transformers 3 updates Transformers 3: The Twins Are Not Back

Production is underway on Michael Bay’s Transformers 3 and some unexciting updates have hit the internet from TFLAMB, who reported yesterday that someone saw the Twins from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen during shooting. The Twins of course, were the controversial stereotype robots hand-created by Bay for inclusion in the movie and were some of the worst characters ever seen on screen, ever. It wasn’t the racial controversy that bothered me so much as it was how bad their dialogue was and how much they factored into the movie.

Michael Bay quickly clarified the matter today with an update on his site which simply stated, “The Twins are not back in TF3.” That’s one piece of good news, but I’m curious if they simply will pretend they didn’t exist or give them a cameo and kill them off. The way they’ve (mis)treated characters so far, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s no explanation given but we’re better off without them regardless.

On a brighter note, there are also some photos that surfaced showing off three of our main Autobot friends; Optimus Prime, Iron Hide and Ratchet.

The most recent updates regarding Transformers 3 were centered on new members being added to the cast, with the likes of Patrick Dempsey, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich and Ken Jeong all joining the franchise. But what about the characters from the first two movies, the Cybertronian ones? Let’s take a look at some familiar faces.

Optimus and the Iron Hide vehicles (you can see two in the image) are no different than what we know them to look like from the first two films, but Ratchet appears to have gotten a bit of a repaint or at least looks different from the side. Click to Enlarge:

Also, here’s a quick 30 second video from folks in LA who were right near the set during the filming of a scene where they flip a little car.

Our own Paul Young pointed out that the camera rig being used to shoot this sequence is not the right setup for shooting in 3D, with only one camera being used. That means either Transformers 3 is not coming in 3D or worse, it’s getting the fake 3D tacked in in post through a rushed conversion. The last we heard from Michael Bay on the subject, from back in march, is that the “jury is still out” on 3D.

I wonder if Ratchet will get to speak in the next movie…

  1. Is Bumblebee going to speak in this movie? At the end of the first one he was strting and then in the second one he was using the radio again and it was annoying.

  2. were some of the worst characters ever seen on screen, ever
    ————————————————————-

You need to watch more movies, pal.

    • Like Show Girls, or that stupid wagon’s west movie Bob Denver did or anything by Madonna, or half of what was produced during the 1980s and 75% of what came out in the 90s or… or… or

    • I watch enough as it is :)

  3. Good, cuz those twins were more annoying than anything and one of the primary reasons my 10-yr old nephew isn’t allowed to watch T2RotF until he’s 13.

Honestly, why is Hasbro allowing Bay to destroy that franchise?

SO, any chance for Dinobots this time…?

    • SSHHHHHT! Don´t give him any bad ideas! He might take them seriously!

  4. Give Bumblebee a voice i want to hear him speak, and where are those dinobots??

  5. I don’t remember twins in Terminator 3.

  6. Almost, but not quite as annoying as Jar Jar. Glad to hear it!

Now, what about Megan Crotch? Hopefully we’ll have a heart wrenching, tear jerking death scene for her character….NOT!

  7. I really thought Bay would not allow the little people like us to tell him what was a bad idea for one of his films..I thought for spite he would put those twins back in the third film just to exercise his god complex..

So I guess this is “good” news?

  8. Is it just me or does Rachet look like on of those lunch trucks you see at construction sites?

  9. I for one liked the twins. I like their style of comedy. Who am I to judge since I’m a die hard Spongebob Squarepants fan who’s voice is the same voice as the twins.

  10. For the record, the Twins weren’t racist. They were stereotypical.

Not that I liked them, or anything. It was absolutely ridiculous. But people are too quick to pull the racism card.

  11. More crotch shots of Megan Fox
    No, seriously that was crass.

How about focusing on the robots NOT the humans for once.

  12. I think this could just be misinformation from Bay. He knows mostly everyone hated The Twins, so saying they won’t come back could generate interest in the film. Anyway, I thought they were hilarious, too bad.

