I think you’re right about the FX shooting, Bay had written base script while the writers were on strike so they had something to work with when the strike ended. This means they know the general story, scenes and most especially the characters.

So its easily believeable that they are indeed getting a head start for the crazy special effects required for a rather quick release next summer.

Heath, I’m glad you’re covering this because despite the fact it made a gazillion dollars I couldn’t care less about “Transformers 2.”

“to live up to the promise by Bay that it will be even bigger than before”

Translation: “To live up to the promise by Bay that it will be even worse than before.”

Personally, I’m hoping that the novelty of the first one was the only reason it did so well, and that the second will be the biggest flop of Bay’s unfortunate career. Considering how big a departure the first movie was from what Transformers is, and especially from what I believe it could and should be, I can’t bring myself to feel anything but utter contempt for this second movie.

I will not be seeing it, and I beg all of the readers of this sight not to do so either.

Wow. I really like Transformers. I’m looking forward to the sequel. Sometimes I think some of you people are just TOOOOOOO damn picky. Transformers was a FUN movie.

“Transformers was a FUN movie.”

Not for me it wasn’t. For me, it was nothing short of torture. I’d rather just be waterboarded than watch that movie, or it’s sequel, again. The characters were unrecognizable, either in appearance or characterization, and that’s when they got any characterization. As such, I had nothing to draw me into the movie, nothing to make me care about any of the characters, and when one of them died, I had no reaction at all. The movie was all style and no substance, and the second promises to be more of the same.

As for being too picky, maybe so. Then again, I don’t just accept anything that’s thrown my way. I like my entertainment to have some substance to it, and I don’t like it to be dumbed down to the point where I have to be lobotomized to enjoy it.

To borrow a quote from a show that started out dealing with this very issue: “There’s always been a struggle between art and commerce, and now I’m telling you, art is getting it’s ass kicked.” This movie series is, to me, a perfect example of that. The thing that I find most painful is it’s supposed source material is easily one of my favorite series.

Guys Guys Guys I am a big fan of all transformer cartoons. Not sure what the whole big hate on the movie is.Transformers was not made about the people playing in it it was the transformers.People came to see the action, the transforming, and explosions nothing more just as the catoons went. Who cared about the people in the show it was great and i can guarantee the sequel will just about do as good as the first or better no doubt.

I don’t know what yall’s problem with Transformers is, because that movie freak’n rocked. To me it was proof that robot movies don’t have to suck. I loved it.
