On Saturday at Comic-Con 2010, Marvel Studios brought the house down with one of the biggest and most exciting panels in Comic-Con history. Not only was it the first time we witnessed footage from The First Avenger: Captain America and Thor, but we met the core cast behind The Avengers.
Captain America had only been shooting for 8 days so we didn’t get to see much, but Thor has been in production since early this year and we had the chance to watch a full five minute trailer, showcasing nearly all of the characters of the film in many scenes both on Earth and in Asgard. Now, you can watch that footage too and see what had fans going crazy over the weekend.
Directed by Kenneth Branagh and written by Ashley Miller and Don Payne, Thor stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Kat Dennings, Idris Elba, Ray Stevenson, Rene Russo, Clark Gregg, Jaimie Alexander, Colm Feore, Tadanobu Asano, Joshua Dallas and Joe Gatt.
Watch and enjoy while you can:

UPDATE: Since Viacom screwed us on YouTube by reporting us for a copyright violation of a video WE shot of the public Tranformers 3 Chicago set, we’ve decided to pull this Thor video since it was not officially released by the studio.
Notice how much better the costumes look and work in live-action as opposed to those Thor stills which released prior to Comic-Con. We also get to see the helmets of the main characters which also had many worried.
I totally dig the aesthetic and costume designs now that I see how they look, especially in the Asgardian locations. The Warriors Three, Sif, Loki, Odin all look good after seeing this trailer and most importantly, Chris Hemsworth totally nails Thor. He is the God of Thunder.

Is Thor something you’re looking forward to now?

