Michelangelo, the silliest member of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, doesn’t have the edge that Raphael has or the highly disciplined mind of Leonardo. A key problem Michelangelo faces as a Ninja Turtle is his failure to put in the required effort for training. This wasn’t an issue for him at first, but it was added to his character in the late 1980s Ninja Turtles comics and was also implemented in most of his animated and live-action portrayals. In these stories, Michelangelo is depicted as a character who lacks the commitment needed for him to excel in ninjitsu as well as he could.
