A Mad Max Movie, without Mel Gibson, is like a Jaws movie without a shark.
    What a joke.

Please, don't do this. It's not that there's anything wropng with the guy. It's jsut that it'd be so much more kick ass to see a older kick ass Mel still moppin up the last of the bad guys, or to see what the character is doing, say, 12 years after Thunderdome.

WHat ever happened to Max? I don't want to see it RE-BOOTED.
I want to see the story evolve, and to know what happened to the character. Mel can still kick ass. FOr heaven sakes, do somthing for art and story, and not money. The heck with the old man opbsession with keeping up with the "new generation."

It is obvious from any website you visit with news of a new mad max movie, that Mel Gibson has to reprise his role. The fans overwhelmingly want this. This movie will bomb without him. Please listen to the cult following of this franchise.

I just hope that he(Tom Hardy) does a better jobin this movie than he did in Star Trek Nemisis, he was just awfull but it was a bad movie from the get go.

Robyn2, wasn't "2 Days in the Valley" a classic?! Bit of trivia: the house that Jeff Daniels lived in (golf balls all over his lawn) was actually the same house/production office where the cult classic tv show Nowhereman was produced...

    Anyway,,,,,,
Besides the first film did Max ever tell anyone his name in the films? If I recall he never did. He was always called the raggedyman, stranger or capt Walker.

I'm open to this as long as the writings good I think Hardy can pull it off... I don't think Theron hurts the film...

But yeah if I ruled the universe Mel would be reprising the role! I would give him back his youth, until we wrapped and then its back to the freaky bearded muslim look... ;-)

I think Tom Hardy is a good choice. At least he can act (look at a few of his movies, the difference between Bronson and Star Trek Nemesis for instance is huge). It never hurts to have Theron in a movie either ;)

OT - My 2p = RocknRolla was better than Revolver but so is eating Rat Poison, not as good as Lock... or Snatch. Hoping Holmes is class.

Charlize, yes - she can kick butt, I saw her 1st movie "2 days in the Valley" (low budget with James Spader). And she is gorgeous and can act too!
Tom Hardy? Oh, boy - the dude is ugly! Looks nothing like Mel,does not have that element of danger Mel had in "The Road Warrior". I hated "Thunderdome" - BOOORING as hell!

They should get a NEW script, continue from "The Road Warrior" (forget Thunderdome disaster) and bring Mel back - older, wiser, mentoring a young, new Max (maybe his son).
Then I would go see it! Otherwise this movie will BOMB!

Perhaps they will end the series with another movie with Mel a few years down the road so to speak.

i am just glad it's not going to be animation! too bad mel can't play in it but he's getting to old anyway, but it still worked for indiana jones. but i'll definitely get into this film.

Tom Hardy has the look but looks aren't everything. I don't know if anyone is going to have that raw edge that Mel had in Road Warrior.

    @Sam

No offense mate, but RocknRolla sucked and Lock Stock was only marginally better (still a waste of time IMO). Whereas Snatch was excellent the others were only were wannabes.
  • Kantstandya
yea this is gonna be a flop mel in it would gaurantee success, an older meaner max would be awsome i mean he still looks good and just right for this part mel deserves a comeback no one can even come close to his acting skills in my opinion.
  • hudson
im not familair with tom hardy but he looks like a fit(or as close as posible because no one can fill the shoes no one)
  • Why cant they just continue the story let say "MADMAX" 100 yrs after..Lol!
  • Sam
first off I just wanna say that RocknRolla rocks!!! It's going to have a crazy following like Ritche's other stuff (Lock Stock & Snatch). Everyone needs to see that movie. Second I'm a fan of the original Mad Max but I'm down for a reprise of the role. I'm excited to see Theron in the pic too. Let's just say she's a visual and an acting upgrade on tina. Final answer... I'm excited to see how this turns out

No Mel Gibson = no interest from me.

A new Mad Max with an older and even more mean Mel Gibson would have been awesome. Having someone else playing the role simply won't make it for me.
