Transformers 33 First Look at Transformers 3 Poster [Updated]

[Update: Michael Bay pointed out on his forum that the poster and its tagline are fake and misleading. Here’s the official Transformers 3 logo.]

A mysterious image of a poster and easel released online depicts what may be our first look at a one-sheet for Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon. Production is still underway on the Transformers 3 which is being made for 3D and like last time, when Revenge of the Fallen was being made, the cast is saying Transformers 3 will actually be good.

The image comes from a source of TFormers and appears to be a photo taken during a press event/conference for Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon. Note the tagline which reads “be afraid of the dark” hinting at what might be a introduction of some horror elements and darker themes for Michael Bay’s third explosive robot film.

The Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon poster shown here  is very reminiscent of what we’ve come to expect from the marketing materials designed for the previous two Transformers movies. The big call-out about this shot in particular is that it also reveals a closer look at new character to the franchise, and one of the most important characters in Transformers lore: Shockwave. The character’s head was shown before on set but this is a more detailed look into his (its?) facial features.

Shockwave has been a fan-favorite character and highly-demanded Decepticon since Transformers hit theaters back in 2007. Shockwave is known for his loyalty and unique look, having only one eye and being able to transform into a giant cannon. A description for the Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon book confirmed his appearance in TF3 and describes him as follows:

There’s new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime ‘Transformers’ character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.

Transformers 2 suffered, among many other issues, from having villains that were misused and out of place. With Megatron expected to return and rumors of bigger, badder robots making an appearance, we can only hope that Shockwave is given an appropriate role, balanced amongst the large cast of human and Cybertronian characters.

If you missed them, here are some Transformers 3 set photos which show off a lot of the Autobots.

  1. looks awesome, 100% sure this one is gone be good !

  2. So its not The Dark Of The Moon now? Dark Side Of The Moon?

    • No, It’s confirmed as ‘Dark of the Moon’.

  3. I heard this was fake. Looks fake too. Don’t have a source though.

  4. Shockwave!

  5. interesting… not holding my breath though… i hope this one is better then the 2nd… i could make a transformers movie better then the 2nd with $100 limit… pretty sure… although the graphics would suck, the story would be top notch… not saying, just saying…

  6. I love the fact Bay is bringing Shockwave, finally, but I hope he actually gives the character screentime. I love both films, but I hate how they treated the villains. Megatron only appeared in the third act, and The Fallen only had a maximum of ten minutes of screentime, and a weak final battle. Please don’t do the same with Shockwave.

    • yeah i know know there might not be another transformers

  7. Seems that the promo team is playing up the ominous name. Hope it lives up to the fear factor.

  8. Friken mind blowing!!!

    (Sarcsim) :/

  9. This isn’t a poster…it’s a threat…

  10. 20 bucks says that the moon is Unicron

  11. Is it possble this might actually be good?…

    • well i think it might.. maybe one the same level as the first one which i found to be quite entertaining.

      • Yeah I had very few problems with the first film, it was undeniably entertaining, there was a sense of fun that was utterly missing from the sequel.
I’m not one if those people who hates Michael Bay, he’s made a few films that I really enjoy.
I’d like this to be fun like the first one. Here’s to hoping anyway.

        • I found the setup in the first half of the first film to be promising, up until the ‘urination’ scene. Everything after that descended into screenplay hell where things happen for very poorly thought out reasons, or just as often, no reason at all. There are plenty of other reasons I hated it which have all been mentioned before, and which continued in the second film and were amped up on steroids, but the kernel of a good film franchise was there to start out with.

I have little hope for the third installment, though I would love to see a different director’s take on the material should a reboot happen. Someone like Abrahms or Whedon.

      • First one had problems but it was very fun to watch. The second took every problem and made it worse, while adding other problems instead of improving on anything.

This one I don’t know what to expect.

        • I really don’t see these “problems”. I’m usually a noir, thriller, plot twist, period piece, ganster type of guy. But I’m also a huge sci fi, transformers need and I really didn’t see anything that bad with ROTF. If it’s the weed and/or sex jokes…ahh nevermind :).

          • My only problem (well excluding the huge plot holes) is that Bay went over-board with his sense of “humor”. May be I’m too mature for my age, but pot jokes, testicles, and about fifty (more or less) fart jokes don’t do it for me. All those just over-shadowed the film’s dark tone (imo). Even at the climax of the movie, it doesn’t take it self serious.

      • Nevermind. Lol…

  12. Dark of the Moon.. Motion picture soundtrack by Pink Floyd?

  13. WOHOO !! Shockwave !!

  14. So its a fake poster…

  15. That’s awesome even though it looks fake, probably is lol