  13. ya honestly im sick of all the whining around transformers so bay didnt make a fanboy safe movie..get over yourselves it made tons of money..the third will be good but may suffer from bay trying to serve all the crybabies..worst characters ever..they were entertaining and helped expand the audience through comedy..not everyone faps it to giant robots all day

    • Hm, well said, I agree. It’s too bad really, people need lives. Everyone wants to pull the racism card so fast nowadays, it’s so ridiculous. The twins were there for comedic relief, nothing more, nothing less, and they were in no way racist. However they were in fact made to be by the audience, not the filmcrew or Bay, and thats sad. I for one enjoyed them and find it horrid that so many people who suffer from an excess of immaturity ruined the ride for everyone. Way I see it is this. If you’re a person that enjoys a good laugh, and isnt uptight, then you’ll enjoy the twins and most likely the film, nuff said. Granted the film itself in storyline and screenplay seemed rushed, I still think they did a better job than they did in the first. There was far more action, and it was more realistic. Catering to those that are just going to whine no matter what be it fanboys or those that like to pull the race card all the time, is just going to ruin the transformers ride. I seriously doubt I’ll be wanting to see the 3rd because of Bays willingness to cater to the insignificant. Its really too bad, he was doing such a great job on his own..should just continue and refuse to listen. Not everyone is going to like everything, and some might not like something just because someone else in fact does. Just the way it is..

  14. No ghetto robots? Thank goodness! And let’s hope there are no leg-humping robots either, or no Terminator-like Transformers.

    • And please, no genetalia.

  15. Mna I just reealized I havnt even seen part 2… where have i been?

    • At a safe place…

    • Good for you! The 2nd one is horrid! Everything about it is terrible. Can’t think of ONE single saving grace.

And ignore those that disagree…..the twins are HORRIBLE characters. Can’t help but believe that those who actually enjoyed them are atleast A LITTLE racist, or VERY racist and in denial about it. lol.

  16. Pass the salt shaker, he said Megatron wouldn’t be back for ROTF.

  17. Thank you michael bay. I hated mupflap and skip. They were the worst things about the movie. The twins were worser than the roommate. Don’t EVER bring the twins back for any tranformers sequel. I hope transformers 3 is better than transformers: revenge of the fallen. Revenge of the fallen was awesome (g.i. joe: the rise of cobra was way better), but I like the first movie more. I say no twins, roommate or the parents in the movie. All the other characters are fine.

    • I agree 100% with what you said in your comment. Kudos!

  18. Thank God, Bay does still has common sense afterall. I agree with Jody Curvey, I found both the Twins and that roomate Leo annoying as heck. The Twins even more though. I actually hoping Devastator destroyed Mudflap near the end and i like, oh c,mon. Anyways this great news to me knowing the Twins wont be back and i could less if the Leo doesnt too. I wish Bay would bring in the Dinobots, aswell as the Aerialbots that would combine. As for the Decepticons, Bay could always use the Stunticons to form Menasor to combat the Aerialbots in a giant robot fight.

  19. If this is the last installment of transformers, Bay should definitely have unicron be the villian. and hopefully the final battle will last more than 2 minutes. I would also like to see the dinobots, but I really can’t think of how he would work them in. I guess they could be in a history museum or something, but idk.

  20. For Transformers 3.
Well Starscream needs to be more badass like he was in the first
    Transformers movie. No Twins(very good).
Soundwave needs to get much more screentime.
It would be cool if Ravage could return.
Having one or more of the Aerialbots is a good idea(Silverbolt)
Transformers 3 will be better than Revenge of the Fallen.
I just have a feeling. It will be more akin to the first
    Transformers movie(2007) but better.

    • Of course the third movie will be better than Revenge Of The Fallen. Just because it can´t get any worse…

  21. in all sudden.. i lost the hype of watching tr3 just from reading your comments, LOL :D

  22. This film was horribe, no plot whatsoever. It sucked!

  23. The twins still don’t anger me as much. When compared to Jazz saying “What’s crackin’ bitches.” Followed by him being torn asunder.

