‘Transformers 4′ TV Trailer & Clip: Drift in Action and More Dinobots [Updated]

UPDATE: Scroll Down to see a clip from the film!

The big tentpole film of June 2014 is Transformers: Age of Extinction, the fourth film in Michael Bay’s Transformers franchise, which will allegedly serve as the first chapter in a brand new trilogy – featuring brand new human and Transformers characters in addition to the ones we know and love.

Transformers 4 has been a curious beast, in terms of marketing; whereas previous installments have gone all out to show fans the biggest, baddest, most explosion-heavy scenes throughout each respective film, Age of Extinction has relied on pretty much showing off the same footage in every trailer and TV spot. Today’s “Judgement Day” TV trailer, however, shows us a little bit more new stuff – the biggest thing being our first good (if not brief) look at new Autobot, Drift.

Drift is a Samurai-themed Autobot from the Transformers G1 cartoon; in the original series, he was a reformed Decepticon seeking to regain his honor by serving the Autobots. In the new film, Drift will inexplicably sport the face based on a samurai warrior’s mask, while his vehicle form will be a sleek black-on-blue Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse. The character will be voiced by Godzilla and The Last Samurai star, Ken Watanabe.

NOTE: it’s interesting to see that at :36 Drift is doing battle with multiple models of that new magenta-colored Transformer type, which looks to be constructed out of nano-tech, or something. Not sure that we knew there would be more than one.

Other than Drift, we get more looks at classic characters like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee – as well as new characters like Crosshairs, Hound and (if you look at the screen BEFORE playing the video) the recently-revealed Dinobots. There are also new human characters on the good side (Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor), the bad side (Kelsey Grammer and Titus Wlliver) and in between (Stanley Tucci), but do you really care that much about them?

UPDATE: Case in point – here’s an all-human clip from the film. Does it hook your interest (even with Kelsey Grammer in it)?

Transformers: Age of Extinction will be in theaters on June 27, 2014.

  1. I need more info on the story, because I’m just not that excited for this film. It looks like more of the same drivel. The Dinobots might have potential.

  2. I’m not really looking forward to this movie but Drift is making me want to watch it now.

  3. One small error. Crosshairs is the name of the green corvette not Slingshot. :)

Also have you guys seen the new clip between Wahlberg and Grammer from the Late Show?

    • The Crosshairs/Slingshot thing has been corrected. Thx!

  4. To answer that last question. the answer is no. Also look imdb’s webpage for this film. It’s still in post-production. It’s clear to me that things are NOT going according to plan.

  5. Drift is not fighting multiple Stingers. He’s fighting Vehicons. Stinger is completely separate and different from the Vehicons. The only similarity he shares with them is he is built by humans (KSI), too.

  6. Also, I see the bias and negative attitude continues. Slingshot is not the character’s name; it’s Crosshairs and it’s been confirmed as that. Slingshot was a production code name.

And, for that last question, yes. Yes, I do care about the humans, especially this film’s. The human element in this movie looks very good, but you wouldn’t know that, now would you? Nah.

    • Are they gonna show more on Galvatron in these trailers? It would seem that the main villain is Lockdown and not Galvatron.

      • No problem for your mistake. But, they’ve been advertising Lockdown as the main villain and not Galvy. Galvatron is a mysterious piece of this film. They’ve really kept him hidden.

    • Opps, did not meant to reply.

  7. Drift is a total homage to Tokyo Drift.

  8. “OH MY GOD”

  9. yaaaawwwnnnn

why is it that in every one of these movies theres someone that calls out either “BUMBLEBEE!!” or “OPTIMUSSS!!”??

    lame

    • No one yells optimus or bumblebee..

  10. Yeah, all that great action is wasted if the story is as bad as the last two. I can forgive the first one, but the other two were horrid wastes of great effects…

  11. Galvatron has to be the key player. If they follow transformer lore at all, he has to be the next leader of the decepticons, and imo more powerful than megatron. I had theories on previous tf movies, and my theories turned out to be cooler than what the writers did. Here is my theory (hope?) for this one. …..
Unicron has sent lockdown to capture prime in order to get the matrix. At some point, Unicron has to give the human made Galvatron a true spark and upgrade him significantly. Thus he keeps his human given name, but becomes the leader of the decepticons with newly made Cyclonus at his right hand. (Much like the cartoon movie.) And, Galvatron leads the decepticons for the next few movies.

  12. Who is the TF that is all in tiny parts and reforms into a robot?

    • Dunno who but it reminds me of Monsoon from Metal Gear Solid Revengeance

    • Decepticon Stinger. The Pagani Huayra.

    • That is Stinger if we are referring to the same thing.

  13. Stinger, he is a human made transformer. He may likely be turned into a decepticon. And I think that the theory of Galvatron given a true spark from unicron is a good prediction. Have the film before the last film be about trying to find primus.