I thought it was cool.
Can you post some more pics of the trailer? Thanks!
You know mbl I hate when people saying that. “we are all going to see this regardless” that’s not always the case sometimes we choose not to watch something because it just looks so awful. For instance I have no plans to watch Spiderman, First Class and Captain America is on the fence. As for Thor at the moment I plan to but if it continues to look this bad I’m going to skip it. I have no interest in wasting 2 hours of my life.
Your choice buddy-boy but with 89% of the folks polled about the trailer actually liking it, I suspect I can submit to you being on the other end. No worries.
Actually Thor is one of my fave characters to read and oddly enough years of reading Thor and never once have I seen Asgard look like this. Santa I’d love to see the comic you claim that looked like this. That must be one of the very rare Thor issues that I missed I’d love to know what number it is so I can buy it and burn it because that artist must of never seen Asgard in a comic before.
i guess u didn’t read many Thor comics then. Jack Kirby’s Asgard id vewry much like the movie.
I actually know all that it was just a joke lol. While it’s very innaccurate it’s always a fun joke to make. Mostly I use it to make fun of my step father he’s a nice guy we just tease each other a lot and he has a big as 4×4 and it’s even lifted lol.
Anyway nice to see another fan of the human mind. I actually have taken alot of classes on the subject and fir awhile considered working in the field. Now I mostly keep my self updated with articles and a few mags that I subscribe to. Once In a blue moon if I find time in my busy schedule I love to go to conferences. It’s interesting to hear new theorys or get new info on an old one. Kind of why I really enjoy films that involve the mind.
I don’t know much about the iPod but if it’s anything like the iPhone you need to jailbreak it first which is the fansy way of saying hack it.
Not gonna watch it!
^
No trailers ,,, I want to enjoy the film without seeing the entire plot played out in the series of trailers leading up to the release…
^
All I know is Tom Cruise and Seth Rogan are not in the film, so I’m there, I don’t need your stinking trailers!,,,
Points:
First, I Am Not Watching PG-13 Movies. It’s Usually Just Really Bad Movies Made PG-13 To Get As Much Money As They Can.
Superhero Movies Are Getting Played Out
They Showed Possible The Whole Movie Plot In That Trailer
The Costume…It’s Corny And Terrible.
Movie Looks Terrible Just From The Trailer
The Trailer Must Have Taking A Transformers Approach And Felt That Clipping In Random Explosions Would Get People Excited.
Quote Me On Saying: This Movie Will Be Complete Garbage(If You Can’t Tell If A Movie Will Be Good From The Trailers I Don’t Know What To Tell You) And The Fad Of Superhero Movies/Comic Book Themed Is Almost Dead.
I think you will be completely wrong
is anyone else pleased that they are at least doing one character this year that actually wears a suit and not just a green leotard *cough*Ryan Reynolds*cough*
Noooo, dailymotion pulled it too!
Meh I make my opinions based on what I actually think and not based on not based on popular opinion or polls. I like to think for my self I know it’s strange and new age and all but that’s how I roll.
You can cast my vote however you want I havnt actually voted anyway. Screen rant and firefox don’t get along so I only view the site from my phone because IE sucks. Mobile version doesn’t have polls and I don’t really like voting on them anyway I find them useless and generally unreliable especially site specific polls. Basically the results tell you what the members of this site who bothered them selves with voting thought. It doesn’t say much about those of us who didn’t vote on it or those who are general movie going audience that don’t visit this site.
I would go out of my way to vote If it mattered but we aren’t exactly voting for a new Asgard or better costumes it’s not like a vote is gonna make them re shot the film. If it did make changes like that though I’d say let’s vote Chris Evans out of Cap. A man dream.
@Daniel
IE sucks so bad that even though that’s all I use I’ve never had any problem viewing this site even when everyone was complaining about it freezing or crashing all the time. Man, IE blows… [/sarcasm]
I think people think it makes them sound cool or something to go against using something that came with your operating system, like they “know better than to stick to defaults” or whatever, but I’m not into that, I just use whatever works the best for me, and I’ve used them all, except Chrome but that’s only because I’m afraid of Google and their world domination plans, lol, half joking.
I have the latest version IE 8 and it’s very fast, sorry Firefox fans, I’ve timed them head to head and IE 8 loads faster for me, yes, they cheat because it’s integrated in the operating system, but I don’t care WHY it’s faster, it just is, so oh well. And I’ve had Firefox crash on me constantly, and sure it’s nice they have the feature to reopen the last browsing session, but so does IE now, not that I’ve had to use it much for the IE, I’ve only had a page freeze on me once since I updated to IE 8… And yes, I know all about the add-ons for Firefox that can do all kinds of stuff like block ads to bid on items on ebay with superhuman speed… Don’t need any of that at the moment so I’m willing to give that up…
I mean what sucks about it? It renders every page I go to accurately, it supports all of the flash/java/activex, etc… And before you claim about security, the security settings are actually very strict on IE 8, it doesn’t run anything that can install anything in your computer without your permission. It’s just from what I’ve seen, people click “OK” or “yes” or whatever’s the first button available on pop-ups without even reading it, it’s so annoying, the MILLISECOND a pop-up comes, they click it, then when it results in their computer or browser not doing what they wanted it to, they will go “what happened? This stupid computer!” as if they didn’t just contribute to it. My first question is “what did that window say you just clicked on?” Their answer is always “Uh, I don’t know…” and they give this nervous laughter because they KNOW it was because of that and they didn’t bother to read it… I mean, DUH, READ THINGS!!! Basically when I’m diagnosing the problem with someone, I find myself doing what Batman is doing in your gravatar A LOT…
Anyway, for me, IE works perfect, so I can’t join you in the “hate Microsoft” bandwagon until someone can explain to me why it sucks so bad… I actually might be a Microsoft fanboy actually… ugh… but all of their stuff seems to work very well with me… I’ve had multiple Logitech mice fail on me, but NONE of the Microsoft mice I’ve bought for myself or others’ computers have ever failed, even the ones I bought 5-10 years ago still work, their keyboards have never failed on me either, although I do have to admit I miss the old Compaq Presario keyboards, their multimedia buttons felt so nice!! lol. I don’t know about their new stuff, but I’m not too keen on the HP/Compaq brand so I’ll just stick with the Microsoft…
And even operating systems, I have tried Apple, Windows, and Linux, and the one that works the best for me is Windows. Linux is very compact and flexible, but it really lacks too much support for things. Even to get the correct aspect ratio for my 16:10 monitor requires special beta drivers… no thanks… And browsing the internet on Linux using Firefox was unstable as hell… Not sure if anyone else had this experience, but there were constant crashing…
Windows Vista is pretty much bloatware. Even though the latest updates have pretty much fixed all of the stability issues, it still runs pretty sluggish compared to XP or Windows 7 (least creative Windows name, EVER, lol). Windows 7 is awesome, and if you have a 64-bit processor and you install the 64-bit Windows 7, it’s beyond awesome, everything runs great on it. It’s super stable like XP was, and has options galore.
Uh, anyway, I’m ranting about computers here, guns, computers, cars, politics, gotta stay away from those topics, lol…
Daniel have you read all 610 issues of Thor..if you have then I guess you ARE the expert to tell us what Asgard should look like..
Lol Greenknight I don’t think you understand how big of a comic or Thor fan I am. I have not read every last issue but actually i’m very close. Ive only not read a few issues I’ve even read the ultimates version and what ifs. I actually own roughly 215 issues I’ve read more but don’t own all that I’ve read Thor Is in my top four heroes which is a compliment to the character since I like alot of heroes.
lol cant see the trailer it got pulled
search on dailymotion.com for thor comic-con trailer. Its 5 min long and it looks pretty sweet!
You can still watch it here. Damned studios crying over this footage being leaked? It only helps your movie dumb ass’s.