  24. Thank Christ they won’t be

  25. Most of you people are so ignorant. Revenge of the Fallen could have been better but it is in no way a terrible movie. Anyone saying that is just full of it and you know it. The twins were annoying yes and there is definately to much human and not enough robot time. The movie was still awesome.

  26. I’m willing to bet anyone’s Salary or Job for that matter that neither the ‘Dinobots’ nor ‘Unicron’ will ever be in this film (maybe even any film for that matter). ‘Unicron’ is too big of an element to be in the sequel, and the ‘Dinos’ are too irrelevant in today’s world. I’m guessing that it will be based on the mythology of “Energon” and the “Life” of any ‘Transformer’ on Earth as we know it. How will the “Transformers” continue to live on Earth without an energy source to live off of? According to Hasbro’s CEO, “You’re going to see that great core mythology brought to the fore, and Michael is hard at work at making this a reality and we’re very excited about it,” Hasbro’s head Brian Goldner also quoted Mr. Bay stating, “What we’re really doing is getting back to some of the core character development and storytelling. And I think there’s some elements of the core story that the filmmakers, Michael in particular wanted to tell…” With that said, this sequels cast includes Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand, John Turturro, Patrick Dempsey, Ken Jeong, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Ramon Rodriguez, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, and Kym Whitley, they really are focusing on character placement and development. It will be pretty difficult for Bay & Spielberg to come up with something historic as well as original. Possibly by now everyone has read the “Leaked Script” that was release immaturely late last year and everyone should know how that story was told, but everyone should also keep in mind that not everything presented from a “Leaked Script” is considered a complete fake; Nevertheless, that most of what is said is completely useless. This same leaked script does point out an issue that the humans are revolting against the same “Transformers” that have turned up here on Earth, which coincidently has been expressed and shown online with pictures depicting city walls and garbage cans spray-painted with crossed-out “Autobot” or “Decepticon” logos depicted in a circle with the words “Go Home” sprayed below. Many of you believe stories related to the comics and cartoons may seem too “Old,” while others may believe the stories that are original and/or new may not seem too “Traditional.” Either way, Hasbro, Paramount, Michael Bay, and Steven Spielberg can’t make everyone happy at once. It will take several creative ideas to come together that will touch all generations. Basicly, from everything I’ve read (real or not) and stated here, Transformers 3 will be very simple (similar to Part 1) and less complex (similar to Part 2) where the storyline will be easy to follow, more understanding, over and above with dialog between the Humans and Robots; which will return with improvements and essentially become more in depth. By just adding a few newbie’s (Autobots / Decepticons) as well as bringing back all “survivors” from the last two films, I believe this film could be more epic than the other two combined; But, I believe that it will regrettably just resemble its predecessors and fail after its first opening weekend. The Transformers 3 story will suffer from dehydration while falling victim to an aging cast that will somehow bring some type of human emotion to the forefront.

  27. Hm too bad, I actually liked the Twins. I thought their anecdotal presence was refreshing, really. People really need to get a grip. It’s a shame so many are so eager to pull the “Oh that’s racist” card so fast nowadays. I see no harm in laughing at ignorance. People just need to sit back and relax, man..geez. Way to spoil the ride.

    • i agree with u man or woman the twins were my favorite characters just because there a little racist doesn’t mean to not bring them back. i bet if u ask any body they will say that the twins made them laughs.

      • The twins were the only thing that made me want to destroy the dvd.
Actually, the TF trilogy would have been nice if it wasn’t for all those cheesy moments at the end of the film (slow-mo close-ups of two people rnning to each other, kissing etc) AND the supposed-to-be-funny scenes which absolutely ruined the film. They were completely out of place and turned the trilogy into a disaster. It’s a shame that TF movies got to have a Sci-Fi genre on them, even. Thanks to Michael Bay, the sci-fi genre has completely died. Where are the days of smart, intelligent sci-fi movies with deep storyline?

  28. video is removed :(
