Wow, Michael Bay is a serious glutton for punishment. Barely a breath-catching minute after the slavish effort that “Boom-Boom” Bay and the f/x wizards over at Industrial Light and Magic put in to get Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen in theaters this past summer, they’re proposing to run that marathon all over again in order to get Transformers 3 in theaters for Summer 2011.

Bay made the official announcement today – and he even threw in a funny little stab at Megan Fox in response to all the you-know-what she’s been talking about him recently. Oh, and Transformers 2 haters listen up: apparently they have a “great story” this time around (do you believe it?).

Here’s the the official message Bay posted on his official forum:

Well its official: We have a great Transformers 3 story. The release date is now July 1st 2011. Not 2012.

Today is Day One. This morning started with an ILM meeting for five hours in San Francisco. Currently I’m flying with writer Ehren Kruger to Rhode Island to talk to Hasbro about new characters.

P.S. Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture. Please consult your Physician when working under my direction because some side effects can occur, such as mild dizziness, intense nausea, suicidal tendencies, depression, minor chest hair growth, random internal hemorrhaging and inability to sleep. As some directors may be hazardous to your health, please consult your Doctor to determine if this is right for you.

Pain and Gain is right after shooting of Trans 3.

Ehren Kruger helped out with the “script” for Transformers 2, he also wrote The Skeleton Key, The Brothers Grimm and Reindeer Games. An actual good movie he wrote (ZING!): Arlington Road.

To be honest, after seeing Revenge of the Fallen, I would be happy with Transformers 3 having A story, let alone alone a “great” one. Though, if Bay is thinking of bringing back The Twins, I don’t know how “great” the next film can possibly be.

The official release date of Transformers 3 (as stated) is July 1, 2011. Summer 2011 is quickly shaping up to be pretty epic.

  1. Who cares? More crap.

  2. Not enough time for them to make something good.

The first two were good for what they were, mindless action movies. But people caught on to how bad the story was on the 2nd Transformers. They need to get some seriously talented writers behind the new ones.

Looks like that’s not going to happen and they’re looking to make a quick buck.

Too bad, the franchise deserves a lot more.

  3. All I know that this movie is going to make a killing even though the last on was awful. And didn’t they say they had a great story last time? And look what happened.

  4. the first one was good. Second one was terrible. I have no idea how they are going to make up for the third one.

  5. Wow, nothing better than a big f-you to Megan. She had it coming.

Who wants to bet she’ll bail out of 3 for that comment alone?

  6. Sweet! Let’s bring on soundwave in all his glory!!!!!!!

  7. We don’t need Megan fox. Bring in someone else!

  8. Bay has ZERO incentive for changing ANYTHING in the Transformers formula. The last one made a ton of money and he got off and flipping the bird at critics.

I expect more of the same.

  9. love the first one, hate the second one… the third one well…..

  10. i was entertained.

however, if i were to critique….i would say the second one was too long but the main thing is that i really like the robot action but it moved way to fast to focus on anything. i would like to see some slow mo on the transformations. i think that’s the bread and butter of the franchise.
bring it! why not? better than another mcconahy romantic comedy…

  11. yeah its toy-porn with nooooo logic at all
u know its such shame that a movie this long and this boring sells this much
im glad i just paid 1 dollar for it

  12. 1 i liked but not too much
2 was AMAZING.. and it touched back to the old skool cartoon movie from my youth (thanks Mike! for making me realize im old)
3 if its better than 2 id really be amazed i dont think you can get better.

  13. I actually agree with what Vic said above and i’ll add thats one of the main reasons i love the second. It seemed like he did read the comments on what people disliked about the first one and he just tripled ( or quadrupled… Who’s counting ?)the amount of it in the second movie and it still made a buttload of money… To me from a business pov that was Genius!!!

I know i’ll probably get blasted for saying that but think when’s the last time you made something that you considered crap make nearly 900 mill?

  14. Yeah, Vic you pretty much summed it up. Micheal bay really doesn’t sound like a nice guy, as much as i enjoy his action he is a terrible director when it comes to actors. Also he pretty much just lost one of the biggest lures to his movie b ut i am soooo pleased by that because hopefully we will have more transformer eye candy rather then megan fox. Pleeeeeaaaassse michael bay, get your s*** together for this one.

  15. “We have a great Transformers 3 story.”

Michael, you don’t get to make statements like this until you can demonstrate you understand what that means.

  16. @that guy
“2 was AMAZING” did we watch the same film?

anyways, all michael bay really has to do is translate the 86 transformers cartoon movie into live action EXACTLY how it is… and they will redeem the franchise

alternatively he could vomit up another revenge of the fallen and make a ton of money.

I weep for the children growing up with this as their transformers source material

  17. Thanks for the warning,,, :-)

  18. The script just got leaked, see below:

“Robots blow s*** up and Megan Fox takes a shower”

Wow, count me in Mike, that sounds amazing!!!…

…ly like the last one. Do me a favour and get a 10 year-old to help you write your movies because even they could see how much your they blow.

Out of interest, who noticed the “new characters with Hasbro” entry in that quote? New characters? Like maybe Optimus Plot or GrimmActing?

  19. Another so soon probably means it will stink again and what will ultimately happen with this franchise? Reboot, just like all the other franchises out there. The first one was good, but the second one really had no point in it and just felt redundant. I mean why did they bring back Megatron? Shia also got brought back and Optimus and it all happened in one movie, sounds pretty ridiculous to me. I say eliminate what was bad about the 2nd with this one.
    1- Less action, more story
    2- Less Megan Fox
3- Less race to beat the clock type of moments
    4- Some deaths that stick

  20. I can’t wait to hear all of you that hated T2 so much complain about how much you hate T3. It’s really nonsense the personal vendetta you have against this franchise. If you like it, cool. If you don’t, then just stop whining. No one is forcing anyone to watch.

  21. Honestly, We should all be hoping that bay screws it up because then they’ll reboot it and bring in a new director like jj abrams, the wachowski brothers or James Cameron. Wishful thinking, I know.

  22. I think hasbro is getting tired of his ways anyway but they want one more huge payoff from it.

  23. If it’s a choice of the ‘Homey Twins’ or Megan Fox, I’ll take the twins.

I liked the 2nd better than the first as well. Which, now that I read what I typed is like saying I liked ‘Revolutions’ over ‘Reloaded’. Talk about a no win situation.

(Maybe he’ll have Keanu Reeves in Transformers 3)

  24. Wow you guys sure do like that Hater-ade when it comes to Transformers.

  25. Longshanks

abrams would hook it up and it’s probably a good idea to keep the wachowski bros away from the franchise. Can you imagine what Cameron could do with the transformers franchise?

  26. @Longshanks

If you just want to see stuff blow up just watch Mythbusters.

  27. The sad thing is that this series is in much need for improvement, and the only thing I can see improving in the third will be the special effects.

  28. no more sequels please they have gone far enough and parts 1 & 2 were boring enough dont make any more transformers movies
