transformers 3 the ark Rumor Patrol: Omega Supreme is The Ark In Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Aside from comic book movies, Michael Bay’s Transformers movies are probably the most popular line films that web-head movie fans like to speculate about. On the one hand, dissecting every frame of footage and making guesses about who is who and what is what is fun. On the other hand, it does create a lot of RUMORS that ultimately need to be sifted through.

Comic Book Movie is spotlighting the latest rumor about Transfomers: Dark of the Moon, but I warn you up front that if wild rumoring gets you vexed, you might want to move on to another article. For those of you who want to hear the latest theory about which robot from the Transformers mythos is rumored to be featured in this third film, read on.

There’s actually two parts to this latest rumor that need to be looked at:

  1. The Titan-sized Autobot known as Omega Supreme is in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
  2. Supreme is actually The Ark, the Autobot spaceship seen crash-landed on the moon in the Transformers 3 teaser trailer.

CBM found this info on an Italian Transformers Blog that claims to have been “alerted by a reader” to a (totally unofficial) image of a giant Autobot. Take a look at the supposed concept artwork below:

Now, this Italian blog speculates (based on their reader’s guestimate) that this is concept art for an Autobot who, in vehicle form, is the Ark ship seen crash-landed at the end of that Dark of the Moon trailer. In robot form, the speculation is that the Autobot will be Omega Supreme.

If you don’t know the name, the character of Omega Supreme has had several different roles/origins in the Transformers mythos, depending on which version of the comic books or cartoons you followed. The Italian reader/blog DO speculate that the version of Omega Supreme featured in Dark of the Moon would be the Generation 1 cartoon version, which I personally remember from the awesome Rocket Command Center toy I owned as a child.

Interestingly enough, in the Transformers Animated mythos, Omega was an Autobot secret weapon who sacrificed himself to end the war between Autobots and Decepticons. He was badly damaged and so his mentor and friend, Ratchet, secretly put him into stasis mode by transforming his body into the spaceship that carried Optimus Prime and Co. to Earth, ultimately crash-landing into the mountainside. Later it was revealed that Omega Supreme was still functional and the Autobots re-activated him on Earth several times in order to thwart Megatron’s scheme of depleting Earth’s Energon – a scheme that involved using a space bridge to send Energon back to Decepticon henchman Shockwave on Cybertron. If you you’ve been following the news about Transformers: Dark of the Moon‘s storyline, you can obviously see where and how Omega Supreme would fit in.

So, in the end this RUMOR is basically coming from totally random and unconfirmed “sources,” but at the same time, it’s not necessarily as wild and senseless as it would initially seem. With the kind of 3D blockbuster tentpole that Transformers 3 is going to be, I wouldn’t put it past Michael Bay to stage an epic lunar showdown involving the Autobots reactivating The Ark and having Omega Supreme transform and stomp the Decepticons into moon dust. I only hope that if the big guy is indeed in the film, he gets put to MUCH better use than Devastator was in Revenge of the Fallen.

Would you like to see Omega Supreme as The Ark in Transformers 3?

Transformers: Dark of the Moon hits theaters (IMAX & 3D) on July 1, 2011.

  1. I totally had Omega Supreme as a kid too… THAT WOULD BE SO AWESOME.

  2. I’m down with Omega Supreme.

  3. that would be awesome

  4. I’m lovin the name

  5. Sounds too good to be true… only because I was expecting a aircraft carrier transformer (as per rumor) from the last movie. I think it was a carrier anyway — been awhile.

So was just wondering… why doesn’t the crashed ship (Ark) cast a shadow in the top pic? Hmm… must’ve been shot in a studio and now they expect us to all buy into it as reality! LOL

  6. Get the funk out of town. Omega Supreme?! That is nutty. Heck why not. Go out with a bang, put all your nuts on the table Michael Bay.

  7. Gee I wonder which transformers Michael Bay is going to Bastardize in this sequel. Wait let me guess, after they find the ark they spend the next 30 minutes showing how boring and unintereting the humans in the movie are before having the Transformers hit each other for a couple minutes. Rinse repeat.

  8. Would be interesting I guess if this is so. I just really hope they don’t make Omega as lame as they did Jetfire in Revenge of the Fallen. Cause that was pretty sad what they did to him.

  9. Sorry, but the concept art of Omega Supreme just looks like one big giant jumbled up mess.

    • I agree but it looks like someone took a Que from the last teaser ending and made something other than the title. Was Omega Supreme a 3-way Transformer in any of the continuities?

  10. Omega Supreme was my favorite Transformer as a kid, so yes I would love to see him incorporated into the movie somehow!!

  11. Wow hope thats not Omega Supreme i had Rocket Command Center Toy as a kid too. And that picture just looks like garbage. Why not just use someone like Astrotrain or Skylynx?

  12. If we’re going to have a movie about big stompy robots then we might as well have the biggest and stompiest.

  13. ComicBookMovie is notorious for bad info regarding the TF films. Plus, Take a look at that render. Those are clearly Bumblebee’s legs. Not just unofficial, 110% fake.

  14. I’m glad they told us because with designs that awful who can tell who’s who.

    • unless your color blind, cant distinguish anything, of course you won’t be able to tell them apart, i require glesses and even without them i can still easily tell them apart

      • I agree. I hear people complain about they can’t tell who’s Megtron or make out what’s goind on, but it’s not difficult. I wear glasses (well, supposed to lol), and I can EASILY tell each character apart, and what’s going on with the action.

  15. Aside from him being put to better use than Devastator, I’d also love to hear in a movie theater a booming voice utter: “I AM OMEGA SUPREME!”

    • Ugh, I hated how they wasted Devastator in the film. If Omega Supreme is in the movie, then it better not get wasted. Although, I would imagine the plot centers on Omega, if true.

      • Which Devestator? There whee two of them. One the crappy twins took down and the other was climing the pyrimid.

        • There was only one Devestator in the movie. The Twins didn’t take down anything. There was two sets of Constucticons though.

          • of course its only one devastator. Did u see 2 transformer together in ROTF? #Slowness

  16. I agree with Duck comment, this artwork that is rumored to be Omega is indeed a Fake!… those are really Bumblebee’s legs if you magnify them…its just a fan made art that ran around with a good rumor..

  17. It is not omega supreme, it is vector sigma.. As you see in the trailer alpha trion is in the ship becasue he is the guardian of vector sigma..

  18. I think it’s the planet express ship.. It’s a Transformer, right?

  19. Hopefully they don’t follow Ghosts of Yesterday with this ’69 stuff…and for anyone who asks why its because the Ark has yet to reach earth because according to the book its near some other star system at this point in the timeline. And that would confuse me.

  20. That would be great time to take out the trash
