Transformers 2 Advance Tickets Go On Sale June 10th

IESB got emailed a a promo newsletter letting them (and subsequently all of us) know when the first tickets for Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen go on sale. And that date is June 10, 2009, a full two weeks before Revenge of The Fallen hits theaters on June 24, 2009.

Seems like Michael Bay and Paramount are anticipating a big box office rush; especially in the IMAX theaters. And after seeing that  Revenge of The Fallen teaser trailer, I’m thinking Bay and co. have every reason to be optimistic. IMAX theaters all over the country are going to be packed come June 24.

Here’s a snippet of the email talking about the advanced IMAX ticket sales for Revenge of The Fallen:

Filmed on location at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, and including several scenes shot with IMAX cameras, “Transformers Revenge of the Fallen” promises to be the most action-packed IMAX experience of the summer.

“Transformers Revenge of the Fallen” is scheduled to open Wednesday, June 24 at the Airbus IMAX Theater in Chantilly, VA. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, June 10.

Ok, so we know that Chantilly, VA will be getting Revenge of The Fallen tickets on June 10, and while I find it hard to believe that one location would start selling tickets before anywhere else, I won’t go so far as to confirm that tickets for Revenge of The Fallen will be on sale that same day at an IMAX theater near you.

Speaking of the IMAX: for those who don’t know, Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen has scenes that were actually filmed with IMAX cameras (a la The Dark Knight), meaning that the extra dollars you fork out for an IMAX ticket are actually going to be worth it this time around. Nothing like seeing Devastator in all his IMAX glory.

If you can remember as far back as last summer (or this past January) when The Dark Knight was in theaters, then you know just how spectacular those true IMAX sequences look on that gigantic screen. The thought of seeing my favorite giant robots of all time slug it out again (hopefully in wider-angled shots) makes me geek out just a bit.
