A couple of months ago, Screen Rant talked about 20th Century Fox hiring Kyle Ward to write the script for Hitman 2 – the sequel to their 2007 action film Hitman. Now Coming Soon had a chance to sit down with Agent 47 himself, Timothy Olyphant, during a junket for his upcoming movie A Perfect Getaway. When asked if he was signed on to do future Hitman movies, Olyphant responded:
“It’s not on my schedule. If they want me to do another one, I supposed they could have me, yes. What I can tell you about ‘Hitman’ is that I’m thrilled that it was as successful as it was and it was a really nice opportunity and I appreciate that opportunity.”
I would hope that 20th Century can get Olyphant on contract to play Agent 47 again. He is by no means irreplaceable but I like to see some continuity in term of actors playing characters. When studios start replacing guys in the lead role I get nervous. I like Edward Norton but using him to replace Eric Bana in The Incredible Hulk was iffy in my book at first – although ultimately it turned out to be a fantastic move for the film and the franchise.

There could always be the possibility that Olyphant is too busy to star in another Hitman. With A Perfect Getaway releasing next week and a starring role in the George Romero remake The Crazies, it’s quite possible he could bow out due to scheduling conflicts.
If the studio decides not to go with Olyphant, what other actor would be bald enough to hold Agent 47′s pistols? Jason Statham perhaps?
Do you want Timothy Olyphant to come back as Agent 47 or is there someone else you would prefer to see?
There is currently no release date for Hitman 2.

I didn’t think Olyphant was bad in the film, actually I thought he was the only good thing about it, but thats not saying much.
I came out of Hitman having no idea of what had just happened in that movie. The story was so convoluted. Seriously, if they’d stuck with the original clone storyline, it likely would have been much better.
Still don’t get all that business with the swords.
Olyphantastic
No brainer, Olyphant
I’d love to see Olyphant back as Agent 47, I thought Hitman was a really good action movie.
I’m acually a big fan of mr olyphant & personally I think he’s better than this.
I loved Timothy Olyphant in this role. My son, who played the game said that if he’d never played the game before, he would have thought it was a good movie. It seems that gamers emphatically wanted Jason Statham and were seriously disappointed when they went with TO. I understand why, it would have been a natural given his looks and his martial arts skills. I’d be happy if they went with JS but I’d prefer they stick with TO. I thought he did a great job and physically was a good fit for the role. But you never know how things are going to pan out in Hollywood. It could wind up being anyone if they’re in a rush to make some dough just based on name recognition. I hope not.
Not a big fan of Timothy Olyphant. He was alright; don’t get me wrong. But he didn’t wow me either…
You know who would be a great choice? Billy Zane. Sure he’s getting old but I think he would be perfect. He’s definitely bald enough…
@prtfvr
I’m a fan of the game and I don’t even think Jason Statham would have been good.
You need someone older. I’m hesitant to say Vin Diesel if only because it’s typcasting and he’s also not old enough, but he has the voice.
In an ideal world, a slightly younger Bruce Willis would have done an amazing job as Agent 47.
That said, Olyphant did a decent job with what he was given.
He just didn’t “look” naturally bald like Hitman should do. He looked – and was – just a guy with a shaven head playing a blad guy.
It just lacked believability.
@Steve – The movie about asassins that are breed from birth to be Hitman in by an underground socitey, wears a suit all the time, has a bar code tattooed on his head and fights ninjas with swords on a train car “lacks believability” to you because the lead character isn’t actually bald?!? Ummmmm…ok
Next you’re going to be complaining that the guy playing Santa Claus is belivable because he doesn’t have a big white beard in real life
Hands down. If Timothy O. Is out. So am I. It would not b the same without him.PERIOD
I hope he’s in it. He was surprisingly right for the role in a surprisingly good action movie. I’m only judging from the extended cut of the film. Didn’t see the theatrical cut.
