Not to be nitpicky, but I think the cool logo made for the article is missing a "c" in Screen Rant.

And for some reason, I find that quite amusing, Sreen Rant. =P
  • GAH!

    ROOOOBBBBB!!!!

I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned (may be something technical disqualified it) but I am looking forward to Astroboy. Anyone else?
  • Rob
    whoops, heh.

Spent half the day working on this and the thing I rush at the end, I misspell :(

New one is made - I'll e-mail it to you Vic
  • You know, after seeing the most recent Monsters vs. Aliens trailer, the humor seems almost... similar to other animated movies. I get edgy, but it just seems cliche now.

If I could, I'd swap out MvA for Trek! That last trailer was great!

I am def psyched for Astro Boy. The Soloist and The Road, I apologize for neglecting you boys from the list.
  • S.Matt
Does anyone know any details about Scott Pilgrim? I absolutely love the comics, but all I've heard about the movie is that Michael Cera is Scott.
  • I am really looking forward to 9.

    9: Transformers

"Can Michael Bay turn some of those frowns upside down with this sequel that he co-wrote?"

If he pulls that off, I guarantee I won't be one of them. That first insult was one and only chance he had with me.

    "Will there be more robots,"

    Yes.

    "less people,"

    Probably not.

    "better story,"

(FlameStrike begins laughing hysterically at the thought.)

    "less corniness"

    (FlameStrike laughs even harder.)

    "and better characters?"

(FlameStrike laughs so hard he falls out of his chair, hits his head and passes out.)

"We hope so and some of us are looking forward to finding out from this action-adventure."

    Abandon hope.
  • Marshall
Where the Wild Things Are. Been waiting for this since it was announced. However it may be more correctly included in 2010 releases, if ever.
  • Rob
    lol flamestrike.

What movies do you look forward to next year - share your list
  • blipvert
Wow, I was shocked to see 'Assassination of a High School President' on Carl Lees list. I'm also anticipating this. Reece Thompson is starting to come around as a amusing screen actor and I really enjoyed 'Rocket Science' Now you can also call me extremely biased as he is a close friend to the family and I have to hang out with the little twerp tomorrow for new years day, lol.

I didn't see this on anybodies list. Tim Burtons produced new animated '9' looks like it will be a lot of fun.

    Happy New Years All!

"What movies do you look forward to next year"

I'm having a hard time finding any that sound like they'll be any good. I suspect I'll probably find the ones that interest me among the smaller productions that we haven't heard about yet.
  • @FlameStrike

Hey bro, this is an honest question I'm curious about so don't read it the wrong way: Considering the Sci-Fi/Superhero/Blockbuster focus of Screen Rant, why do you read us? I'm sure there are other more esoteric movie sites out there that cover the sort of films you're referring to.

    Sincerely,

    Vic

Some great posts up there. The movies I am looking forward to in 2009 are :

    WATCHMEN WATCHMEN WATCHMEN
    The International
    Push
    Public ENemies
    The Surrogates
    A Christmas Carol
    Year One
    Monsters Vs Aliens
    Up
    Wolverine
    Star Trek XI
    Terminator:Salvation
    Drag Me To Hell
    Transformers:ROTF
    Ice Age 3
    Taking of Pelham 123

Looks like it's going to be a good year
  • FlameStrike
Because I'm a lifelong Science Fiction fan.

Many of the movies this site covered for 2008 were good, and I enjoyed them. Next year just doesn't look very good, though my hatred for a couple of the movies out next year, and the people making them, may be coloring my perception of some of the others. I'll see when the advertising starts for some of them.
  • KEL
Watchmen and Star Trek. I could give a damn if I see anything else. In regards to Wolverine, I feel like I've seen 3 Wolverine movies already so I'm not THAT psyched about it.
  • greenknight333
    @ 790

Have you any interest in seeing The International? It seems to be up our alley with the global/corporate/world bank plan to rule the world...

    WUU-HA-HA-HA!!

Cut off one head they grow three back..
  • @Flamestrike

Thanks for answering. As I've said before, I'm cautiously optimistic about Star Trek despite my being a fan for 30+ years and I really think that Watchmen is going to be freaking awesome.

James Cameron, although being an egotisical jerk, DOES know how to make fantastic films so I'm looking forward to Avatar. And I'm willing to give McG a chance a Terminator.

    Vic
  • FlameStrike
As I've said before, anything written by Orci and Kurtzman, directed by Michael Bay, or produced by Don Murphy or Spielberg isn't worth my time or money. This, therefore, has me writing off Star Trek and Bayformers 2

Watchmen is a comic I know nothing about. This movie was the first I've ever heard of it, so there's nothing there to get me excited about it. The legal screw-ups of the producers also leave me doubtful of it actually being released, so I don't see any reason to get my hopes up about it.

As for Terminator, I was highly disappointed in the first one when I rented it earlier this year and I don't give any series of movies more than one chance. Terminator blew it for me for some of the same reasons Bayformers did: it struck me as all spectacle and no story.

As for Avatar, I have to wait until I know something about a movie before I have any reason to get excited about it. I know nothing about this one about this one and I'm going to hold off until I know more before making any decisions about it.

The other on the list either just don't interest me or I haven't heard of them until now, so 2009 just doesn't look like a good year, to me, for movies. Maybe that will change with time, though.
  • Gary
Looking forward to Star Trek and Watchmen.
    Curius about Terminator:Salvation.
And postively dreading Wolverine with crossed fingers because of the dismal track record of Fox.
