Piranha 3D The Hole and Buried trailers New Trailers: Piranha 3D, The Hole, and Buried

Recently, new trailers have appeared online for the horror remake Piranha 3D, the adventure-thriller The Hole in 3D, and the Ryan Reynolds thriller Buried.

In the interest of making life a bit easier on our readers, we’ve combined the new trailers into one mega-post of upcoming awesomeness! Check out each trailer, as well as our commentary, below:

Piranha 3D

This remake of of the 1978 film is exactly what you’d expect: a bunch of people are terrorized by killer piranhas… in 3D. You may be asking,“Why should I go and see this?” Well, apart from a cast of veteran actors like Richard Dreyfuss, Christopher Lloyd, Jerry O’Connell, and Ving Rhames (as well as Hostel director Eli Roth), the film, while ridiculous, should provide plenty of (campy) fun.

The Hole

Our second trailer is for the Joe Dante (Gremlins) directed adventure-thriller The Hole – also in 3D. The plot centers around “A pair of brothers [who] stumble upon a mysterious hole in their basement that leads to the darkest corridors of their fears and nightmares.”

The assertion that The Hole is a horror-thriller is a bit misleading since, as you’ll see from the trailer, it looks more like an adventure film with added thriller elements. The “horror” label doesn’t apply as far as I can see.

I wasn’t sure what to make of this film when I first heard about it, but I have to admit this trailer has me a bit more intrigued.

Buried

Last up we have a new teaser trailer for the upcoming Ryan Reynolds thriller, Buried – adding to the trailer and scene we posted a while back. The title does a good job of summing up the plot, but in case you want a few more details, here’s the official synopsis:

“Paul is a U.S. contractor working in Iraq. After an attack by a group of Iraqis he wakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it’s a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap.”

Take a look at the minimalist, but very effective, teaser trailer below, courtesy of Trailer Addict:

My immediate thought, when I first heard about Buried, was how could it possibly differ from Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill Vol. 2 (where Uma Thurman’s Bride was buried alive)? However, the film sparked a fierce bidding war at Sundance and the teaser is fantastic – providing us with the feel of the movie while still giving away as little as possible (exactly what a good movie trailer should do).

What do you think of the trailers for Piranha 3D, The Hole in 3D and Buried? What are you looking forward to most?

Piranha 3-D chomps its way into theaters on August 27th, 2010.

The Hole in 3D will be opened in theaters late summer/early fall 2010.

Buried gets dug-up on September 24th, 2010.

  1. I really hate this 3D thing going on. Even a dance film in 3D? Totally not digging it.

  2. Piranhas looks like fun. Not good, but fun.
    Was it shot in 3D?

And Buried is the best of the three, RR is officially Hollwood's go-to-guy.

  3. The Hole looks like great fun- it's good to have Joe Dante doing what he does best again.

  4. Was that Bruce Dern in the trailer for The Hole? Got to be a while since he was in anything good.

  5. You mean Ryan Reynolds?