I just meant that it just looked typically Hollywood just shaving someones head and slapping him in the movie just because he was cheap to get or whatever.
As opposed to getting someone who looked the part – I mean, Olyphants face is to wide, Hitman has thin cheekbones and powerful features like say James Marsters from Buffy (not saying he should play the part though lol)
You get what I mean though hopefully. Just compare pictures of Hitman and Olyphant and you’ll see what I mean.
@Steve
What are the odds that the secret society of hitmen only recruited kids guaranteed to remain bald throughout their killing careers? Someone had to have shaved their head once or twice.
@stuntmanJ
I just saw Olyphant in “A Perfect Getaway” and he was the best thing in the movie.
Vic
Look, I’m just saying he looked fake and not believable as him, but overall I liked the film and would love a sequel.
i am a very good fan of hitman i play the video games and i have the hitman movie i love that movie IT WOULDNT BE THE SAME WITHOUT HIM IN IT
Just say it, Jason Statham looks less intimidating,on the looks front.
Hitman has to be so ugly he’s sexy. Please! give the role to Jason so people can stop crying.
Love the Hitman movie, with Timothy and Olga has great chemistry,in fact I doubt very much Disel would fit that religious role, or statham. I think Olyphant is the perfect fit for agent 47 , he has a cool demeanour, that intimidating look, if he’s in hitman 2 , that would be reason enough to watch.
Olyphant did a good job but he looks too young and innocent to be an elite assassin. As a huge fan of the computer game franchise, there is no getting away from the fact that Jason Statham HAD to be the man in the suit. His acting in ‘The Transporter’ was evidence enough of this – even for the greastest of cynics. Vin Diesel has a good look but I think he would have struggled to exude the efficiency, precision and sharpness of Agent 47 – IMHO.
Hell ya!! It’s about time another Agent 47 !! Soooo effin’ Hot. Timothy is the hottest thing! I’m waiting….,
olyphant was the best thing in the movie and how can Olyphant be too young, when he is 4 years older than Jason Statham!!
Olyphant and the quality of the other actors was the only thing keeping the film from being another tatentless bloke fest.
Replace them with the likes of Statham and NO THANKS!!
i love Timothy Olyphant on hit man and i say hell yea who better than the same actor who started it plus i dont like repacements on movies its never the same
statham is too short, olyphant was fine. wont watch a sequel without him, continuity +1
Oplyphant needs to be in the second Hitman movie. He was a perfect Agent 47, he played the role just how it should have been done. When playing the games, which I was a big fan of, Agent 47 was sharp, keen, precise, inteligent, and perfect at what he does. Timothy Olyphant portrayd that entirely in his role. A replacement would be dumb, and I personally would not watch the movie.
Also, a replacement would not be a good idea because, like said before, continuity in movies is pretty much a must.
Oh yeah, I love Jason Statham. He is a fantastic actor, who could play the role very well, however, if anyone has ever played the hitman games, Agent 47 himself does not have an english accent, we would want to be keeping originality with the caliber of the game-to-movie ratio.
As I said, Statham is a great actor, I loved probably everyone of his movies, but him as a 47 would not work. He doesn’t look like 47 at all nor he doesn’t sound like him (in voice or his accent).
Timothy Olyphant was a perfect fit, besides his face being a little too wide compared to 47′s, he matched up perfectly.
my comment is … i want timothy back in hitman 2 as agent 47 again, he’s suitable for the assassin role \m/ things wouldn’t be the same if hitman 2 will be release without him and i personally think it will be boring if timothy was to be replace by another actor, no matter it was jason statham or vin diesel :L
as for conclusion, i just wanna say that, if there’s hitman 2 without timothy, i will not watch it but if there’s timothy, i’m gonna sit infront of the tv for hours \m/
oh yes, not to forget bout’ nika potrayed by olga, she’s hot and suitable for being agent 47′s partner
Timothy Olyphant rocked this movie and is perfect as agent 47.
