Fans of mockumentary provocateur Andy Samberg will likely be excited to watch the first trailer for his latest original HBO feature, Tour de Pharmacy. Co-created by the former Saturday Night Live player and current Brooklyn Nine-Nine star, the upcoming comedy film is primed to set its satirical sights on the world of professional sports doping - namely in the form of performance enhancing steroids.

Directed by Jake Szymanski and written by Murray Miller - the same team that produced the like-minded Andy Samberg HBO sports mockumentary 7 Days in Hell from 2015 - Tour de Pharmacy shifts its focus from professional tennis players to the world of professional cyclists. Borrowing its title from the infamous French bicycle race that is the Tour de France, Szymanski and Miller are primed to offer Samberg fans another whacky take on a popular spectator sport.

In the footage featured above, potential viewers of the latest sports mockumentary starring Samberg can feast their eyes on all of the ill-advised behavior and uproariously competitive antics soon to be featured front and center in the motion picture proper. Bolstered by a supporting cast that includes small screen turns from the likes of John Cena, Daveed Diggs, Orlando Bloom, and Freddie Highmore, Tour de Pharmacy is sure to turn more than a few heads when it debuts on HBO later next month.

Tour de Pharmacy Sports Mockumentary Trailer

Samberg has long been a wildly inventive comic performer, and as such his latest turn in Tour de Pharmacy should provide for another wildly original mockumentary that looks to be operating along the same thematic lines as Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping from last year. In due time, HBO viewers can decide for themselves whether or not the writer and director duo of Miller and Szymanski is another worthwhile sports mockumentary endeavor.

With any luck, Tour de Pharmacy will prove to be an original HBO production fit to please viewers who enjoyed Samberg's last outing for the network in 7 Days in Hell. And after spending several years as a featured player on Saturday Night Live, the comedy performer definitely knows his way around a major property by now, and as such he should be able to win over viewers in his latest role. On that note, here's to hoping for the very best from Miller, Szymanski, Samberg, and company as the debut of their new movie looms ever nearer.
