This is a huge disappointment. I was really hoping it would be him. He, more than anyone else I can think of is a perfect fit. Not to mention a very good actor that could really bring some depth to the role.
  • High Kalibur
    Brad Pitt....
  • Ash Ali
That would work, but therein lies the problem. He may be too famous. People may see Brad Pitt instead of Thor.
  • Uh guys... Brad Pitt is older than both McKidd AND Daniel Craig: He's 45.

    Vic
  • Ash Ali
There's that too. Pitt is likely not to be in the running due to the aforementioned description in the article. But still McKidd would have been simply fantastic.
  • JMoney
    That sucks, I wanted Vorenus

I can't really think of any blond A-listers that would fit the role, i guess they could always dye the hair.

Maybe Sawyer from Lost, but he might be too old as well,

maybe Alexander Skarsgard from True Blood
  • Gary
My first thought was this description rules out Brad Pitt LOL!
  • ken c
So yea, im 24, 6'4 muscular 230lbs! maybe i should try for it! haha, im so not an actor tho.
  • High Kalibur
Do you guys think Pitt looks 45..?
  • ken c
It doesnt matter how old he looks, pitt is def not right for this role. they need a no name. who will unfortunately become type cast afterword but thats what they need.
  • High Kalibur
I think Pitt is perfect, he has the look and is a great actor. On top of that the ladies love 'em.

But... he is not young enough. Why do you think it is that Thor, must look in his early 20's?
  • High Kalibur
    or.. mid-to late...?
  • jcathey
Having an unknown would fit to what is going on with IM2. Mckidd would be great in the role "the last legion" for example is a role he exelled in. They made him look huge. Maybe it is money problems with marvel studio or they are trying to keep cost of avengers down. I personally an disappointed
  • Ken J
If it's Brad Pitt I won't be watching it. I'll let all of the girls with a googly eyes to go watch their dimple faced pretty boy on the big screen. My vote is still for McKidd despite the age thing, they should stop with this younger hipper idiocy anyhow.

I can't think of anyone, but if we can't get McKidd my vote is for anyone but Brad Pitt.
  • Taylor Kitsch should've been Thor by these requirements, not Gambit.

And likewise, this man should've been Gambit-- but since it's the only other name that's coming up with that description ( sorry guys, this hurts me to say ) Ryan Gosling.

    Rev

I think pitt would be a bad move because hes a diva, the movie will change to make him happy and make him look the best, not thor. I agree he is a great actor, but too much of a diva to be a comic book hero.
  • letthieri
Well damn. That rules out both Kevin McKidd and Garret Dillahunt. I was hoping to see one of those two in the movie.
  • Doom3524
What about Josh Hartnett? He is just over 30, so almost late 20's and he kicked some serious tail in 30 Days of Night.
  • huntthejest
Hartnett, really? Gosling? Guys, these are some crappy suggestions for the God of Thunder, one of the most physically powerful Avengers(the most, after the Hulk.) James Preston Rogers gets my vote.
  • Balasco
    Alexander Skarsgård +1
  • Adrian
I'm also believe Alexander Skarsgard from True Blood could be a good pick
  • Joe
guess this squashes all my hopes of sean bean wielding the hammer...
  • SK47
    @huntthejest

YES, James Preston Rogers! People, look at that image above...although Vorrenus is bad ass, he is small in stature and he cannot really grab a hold of the screen whenever he is around. Thor is character that has a presence and you need someone that fits that bill! Think of when how Arnold was in The Terminator. Certainly not Hartnett, come on! You gotta pump gallons of anabolics on that guy if you want to see the above pic on screen! Or go the sissy-way & put a muscle suit on him.

Skarsgard is a great choice also, he truly stood out in Generation Kill.

In that casting sheet from Corona, shouldn't it be 'compassionate, mature heir' not 'mature her'?
  • goliad
Kevin Mckidd would be perfect for this role, however i would be expecting pullo to come out and save him every time thor gets in a jam.
  • JMoney
    no, probably mature hero
  • Ken J
    LOL @ goliad

Hey, he saved Pullo's butt a few times too, they are BOTH bad ass. When I watched the show, everytime someone said something or refused to help either of them, my first thought is "oh no, they've done it this time..." Especially Pullo, that guy was a monster. I was expecting him to crush someone's skull with his bare hands everytime he got pissed.

@SK47, I don't think Kevin McKidd is a small guy, it's just that we're used to him standing next to Ray Stevenson, which is a ginormous monster...
  • SK47
    @Ken J

You are right, McKidd is listed at 6ft and Stevenson is 6ft 4 (i had to look it up), weird, even on Journeyman he appeared to be small in stature.
I still say James Preston Rogers for Thor!

Or, here is a though, why not get a Norweigen or Sweidish actor to play a Viking character?
  • Ken J
I guess McKidd keeps being surrounded by people taller than him somehow.
  • Mike D
Brad Pitt is NOT 6 feet or taller. Ripped yes, good actor yes. taller than 5'8" no.
  • Ash Ali
    James Preston Rogers = FAIL

Oh yeah, he's perfect...I mean just look at his filmography. Real impressive. Not to mention an actor who can carry an entire film...Oh wait? He's never carried the film as a lead character? Oh look, he's 37 years old. Oh darn.
