hitman Timothy Olyphant Open to Hitman 2

A couple of months ago, Screen Rant talked about 20th Century Fox hiring Kyle Ward to write the script for Hitman 2 – the sequel to their 2007 action film Hitman. Now Coming Soon had a chance to sit down with Agent 47 himself, Timothy Olyphant, during a junket for his upcoming movie A Perfect Getaway. When asked if he was signed on to do future Hitman movies, Olyphant responded:

“It’s not on my schedule. If they want me to do another one, I supposed they could have me, yes. What I can tell you about ‘Hitman’ is that I’m thrilled that it was as successful as it was and it was a really nice opportunity and I appreciate that opportunity.”

I would hope that 20th Century can get Olyphant on contract to play Agent 47 again. He is by no means irreplaceable but I like to see some continuity in term of actors playing characters. When studios start replacing guys in the lead role I get nervous. I like Edward Norton but using him to replace Eric Bana in The Incredible Hulk was iffy in my book at first – although ultimately it turned out to be a fantastic move for the film and the franchise.

There could always be the possibility that Olyphant is too busy to star in another Hitman. With A Perfect Getaway releasing next week and a starring role in the George Romero remake The Crazies, it’s quite possible he could bow out due to scheduling conflicts.

If the studio decides not to go with Olyphant, what other actor would be bald enough to hold Agent 47′s pistols? Jason Statham perhaps?

Do you want Timothy Olyphant to come back as Agent 47 or is there someone else you would prefer to see?

There is currently no release date for Hitman 2.

  1. ..i think there’s no other who will fit agent 47′s role than olyphant…

    • I agree marc. Timothy Olyphant was awsome in this movie and it is one of my favorites of all time. I watch a lot of movies.

  2. Definitely not Jason Statham. I do admire the actor and am a fan, but they should really spice up his role. It is too predictable. Of course I appreciate the action – top notch stuff. :)
Hitman 2 should definitely be with Tymothy Olyphant. Please don’t ruin it!! It is more than the action – there is a charismatic presence in Olyphant and an enigma that is a key part of 47. If they do replace, it will be tricky.

  3. Timothy Olymphant in my opinion was good as agent 47 for the most part. I’m a big fan of the game, and I try to play it with perfection like the real agent 47. I think that Olymphant’s voice in the movie was a bit too soft for the real 47. And also some times his demeanor and face did’nt suit the stone cold demeanor of the video game version. Overall I think he did a good job and it was a really good movie.

  4. Tim oly or no1 else

  5. When you get make a great movie with a good actor, and make a sequel with somebody else, 98 out of 100 the sequel is a bust. That’s what’s going to happen if T. Olyphant doesn’t make agent 47. P. Walker isNOT a good candidate. He’s better at running cars instead of killing people.

  6. I hope tim come back first movie was. Good

  7. I love that movie. I watch it a lot. I hope they make another HITMAN.Paul Walker, be real. The only person that can play agent 47 is Timothy Olyphant. He is Agent 47, his screen presence as Agent 47. No one else in hollywood has it. Trying to replace Timothy Olyphant. Would be like trying to replace Morgan Freeman with Tyler perry as Alex Cross. And That turned out to be a great idea. If they have to delay it for awhile that’s ok with me.

  8. If you replace Timmy olyphant it will ruin the movie completely

  9. wasn’t a big fan of his before but after Hitman I am completely obsessed and have watched the movie more than 50 times.there is NO ONE ELSE that could or should play 47 EVER!

  10. hes needs to come back because hes better than anyone and hes the only one can play agent 47 better and i like the car scene when agent 47 tells nika not to talk then i remember when he puts her in the car trunk funny VERY FUNNY. COME BACK PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

  11. Timothy Olyphant needs to come back as Agent 47, he was brilliant. I despise Hollywood for continuously ruining sequels for what they think will be extra profit. BRING TIMOTHY BACK!!

  12. Yes!!! Timothy Olyphant was perfect for the role. He was born to do it and the role was made for him. Justified’s new season starts in January 2014. Please??? Plus, I am tired of movies changing actors mid~stream also. I was told he was going to do Hitman 2 and Hitman 3. His walk is down to a T.

  13. Paul’s dead, mates. I hope this means Timothys’ back in this role, and they don’t cancel the movie altogether. Olyphants’ the boss.

  14. The role of agent 47 belong to Olyphant no body else I watched da movie so many times and every time is on tv I watch it again brilliant brilliant brilliant!!! Can’t wait for the sequel please hurry

  15. Timothy Oliphant owned the screen in Hitman. His chemistry with Olga, and even Dougray Scott sold the premise. It had good solid writing, great locations and special effects; what’s more, it made everyone happy! That was beyond amazing. This is time for a super sequel and the roll-out of a dynasty of films (I’m constantly amazed at the quality of the writing for Game formats). It would be tragic to ruin this great beginning with a second-class, amateur, wanna-be film!

  16. Mark Strong would be the best actor for Agent 47. He looks more like the character in Absolution, more aggressive and harder face than Olyphant. Sorry but he looks to kind for the role.

  17. Yes…I definately agree that agent 47 should be played by Timothy. The movie would suck if they start changing the actors. Praying they release the movie soon with Timothy and Olga.

  18. Olyphant had the mannerisms of the character down perfect. He is the best character out there right now in my opinion.

  19. Absolutely Timothy should be in hitman 2 It would in no way be the same and could imagine it to be far less enjoyable Olga should also be in it again wouldn’t be the same without her either.

I’d be very disappointed if both were replaced.

  20. I hope that Mr. Olyphant does come back for the sequel. He really captured the essence of the Hitman game, as I’ve known it. I hope they continue the story with the young lady that played.the female fatale. They had great chemistry, also there is so many character arcs they can play with between the two of them. So I’m all in for Mr. Olyphant reprising HIS role as Agent 47.

  21. I am still waiting for a sequel. A masterful performance brought to us on the first iteration. Maybe they do not wish to gamble and lose with a second round flop.

  22. NO one can take place Mr. Olyphant as agent 47, he is the best at the role.

  23. i can state in diesel and jason statham

  24. Tim is the perfect person to do Hitman. A sequel is due …Timothy looks just like the game…PLEASE dont replace him

  25. Timothy was perfect shot ,they are ruining Hitman franchise. He had the looks and bliss in his eyes.Even other characters was superb to the mix.

  26. Hitman is a great film!!! & they should use no one else
