With Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince officially opening today and breaking a record for midnight ticket sales last night (this morning), the stars of the epically successful franchise are everywhere in the media.

One of those stars is Tom Felton who plays Harry Potter’s rival, Draco Malfoy. Possibly adding to his success and popularity, he’s also one of the buzzed about candidates to play the character of Riley in the third Twilight flick, Eclipse.

Back in April, Screen Rant reported on Channing Tatum being a potential for the role Riley. That came from an interview with Melissa Rosenberg, screenwriter in charge of adapting Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight novels to the big screen, where she said Channing could do the part “beautifully.”

There was some feedback to that news which commented on Tatum being a little too old and big for the role for some fans, so how about Tom Felton instead? Felton’s being asked this question frequently during his many interviews and he had this to say in response:

“Ill be ready when they want me! Really, I’m only joking. Im not really sure at this point; but you will be the first to know if I find out anything!”

He repeated the same on this Twitter account so it seems that he’s definitely a possible choice for the role. If he does join the cast of Eclipse, he’ll be the second Harry Potter actor to join Robert Pattinson, participating in both franchises with Jamie Campbell Bower having been cast into New Moon as Caius, one of the Volturi vampire leaders and as Gellert Grindelwald in the two-parter Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. That makes three to the growing roster.

With Half-Blood Prince easily being one of the top films of this year and having already had a strong opening with the weekend still to come, and with its great reception among critics and fans everywhere, it makes sense to add Felton to the cast and bridge the franchise fanbases together even more.

Personally, I will love it if Summit casts him. But only if it doesnt get in the way of him playing Draco Malfoy in the last Harry Potter movie. Either way he's still a great actor.

But would this change him? nah...probably help his career. haha I can just picture it: I am in the theatres with my friends, and while they go gaga over Taylor Lautner (He is hot too!)...yeah haha. holy crap i absolutely love tom felton in harry potter but i think he would do awesome in twilight even though i personally don't like the series but if he was i would love it a lot! i hated the part in harry potter 6 where harry the dumb bot potter almost kills Draco!!!! so very sad but he lived :)

I have to agree with everyone here. Tom Felton has grew quite into a handsome young man. Plus he's a great actor. I would say that with quite some force after watching his performance in HBP. I hope he gets the part in Eclipse. I think it would be great to see him play a tortured vamp.

Tom needs to be casted like immediately. Why hasn't this been confirmed yet? I hope SUMMIT hasn't already picked someone else as Riley. I'd say SUMMIT made an excellent choice in choosing the Voultrie and the werewolf pack cast for New Moon. Hope they do the same for Eclipse
