It’s official: Jason Statham is returning to work on a sequel to the ultra-high-energy romp Crank, however this time instead of needing to keep his heart pumping at a high rate, his heart will require recharging by electricity. If you’re not familiar with the story of Tony Stark (aka Iron Man), in the comics he wore a chestplate that required period recharging to keep him alive as well.

So I’m kidding about the Tony Stark thing… but that was the first thought that popped into my head when I read the description for Crank 2: High Voltage in which Statham’s character:
“…faces a Chinese mobster who has stolen his nearly indestructible heart and replaced it with a battery-powered ticker that requires regular jolts of electricity to keep working.”
That’s outrageous enough to fit right in with the first film. So they replace his heart… what do they do with his actual heart while he has the fake one in his chest? Keep it on ice? I suppose this will add to the adrenaline pace of the movie by requiring him to complete whatever task in a very limited amount of time in addition to always being on the lookout for a recharge of electricity.
If it’s anything like the first one it’ll be a wild ride with no pretensions of being “high art,” but it will be a lot of fun.
There’s no target release date set yet for Crank 2: High Voltage.

H-How?
He smashed into a car from like… 10,000 feet in the air. He hit terminal velocity, and then a vehicle.
From the sky.
Really Fast.
The Car… exploded-like.
I don’t know. But man, a sequel sounds awesome.
Alex,
Holy COW! I had completely forgotten that the character died at the end of the first movie. Great point… it seems the man is truly indestructible.
Vic
I’m wondering if Jason Statham character was dreaming when that happen?
… Forgot to add was really entertain by the first one hope this new Crank is as fun.
I may have to rent the first one to refresh my memory on that ending, but it seemed pretty definitive.
Vic
I thought that the first film was awsome. A real popcorn throwing movie, but how do you bring a guy back that feel out of the sky, hits a car, bounces back up into the air like 60 feet and then smashes into the concreat to top it off? I’m with Alix…..I can’t freaken what to see it!!!!! See you at the theater boyz.
hey Vic,
any more updates on this movie any tive soon?
i been check’in other sites and screen rant is usually the most recourseful.

He didn’t die. Since his addrenaline was really high up, it increases the badys power, stamina, and all that, plus even though he got injectd again, the fall was enough to push that poison stuff out.
Ok why are they making a sequel. And sorry a fall from that far from a chopper adrenaline, PCP, crack or otherwise WILL KILL ANYONE. HE WAS DEAD. HE IS NOT KONG. Also the poison was through out his entire body so all his blood would need to be pushed out hence he would still be dead. Is there anywhere that has some plot details?
Also it seems as if they are trying to copy off of DRIVE, a low budget but good flick with Mark Dacascos and Kadeem Hardison with the whole super powered heart bit.
crank its very nice. Ilike this movie because the action is only present on this movie and know maybe to a comparate with any movie crank is the best of movie. Its not longely movie but is very interessing.your correspondant ti-jay
now even though i have no idea how someone could survive a fall from a helicopter that was like many thousand feet in the air onto a car..i still think a sequel would be awesome! the first movie was pretty good. alot of fun. although brian has a good point..even though that seems a lil impossible it also seems like it COULD be possible considering crank is a movie and not real life. oh well anyways hope crank 2 is good hopefully better than the first even though the first was still really good
actually…he didnt die at the end of #1…although its hard to live from a fall like that…if you look closely…you can hear his heart beating & you see him blink his eyes…then a black screen…pretty freakin awsome movie if i do say so myself
although a sequel sounds awesome
i WAS havin trouble believing that he’d survived the fall.
but like konnor said
his heart still beats and he blinks and i also noticed his fingers move a lil bit.
and brian sort of has a point. i disagree that all the poison was pushed out but yea you’re right the adrenaline makes his body stronger.
well anyways a sequel sound kick ass. the first movie was fun and very entertaining
Who cares, it’s fiction and a kick-A$$ movie. Does anybody really think that Jason just couldn’t die, or that bad guy’s are such crapy shot’s that no matter how many bullets they send twards Batman they want be able to hit him, “NO”. It’s a popcorn action flick not an Oscar contender.
like i said a sequel still sounds awesome. i wasnt tryin 2 say the movie might not be as good cuz of how real it is.
you have a good point though bryce people shouldnt worry about how fake or real the movie is
Sorry I wasn’t trying to come down on you, but there are some way over the top
thoughts about this film in this thread. Like a comic book they can always change the rules. I wasn’t so much commenting on you as much as some of the others who think this a reality show.
@Bryce
Even comic book superhero movies have to make SOME kind of sense. BTW, I’ve seen the trailer for the sequel, and while I thought the first film was a lot of fun, I wouldn’t touch this second one with a ten foot pole.
Vic
Vic, where do I find a trailer? And to your comment on comics making sense I agree, but science is their angle on this. As weak as it may be they’ll find a way to explain it. Just like in all the space movies where they have gravity in the ship, or oxygen on other planets.
Never mind I found it and it looks crazy fun to me. Not a lot of thought process just sit back and watch the train wreck!

Everyone is raving about it like it’s “totally gnarly awesome, dude!” but I just find it disgusting and about as low as the gutter.
But hey, that’s just me.
Vic
omg i just saw the trailer on the link that vic put up…im friken speechless!!!….that movie looks so awsome!!! i mean theirs everything u could want in a guy movie! theres comedy theres swearing theres sex theres killing theres shooting!!!…but if ur under 18…good luck convincing ur parents…lol…
Didn’t care much for the first one, and I was hoping that it was over when he DIED at the end. After seeing the trailer though it looks bearable, and the main plot more realistic, aside from him latching on to the power transformers…. anyway i will watch this because it looks better than the first, how much better is unsure. Maybe it will be end up being a Transporter 2 (meaning better than the first and setting the bar for the franchise).
Wow,
This movie was crap. It was about 2% better than the first one, and unfortunately it looks like they will be making a part 3. Now before the haters and redbull groupies attack this, first know I didn’t expect much or a masterpiece of cinematic genius. Secondly why have a story that seems to have some direction ultimately go nowhere. Did some one piss of the directors that much that Jason Statham had to turn around at the end and give the finger to the camera/who ever was intended. This is probably one of the few if not only movie(s) that are based on video games without actually being based on a video. Fromt he opening intro it appears that the directors love video games, and equate the first film as being a video game. From the GTA style city and destination grid, to countless scenarios from first person shooter games, its obvious these guys are pushing for Crank the video game. View at your own risk, or if u think that every thing action based is so awesome.
@SIN
I. unfortunately, saw this. This movie bordered on NC-17. Some of the action sequences were pretty good but they were overshadowed by the awefullness.
@ Kahless
I feel your pain.
