transformers 3 space Transformers 3 Opening Scene Revealed?

[UPDATE - Click here: for Transformers 3 spoilers (and to talk freely after you've seen the film).]

CHUD has posted a description of what is allegedly the opening scene of Transformers 3. Naturally this should be considered A POSSIBLE TRANSFORMERS 3 SPOILER, so from here on out you read at your own risk.

However, it’s not that big of a spoiler to remind of the Transformers 3 story details we’ve already covered on the site, so we’ll do a quick recap and then move on to the juicy new SPOILER.

Here’s the Transformers 3 synopsis that our own Rob Keyes provided readers with a few weeks back:

The story of Transformers 3 also promises to bring an interesting plot centered around the space race between the Soviet Union and the United States, hinting that there was some alien influence guiding what happened in one of the most notable aspects of the Cold War.

That description tied this third Transformers film to an idea that was presented in the very first teaser trailer for Transformers 1.  If you don’t remember that clever little teaser, I’ve included it below to jog your memory:

Robot aliens messing around with humanity’s space race? That’s the kind of intriguing concept that reminds you that a brilliant filmmaker like Steven Spielberg is actually involved in this Michael Bay mess of a franchise – is Spielberg taking a more active role in Transformers 3, as some are already speculating?  (Side Note: isn’t it crazy how different the final Transformers 1 movie turned out when compared to that awesome teaser? Talk about losing focus…)

So, now that we’ve set the stage we can move on to the SPOILER about the opening scene of Transformers 3. Without spoiling anything, I can tell you:

  • It’s NOT Megan Fox dying.
  • It’s NOT a major robot character dying.
  • Sam Witwicky’s (Shia LaBeouf) parents are NOT revealed to be robots in disguise – which was my guess :-P.

Read on below for the description of how we will (allegedly) be introduced to Transformers 3:

-

HIGHLIGHT THE TEXT BELOW TO READ IT – SPOILER ALERT!

There’s a disturbance on the Moon. A robot shaped disturbance. Scientists on Earth see this and the information gets passed up the chain of command. In the White House men in black suits are breathlessly running through the halls, and they burst into the Oval Office. The president is behind the desk, back turned to the door, looking out the window. One of the men tells the president, ‘Sir, something’s happened on the Moon!’ The president turns around.

It’s John F. Kennedy.

For the rest of the opening scene SPOILERS you can head on over to CHUD.

A nice winking and fun way to open the movie, in my opinion. I won’t speculate too much at the risk of spoiling things for those who want to remain in the dark (so why are you still reading this, I wonder?) – but I can say that the thought of a Transformers movie which has an intriguing story on top of the mindless (and often indistinguishable) robot action is a fragile hope I pray doesn’t get shattered when the first trailers surface.

In the meantime, occupy yourselves with some other surprising hints of what Transformers 3 has in story for us by checking out our exclusive image gallery of the Chicago set.

Transformers 3 will infiltrate (3D and 2D) theaters on July 1, 2011.

  1. Sounds like it would be cool. I’m just glad that Spielberg will have more influence on the film this time.

  2. That’s from the Transformers two movie…

  3. I like it. Playing with mythos is always a plus

  4. Wait maybe it was from the first transformer movie.

  5. Misread, my bad :P

  6. hey

  7. well transformers is ruined for me because they have created so many holes and loss in the continuity and the nonstop action and cheesy sexual humor. they had a tank in the first film called devestator then a bunch of robots as devestator in the sequel coming from space so i am no longer interested in this franchise i just wish hollywood would work on these type of mistakes because it make these films fail. like x-men 3 and origins and spiderman 3 and other films beast was a human in x-2 then in x-3 he was big and blue, and many many other things where dissapionting like killing off the main good guy cyclops wtf,and origins butchered many characters like blob, deadpool and wolverine himself. i think i might just start waiting for dvds.

    • …and how in Tim Burton’s Batman Harvey Dent was black and then Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever.

      • Well back in 1989 Billy D. Williams was indeed Harvey Dent and also he was thinking they would have him back in Batman Returns directed by Burton. Now Billy D was let’s say disapointed to say the least. So WB bought out his contract he finished his role in the 89 Batman film and was done. Then when Batman Forever ame out that director wanted to use Two-Face thusly bringing in Mr. Jones!

  8. Sounds cool, but Bay will screw it up.

  9. but.. but.. it’s Michael Bay! EXPLOSIONS!!!
    Michael EXPLOSIONS Bay!!!
    Mich-splosions-ael BAY!
    Mi-SPLOSIONS-BOOM-chael Bay-splosions!!!!
    EXPLOSIONS!!

It CAN’T have a story.. where would they fit all the EXPLOSIONS!!! BOOM!!!! SPLOSIONS!!!!!

This is a no starter from the get go, for me.

    • lol
Micheal Bay will include the story for 2 seconds. I mean, remember that part with that FALLEN guy?? He did something on the pyramid. There were explosions but something in the screenplay progressed.
Micheal Bay sucks. I mean it. He isn’t a director. I still feel he’s worse than M. Night.

    • I agree. One thing Michael Bay always does right is the explosions. I’ve gotta hand that to him.

