Daniel F
    jago now I know your just a hater lol by saying his TDK performance was bad. Maybe some didn't think it was amazing, but to say it was bad is just clearly bashing for no other reason to bash. That's like me saying Transformers had bad special effects. It clearly didn't. I can admit good things about Transformers no matter how much I hated it. The film had great special effects. Shia Labuff while being a bit over rated id dependable enough to always put on a decent performance, and Megan Fox is hot. Oh and it made a lot of money.
  • Leigh Scott
    @Paul Young
    Thanks for the retraction :)

    I left the Asylum in late 2007 to set up my own production company. It wasn't a totally happy parting of ways. I still have a lot of respect and personal affection for those guys. When you consider the number of companies and producers that go out of business and loose millions of dollars every year you have to give them a little credit for finding something that works. They also give a lot of young people their first jobs and they really foster hard work and reward loyalty. If anything, the big guys with the big bank accounts and the freedom to be more original should receive the venom.

    And thanks for the note about the film being underfunded. Too true. I wonder how it would turn out if you handed out the script for TRANSMORPHERS and the script for TRANSFORMERS and asked film fans which script should be made for $200 million?
  • Advantus
    Tongue in cheek...I sure hope so...otherwise why you wouldn't reference Bruce with B5 LOL. Are the readers getting so young they think B5 is a vitamin now?
  • There a place for these films in the world. It gives people a chance to break into the business that wouldn't normally get it. Add it produces jobs. That's always a plus.
  • T-Lee
    I watch all these films on the Sci-Fi channel. They are aweful but so fun to watch. That's how they make their money back. They release them as DVD rentals, they are probably distributed internationally, and cable networks like Sci-Fi broadcast them. Remember the production values are so bad that they probably cost very little to make and therefore very cheap to distribute. Look at all the people in this thread who have seen them. They seem to get around. ;-)
  • John "Kahless" Taylor
    I can't see how these people dodged litigation; lawyers live for suing people.

    On the topic of Bale and Transformers; while I did enjoy Terminator Salvation, it had its problems but I wouldn't say Bale's acting was one of them. I've seen Bale in many films and he has talent. I blame McG for his wooden performance in this one.

    Transformers had great special effects and some great action, but the acting and plot was horrible. To be honest, I have a hard time watching it again because of the bad acting and stupid humor. These are just my opinions. I know people who loved Norbert but I would watch Battlefield Earth before I watched that flim..I mean, film.
  • jago
    as is bales performance in terminator salvation... i think the kid that played kyle reese could've done a better connor. If the first transformers played in the theater right now i'd rather watch that then that terminator salvation... bale with his batman voice made me dislike the whole franchise... his performance was terrible... "its as simple as that".

    P.S. i believe he sucked in tdk as well.. had it not been for the joker carrying him throughout the whole movie.
  • Daniel F
    That's your opinion on both subjects. Like it or not it's just as simple as I thought Transformers was the worst major blockbuster in the last few years and there are to many people that praise the idiotic-ness behind it.
  • jago
    @Daniel f
    yes this one was... not so much all the other ones you mentioned it. I still think something happened to you during a transformers movie that you mention it almost every other thread...

    P.S. as "great" as an actor as bale supposedly is... he sucked in terminator salvation. At least for me he did.
  • Daniel F
    jago Bale's a great actor and Transformers was a crap movie. It's that simple. No secret sinister reason behind it. If you'll notice this article is related to transformers so I had every reason to bring it up.
  • Leigh Scott - If that truly is you;

    I hereby retract my comment about the director, Leigh Scott, knowing about the sync problems and doing nothing about it.

    I found your blog while research this story. It is now bookmarked and I plan on checking it out frequently. Your blog is very humorous and I loved the behind-the-scenes stories from the filming.

    Why weren’t you asked to write the second one? You’re first story didn't suck, your budget did :) I believe I may own the only copy in Jacksonville of Transmorphers and I have the one with the sync problems. I wonder if the studio would replace it for me.
  • Leigh Scott
    If you must know...the producers were up against a deadline on the original and ended up releasing a version that was out of sync. The director had nothing to do with it and actually stayed up all night for weeks desperately trying to fix bad cgi shots (he ultimately failed). Later releases of the DVD were fixed.
  • Transmorphers 1 was so bad that the studio and director knew about the audio syncs problems that occur for almost 15 mintues of the film and either couldn't corrected or didn't try to. Tey released the DVD with the sync problems. That to me is just piss poor laziness. Who cares if it sucks. At least attempt to produce it with some sort of self esteem.
  • Matt Keith
    jago,

    Some people just like to hate.
  • @skippy

    These are all straight to video.

    Vic
  • skippy2057
    @Joshi

    Well played. Well played.
  • jago
    @daniel f
    when your not defending christian bale your bashing transformers... did anyone that worked on transformers do something to you personally. I know you hate it or dislike it or whatever and i know several others did as well but why bash it on almost every thread you comment on. Its almost as if you made the movie, bay stole it and made all the money whilst you made nothing. Did they turn down christian bale from that movie...? that you bash it so much...
  • skippy2057
    So are these released in theaters at all, or just straight to video? I've never heard of any of these, but the trailer for the "Transmorphers" looked a bit like one of those SciFi channel things they keep pumping out.

    Weird that they can apparently maker money doing this. Which kinda makes me think "why can't I can't I come up with a soulless, schlocky idea and make a living at it"? Dang.
  • Cookie Garris
    You want to know the worst thing? The Day the Earth Stopped is almost as good(or bad) as The Day the Earth Stood Still!
  • Daniel F
    Never heard of them before though I will say as terrible as it looks that Transmorphers looks better than the actual Transformers. SFX aren't as good, but the movie it's self looks like it would be better. Now that's sad.
