Thor Movie Orb of Agamotto 570x380 Odins Vault & Thors Connections To The Marvel Universe

Orb of Agamotto [Unconfirmed]

First Appearance: Strange Tales #118 (1963)

Like The Eye of Agamotto, this Orb is another item in possession of Dr. Strange in the comics. He stores it in the Chamber of Shadows, a room in his Sanctum Sanctorum (his mansion and base of the New Avengers).

The Orb of Agamatto offers Dr. Strange clairvoyance since it can locate where magic is being used, or dangers to the world. It can be, however, blocked by other powerful magic users (i.e. Asgardian sorceress Enchantress – a potential Thor 2 villain?) to keep their location secret.

  1. Am i the only one who wishes to see Thor wear his helmet more in The Avengers film? Aswell as sequels to the solo franchise? Cause i can’t imagine the makers of the film makin such a awesome Thor helmet & have Chris Hemsworth wear it for amatter of seconds. I seen Thor 3 times & it was hard for me catch the Infinity Gaunlet in the vault.

  2. Avenger,

Man you are sooo right. I stand corrected. He did get me. Wings on the ankles of a real life half merman from Atlantis is stupid. No way would they work.
How silly of me to suggest otherwise.
“And now for something completely differnet…”

    • you are amusing.

  3. Am I the only one who noticed that the markings on the stone tablet and around the other artifacts are straight out of The Hobbit? The map at the beginning of the book has a straight letter-substitution alphabet, and it matches completely with what’s on these “eggs”.

At least, I think it does. The symbols are exact duplicates, and “Eternal Flame” is spelled perfectly, but I can’t get a good enough look at the other symbols to translate them. Too many shadows, and sometimes the objects themselves get in the way. If I could get a better look, then I could translate them. Anyone could, really.

    • It’s Elder Futhark (Viking) runes- my translation is below. And yes, Tolkien used them a lot.

      • The reason for that is Tolkien loved languages and was a language professor. A lot out of tolkiens world like lord of the rings and the hobbit is based off of Norse mythology. The dwarvish language your referring too in the hobbit is not Norse but pretty damn close. It’s based off of Anglo Saxon sand script. So yeah. It’s the same stuff you see in those dragonalogy books lol

    • The words written on the pillar say “Those Who Sit” In reference to the unknown elder gods who existed long before the Asgardians. It is written in Elder Futhark, not to be confused with Tolkein’s LOTR Dwarvish Runes.

  4. I never knew how much Thor and Odin stole stuff lol.
    Good to read though.

    • @lagi213, LOL! Yes, Indeed, they are also The Gods of Thieves. Lol. Wow that’s sounds badass and funny at the same time! “THE GOD OF THIEVES!”

  5. As far as the “unconfirmed” stuff goes- has anyone noticed the items are labelled? I used to write notes with my friend in Elder Futhark runes, so I read them easily.
The Eternal Flame says “Eternal Flame” behind it.
If you lighten the Infinity Gauntlet pic up to reveal detail, the wall behind it has a word beginning with “Tun..” which seems meaningful until you realize they stuck it in front of the “Orb” space to take the pic.
The Warlock’s Eye (Harokin’s crazy helmet) has no rune label but is unmistakable once you’ve seen the comic. You can see the eye-holes of the helm, too:)
The “Orb of Agamotto”- it says “Tuning Fork” behind it, so I am inclined to think it’s not the Orb at all (why would that be in Asgard??) but the tuning fork from the giant Inhuman’s bulldog, Lockjaw. The Fork can transport groups of people anywhere, so it’s a handy device that might return Thor to Earth later.
The Tablet of Life- possibly- but again, after lightning it, you can read all the runes on the artifact- “Those Who Sit Above in Shadow”- so it may have nothing to do with the tablets of Life & Time or Death & Entropy.
    Interesting stuff, all around:)

  6. The runes behind the Orb read, “tuning fork” and the ones on the Tablet say, “those who sit.”

    • Aaand now I see that this has already been addressed, and in more detail. Sorry.

  7. Tuning Fork? Could be related to Black Bolt/Lockjaw but how about the tuning fork Odin used to summon the Lurking Unknown in Thor #136. As I recall it was trapped in an orb when defeated.

  8. The runes above the “Orb of Agamotto” say “Tuning Fork”.

  9. Is there any infinity thor odin force codes?
If there is, please share it to me.

    Thank you :)

  10. but In movie ‘thor’ that golden glove n that flame didn’t appeared . :(