    • Take two transformer toys, smash them together and make explosion sounds like a 3 year, and that’s how Michael Bay get his ideas for a scene!

  10. PEOPLE CAN F@#K WITH BAY ALL THEY WANT BUT HE’S 7 AND 1 WITH BOX OFFICE CHA-CHING ONLY MISS BEING “THE ISLAND” AND TF2 IS ACTUALLY HIS HIGHEST GROSSING FILM AT 820M WORLDWIDE SO I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS ATTACKING HIM AND HIS FILMS, THE GUY IS AN ACTION FILM DIRECTOR, THATS WHAT HE DOES, THATS HIS GENRE, AND TF2 OBVIOUSLY NOT PERFECT, WAS NOT AS BAD AS PEOPLE MAKE IT OUT TO BE, NOW COULD YOU CUT 15 MIN OF BULLS$%T OUT OF IT AND MAKE IT BETTER, ABSOLUTELY, BUT HONESTLY I BELIEVE THIS FRANCHISE HAS BEEN REALIZED AS BEST AS IT COULD BE BY BAY AND SPIELBERG, AND I FOR ONE AND MY SON ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE THIRD FILM,AS I’M SURE IT’S GOING TO BE THE BEST ONE.

    • I love Bay’s films, but I can definitely see why most don’t like them. To me they’re just mindless fun. Sure, I love to watch movies that make me think, but sometimes I just want to watch stuff blow up.

      • “mindless fun”. Yeah. I don’t see how transforming robots can be anything but mindless fun.

      • I TOO love mindless fun! Don’t think that just because I hate loath and despise Michael Bay it’s because I require talky boring pseudo-intellectual claptrap to make a film interesting.

I probably love more films than the average poster on this forum (at least it certainly seems that way to me.. with all the films forum members and forum mods lambaste, that *I* loved).

But Michael Bay should be a 2nd unit director. He’s a damned genius when it comes to putting together an action sequence with (yeah, yeah… SPLOSIONS!!!!) tons going on. But the dude can’t handle a whole film. He’s just in way over his head. He has so much pointless and unjustified camera movement in his films that it gets incredibly annoying, to the point of becoming nauseous.

He’s like a director with ADD. The camera can’t sit still for more than a second without his feeling the need to toss in some extraneous pan, or push, or jiggle.

I hope Spielberg pulls that leash tight for the next Transformers film. Bay could actually learn a thing or ninety from Spielberg. I’m going to keep my fingers crossed that he actually DOES pull a rabbit out of his… erm… hat, and makes Transformers 3 a watchable film.

  11. Yeah.. more then likely the opening is going to change. At leaste I hope it does. I too am tired of the over played human element of these films. The G1 cartoon had very little human action, it was mostly Spike, Sparkplug and Chip. Oh and Dr. Arkiville (sp) most likely to be played by John Malcovitch!! Think about it and check out the Red trailer and tell me he woldn’t make a good Doc. So I just want less human action more robot hitting and smashing ups. And a better opening. Like the second one opened right on the action with Sidewase and Demolisher and all that. But what ever happens I too hope Spilberg steps in from time to time and says “hey mike lets vocus in on the robots here for a little bit.” A guy can dream can’t he?

  12. The space race took place in the sixties. The rover mission in twothousand and three. The U.S had possession of the MBE1 and MBE2. However, there was no mention of any Autobot or Decepticon working for any scientist at the time. Teh more they try to conect our history with the robots the more they seem to mess it up.

  13. Btw… i was in Chicago this past weekend and stumbled upon the Transformers 3 set that was being shot in downtown Chicago. this huge like 2 mile stretch of road tore up with debris and cars everywhere and things burning… i shot a video of the chase scene they were filming… its not amazing footage, but you can find it on youtube under the name (Transformers 3 chase scene, if u are unsure if its it, u can hear me giggling throughout the whole thing cuz i couldnt believe it i was too excited) or the link below will lead u straight to it. in it i describe what is actually going on. im pretty pumped about this film now. the set looked amazing. there was so much to it that it leaves me wondering how much more they will put into it thats gonna be CGI. Seriously, Mike Bay may not be the greatest storyteller (ie, Part 2 was sooo drawn out and terrible in the middle), but he def knows how to build some sick sets, and blow things up!

    • Nice shot of Prime with his trailer!! It’s about time they add it in to the series.

  14. Bay has already acknowledged that they are going to reboot this thing.. so why do a part 3????

    • He never that it *would* be rebooted, but that it *might* (as in not sure).

    • Why reboot something that has never really been done in this scale? Is there someone out there that can and will make it worse then it has become?

  15. I wouldnt worry about explosions.
I am sure Bay will blow up at least part of the moon .

  16. Hold the phone here the Beagle mission really was in 2003! That was our only warning? Now your talking 1960′s in Trfmrs.#3? What is this, “Star Trek the voyage home the untold story?” Was that alien wessel looking for whales really a leftover tube of Transformers? Yeah… this is getting a little messed up if you ask me. What’s Labeef going to do, play his own dad in this one? Yeah that’s a good way to get rid of Megan Fox. We’ll retroactively abort her as a character. Maybe that was cheaper than buying out her contract…

  17. I really hope this is much better than the second one now that we have more of Spielberg’s involvement…
