Will Tom Cruise Join Beyoncé In ‘A Star Is Born’?

Tom Cruise is the latest in a long list of names to be associated with a starring role opposite Beyoncé Knowles in Clint Eastwood’s A Star Is Born. If the Mission: Impossible star decides to take the role it could mean yet another delay for the film, which has been in development for several years.

A Star Is Born was last delayed due to Beyoncé’s pregnancy, but she is now ready to start shooting this coming June; however, Cruise has a packed schedule. He’s currently filming director Joseph Kosinski’s Oblivion, and then he’s set to segue into All You Need Is Kill (We Are Mortals) for Bourne Identity director Doug Liman, so an early summer shoot is unlikely (Mission: Impossible 5 is also in the pipeline). There is a possibility that A Star Is Born could be pushed back further to accommodate Cruise’s newfound heat. Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol has banked over $208 million domestically and it’s moving towards $700 million worldwide, making it Cruise’s biggest global hit to date.

A Star Is Born is another remake of the tale which follows the romance between two performers, one whose career is on the ascent (Beyoncé), while the others star is fading. Over the last few years, a multitude of names have been attached to the lead male role, with Will Smith, Christian Bale, Eminem, Russell Crowe and Robert Downey Jr. all having been mentioned.

Cruise’s addition to the cast of A Star is Born is pure speculation at this point, as schedules, salaries and contracts all need to be figured out. But if he does take the part, it could nab him that elusive Oscar.

Cruise well next be seen in the musical Rock of Ages, where he gets to flex his vocal cords as rocker Stacee Jaxx.

  1. I love Eastwood, but how many times are they going to make the same movie? Probably feeling negative about this because I don’t like Cruise as an actor.

  2. Cruise is one of the best and most entertaining actors. As a long time fan , I’ll watch this movie if he agrees to it but I really don’t think Beyonce is an actress. He also may not have time for this movie in his busy schedule either

@Jamie, I suspect you haven’t seen his performance in Magnolia, Collateral, Born on the Fourth of July and so on. I think it’s nearly impossible to not like him as an actor, one simply has to glance at his incredible filmography.

    • I’ve seen his earlier movies and loved Magnolia and Born On the Fourth of July. For the past decade, he just seems to be phoning it in and resting on his laurels … Tom Cruise playing Tom Cruise.

      • It’s always been Tom Cruise playing Tom Cruise. Sometimes that works. Others, not so much.

        • What the….?

    • It is well known that everytime Beyonce hits the stage, she is “Excellence” as an actor! As with so many beautiful actresses, Beauty, an Excellent Producer and some Intelligence can sometimes get you an Oscar!!

  3. They should get Rick Ross.

    • now that’s an idea!!!

  4. Personally, I always felt – apart from his off-screen antics – he is a very gifted actor that always manages to hold tension and draws you into the scene. I’d be looking forward to this.
