Well, this is a relief.
Pixar sure looks like they know how to do things the right way. Earlier this year, it was announced that the super-successful animation studio would be re-releasing the first two Toy Story films leading up to the opening of their new Toy Story 3. Better yet, all three would be released in 3D.
Now comes confirmation that the first two installments will be left unchanged (other than the 3D formatting of course). This means we’re at no risk of suffering again through what George Lucas did to the original Star Wars trilogy for the special edition re-releases.

Toy Story 1 & 2 were both perfect films for all audiences and both sit with 100% fresh ratings on RottenTomatoes.com. It would suck to not be treated to what made the films so good in the first place, so it’s a wise decision on Pixar’s part to leave these works of art unscathed.
That being said, if they were to make edits and additions to the films, I’m sure it wouldn’t be nearly as problematic as what Mr. Lucas did with the Star Wars Saga.
Pixar has an insanely-good track record with their films and has plenty to live up to with Toy Story 3. Toy Story 2 came out back in 1999 so here’s hoping the 11-year wait being worth it.
Toy Story in 3D is due out October 2, 2009, Toy Story 2 in 3D is due out February 12, 2010 and the newest installment: Toy Story 3 (also in 3D) is due out June 18, 2010.

I thought that Toy Story I & II were two of my favorites of all time.. It’s great to be getting the chance to see Buzz & Woody on the big screen again in 3D !!
Looking forward to this..
Proud to say I’ve never seen the Toy Story films.
I just don’t get the excitment in watching a kids movie, and I absolutly will not see any film in 3D,,,
“The Boys are Back in town”
Very clever,,,
Makes me wanna see 48 hrs again…
790, Toy Story 1 and 2 are all-audience movies kinda like Shrek was.
You must see it!
BTW, have you read Watchmen yet?
I really really loved Toy Story win right up there with top animations of all time, but number 2 was very lack luster in my opinion and not worthy of the praise that it seems to get here. It didn’t really compare to the first one. It took me three tries before I finally was able to hold my interest long enough to sit through the entire film. Then when I watched them both again as an adult the first one still is held with very high regard for me. It was brilliant and the second one is still just not all that good. I hope the third one can be an improvement.
Sorry Rob I can’t sit through any of the Shrek Incredibles , Toy Story, Pixar films.
They do absolutly nothing for me, and I don’t care for the fancy cgi and A list voice over talent.
Its like movie cotton candy, and I don’t eat cotton candy anymore.
^
I’m gonna wait for the Watchman movie.
I’ve looked thru the book and from what I’ve seen, I think I want to see it on the screen…
Now a days, movies are better visually then comics…
Btw I saw a new documentary dvd today in the stores about the author of Watchman. The guy looks like a homeless bum,,,
Or what Cartman would call a hippe!
Wait…how did Watchmen come into this?
Eh…never mind.
Anyhoo, I’ll be looking forward to seeing these — I’ve seen every Pixar film since Toy Story first hit the cinemas back in ‘95 and I don’t intend on missing these.
It’s not often that I will watch a movie simply thanks to the company behind it, Pixar changed all that for me
They really show how movies should be made: with care, obsessive attention to detail and a flawless understanding of how to put a good story on the big screen. For example, ‘Wall-E’ just blew me away upon its release — definitely one of my high-points in cinema-going this year. With the exception of ‘Cars,’ Pixar hasn’t disappointed me yet.
Keep ‘em coming guys!
The Toy Story movies are awesome and truly an inspiration. How inspirational are they? Enough so that there is now a Toy Story religion.
I kid you not. There is a religion called Universal Protectionism that has been based on aspects of Buzz Lightyear’s character. Don’t believe it? See it for yourself at http://www.geocities.com/universalprotectionism
I think for the most part Pixar is brilliant though I thought Wall-E was trash and they had a few other less than stellar movies, but Wall-E was the only one I hated..
I’ve always been a HUGE Pixar supporter, but for me Wall-E was the first bump in the road. I just didn’t like that they went away from their usual family/friends message and branched out into the whole climate change debate.
I also didn’t like the mix of live action and CGI – it didn’t make sense in the way they employed it.
Other than that, big fan and looking forward to what they do with John Carter of Mars.

Agreed. I was very disappointed with Wall-E. The beginning of it was cool and it looked amazing then it went down hill from there…or fell right off the cliff.
I really didn’t enjoy that overall.
