transformers 2 the fallen face Five TV Spots & The New Poster For Transformers 2

The sequel to 2007’s smash hit, Transformers, is only a few weeks away and that means we’ll start seeing the juiciest marketing yet for the movie. Expect to see a lot of cool new things in the next few weeks to entice you to the theaters come June 24th where they are tracking a massive five-day opening.

On that note, we have five new TV spots for Revenge of the Fallen that show off a bunch of new scenes and finally give some of the other characters from the first movie some decent screen time – Most notably, our favorite Army boys from the first film.

Josh Duhamel is again playing the heroic bad-ass leader whom we saw almost single-handedly take down a pretty big Decepticon in the first movie (Although I think that robot, Blackout, is back for the sequel so he didn’t do that good of a job I suppose…).

Less talking, more watching – Here they are:

“Destiny”

“Fate”

“Forms”

“Mystery”

“Wanted”

Of the group of videos, the first three don’t give us much new stuff compared to the latter two, but the very first one at least showcases Linkin Park’s new solo song “New Divide” for the movie and it works well with the video so it’s still good. Just over two weeks ago, there was a new batch of TV Spots that were released along side new images and the LP single. Those Spots showed off some cool stuff as well including our first scene of the new Autobot, Sideswipe, in action and the Twins talking so check them out if you haven’t already.

The fifth one is the best in my opinion, having both the most new footage, but also the coolest intro and ending scene (I know, that’s saying a lot for a 30-second spot). I love the start where it shows the news report on TV of the aircraft carrier going down – It makes it feel much more genuine and epic, similar to Independence Day when the UFOs first arrived. The spot ends with Optimus Prime firing his gun at the camera which is an instant plus.

Speaking of Optimus and his gun, I wonder if he will use his weapons more in the sequel, seeing as he thought it best to not use them much in the first movie and instead get the beat down from Megatron. If that happens again, my vote goes to Ironhide to lead the group from now on…

In other news, a brand new poster for Transformers 2 was just released thanks to Empire and it’s not that impressive. It again only shows the two robots and the two actors they seem to overly display everywhere. I wished they’d show off a bunch of the other robots or at least some of the new characters – Anything different would be good, really.

Is it just me or does this look incredibly fake, almost unprofessional photoshopped? It just doesn’t fit right and it’s not of the same quality we’ve seen from the previous official posters.

The sound effects, music and visuals that are presented are insanely cool for this movie from everything seen so far and I’m psyched to see it opening weekend – I know I’m not the only one either as according to Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood, sources from rival studios are expecting a possible $175M grab for its 5-day opening. That period includes opening day, Wednesday, June 24 to the end of the weekend, Sunday, June 28. The comparison is to Spider-Man 2 which earned $152 in its 5-day Wednesday to Sunday opening back in 2004 around the same time in June.

What do you think of the spots and are you excited to see this?

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen hits theaters in just a few weeks on June 24, 2009.

  1. sweet – five spots on one page. as cheesy as the comedy is I still love seeing this stuff.

  2. @Rob
I don’t think optimus was shooting at the camera i think he was doing that same scene in terminator salvation where connor first appears… With his foot on the terminator and then shooting it. This case was optimus foot on a decepticon and shooting it… Do you think that bay may be sending a message to McG…?

  3. Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
    JUNE 24th..the War Continues..
    Can’t Wait.

  4. omg :D cant wait now

  5. I’m not liking the posters for this film… At all… I’m also worrying that it might be more of the same from the first one…

  6. @ Jago,

Yeap, I agree – I didn’t mean he was literally shooting towards the viewers, just that he was angled towards us :)

  7. website says it come out 26th
i think the poster is fake

  8. Man I love all of those scenes w/ Devastator.

  9. @rob
who’s us decepticon…?lol… i roll with the autobots.

  10. For the most part, I’ve had very little interest in Transformers II. I found the first movie a profound disappointment. The promos for the second movie haven’t done much to change my opinion. I will say that the latter two promos here are the first that give me some true curiosity. “Wanted” offers a more serious tone to the storyline. “Revenge” simply has some very cool music backing it.
