  1. I’d have to add “An American Carol” in your list. It does an excellent job of parodying Michael Moore and A Christmas Carol. I believe it is also made by the creator(s) of Airplane.

    • It also stars Kevin Farley, the brother of the late great Chris Farley, who reminds me so much of him. If you lean conservative, the film is a riot, because it pokes fun as so much of the liberal mentality.

  2. How on EARTH did you miss Hot Shots and its sequel ???? Come on !!!!

    • “Holy cow! My hat blew off! Swing around. We’ll pick it up.” :D

      • Whoops! It was “cap,” not “hat.” Sorry, Admiral Benson!

  3. Just because top secret is old doesnt mean its obscure. Shame on you :)

    • I have never heard of it but i am now going to find it.

  4. Youve got to love Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, can’t wait for The Worlds End to finish of the trilogy!

I think I’ve seen most of those movies on the list, love Monty python and The Naked Gun films, they are timeless

  5. Zombieland should have been on this list…if it’s considered a parody..

    • I agree… it is if Shaun of the Dead is.

  6. Would Disney own Spaceballs now? They should make another Spaceballs.

  7. i would out scary movie 2 on that list… i think its brilliant!

  8. I like Hot Fuzz more.

  9. I see Hot Shots 1 & 2 as THE parody films for a generation. Hard to believe not even one of them is on this list.

  10. “Blazing Saddles” will always be not only top 10 parody, but top 10 movies of all time for me

    also some notable mentions:
    Johnny English
    Kung Fu Hustle
    Hebrew Hammer
    Robin Hood: Men in Tights

And how could you forget: “This is Spinal Tap”

    • *sings* We’re meeeen, We’re men in tights, TIGHT tights!

That movie never fails to have me rolling on the floor laughing. But I will forever love Young Frankenstein. For all it was pervy my father watched the rented from the library copy with me over and over laughing more each time.

      • ooooh!! kung fu hustle is incredible!! Hopefully they just forgot it cuz that one would be near the top for me.. shaolin soccer as well.

  11. THANK TO THE DEVIL THAT YOU DONT PUT ANY WAYANS CRAPPY FILMS IN THAT LIST!!!

    • Im Gonna Git you Sucka

Was the only one that was pure funny.

  12. You also forgot “Spy Hard”. Come on now…

  13. Actually, it was DARK Helmet, not Darth Helmet…

  14. How could you forget Wrongfully Accused?!? That is one of my favorite parody films! It deserves at least an honorable mention and should be on there instead of scary movie!!! otherwise pretty good list.

  15. How can you forget I’m Gonna Get You Sucka. I would rather have that movie up there then Shaun of the Dead. What about Robert Townsends movie Hollywood Shuffle. Have you seen Black Dynamite

    • Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood is right up there with any movie on this list.

  16. When the train chases him in wrongfully accused I can’t even handle it

  17. Nice list! Airplane! is my favorite. :)

  18. what about Men in Tights???

    • Terrible movie and definitely not worthy to be in a Top 10.

      • Lies! That movie is hilarious.

  19. It’s kind of a different sort of film, but “Enchanted” parodies the fairy-tale genre. Also, “The Princess Bride.”

  20. How’d they miss “Blazing Saddles”?

  21. Shaun of the Dead isnt a parody. Neither is Galaxy Quest. You should of put Blazzing Saddles on the list for sure. Glad Top Secret! is on the list. It is second to Blazzing Saddles. A mention should go to the Thumbs franchise. They have done some great parodies.

    • galaxy quest is totally a parody dude, if you can watch it and a star trek episode back to back and tell me with a straight face that there is no resemblance then I’ll believe you. but until then, its a star trek parody. and shaun of the dead is obviously poking fun at the zombie genre dude, thats part of what makes it awesome.

      • “Should OF”… really? You should HAVE paid better attention in the 3rd grade.

  22. Whats the difference between a parody and a spoof?

    • They are spelled differently…

      • Really? Kahless didn’t notice.

        :-D

  23. Fans of Kung Fu movies should also consider “Kung Pow; Enter the fist” A true parody.

  24. Well I’m glad Holy Grail is on the list even though it’s not really a parody or a spoof of anything, just the Python team wanting to make a second movie that wasn’t just old Flying Circus sketches rewritten and filmed again in the feature length format.

Spaceballs….saw it once, didn’t find it very funny at all.

I’d have added Anchorman as a riff on the 70s sexism of the male dominated news broadcasting world or found room for Hot Fuzz to be put on the list as well as Shaun Of The Dead.

Hot Shots and Hot Shots Part Deux should’ve been on here too.

I’d also say Tropic Thunder too if you consider that a parody/spoof movie.

    • I disagree. The Holy Grail is a parody of the King Arthur tale.

      • No doubt. That’s actually painfully obvious.

  25. Where’s Not Another Teen Movie? Am I the only one wishing it’d be on here? Okay, I’ll go away now…

    • No, no you are not. I hadnt thought of it til i read your comment but i remember i was surprised at how funny that movie actually was.

  26. Scary Movie 2 was the best.

  27. Funniest movie for me is blazing saddles. I can watch that movie all day. That’s a movie that I doubt could be made today.

  28. Top Secret is a great movie…I remember my father and I laughing our a$$es off watching on VHS back in the day.

  29. I guess Life of Brian was too controversial for the list? Definately a great one as well.

    • Before I had ever seen a Monty Python film, my friends told me to only see Holy Grail, because of my Christian faith; they told me to stay far away from Life of Brian.