That one picture of Thor with his helmet holding up his hammer in front of the crowd makes me imagine him screaming, “tonight, we dine in ASGARD!!!”
YOU CAN VIEW IT HERE. The site is french, but the trailer is in English…

I hope u never go to france and show them this site that is cleary in spanish claiming it is french SMH.
Ken have you forgot we had this conversation before? I’ve proven most of your theories about me and IE wrong. Remember we disscussed on here before how I actually like Microsoft? We disscussed that I love windows as an operating system. Also I don’t think any one in their right mind could suggest that I care about what’s treandy or popular I think I have a reputation for not giving a crap about trends, popularity or what anyone thinks other than me lol.
Other than SR firefox simply works better with me. Also while IE isn’t as bad now as it used to be most of that is because of firefox. Alot of features that IE has started using the past few years firefox came out with first.
I was talking about it in general, wasn’t referring to you, just people in general. I hear all kinds of talk about how absolutely horrible IE is, yet it works 100% perfect for me while Firefox doesn’t… So I’m simply expressing that unless for some odd reason I’m the only person in the entire world that IE works flawlessly for both while I was using XP and now that I’m using Windows 7, that the browser itself probably isn’t as bad as people try to claim it to be…
Again, not you specifically, but I feel that people just need to stop clicking yes to everything and installing every useless toolbar that is thrown into the install files of so many programs now, and so many other useless add-ons that do little for you except slow down and destabilize the browser, then maybe they too will have a 100% good experience with it too…
But you know, sometimes I can’t even bring myself to look at other peoples’ computers… Often time I spend a good hour just uninstalling and removing all of the useless crap they have bogging down their computers… ugh…
Again, people in general, not you Daniel…
Oh my GOD!
Unless that trailer is totally misleading this looks like it has the potentail to greatly exceed expectations. I can’t believe how
1 Part Nolan-eque + 2 parts Faverou-ish
This thing looks like it coudl be. Just enough drama and heavy story to be seriours and not dumdeb down (as Nolan woudl do) but still not be soo heavy its never humroous (the Faverau-ish take).
I swear Agent Coulson looks like he just may be a sceen stealer. That guys is absolutely histarical in everything so far with Iron man and in THOR they managed to make him even funnier; I LOVE IT!
Hey Ken what model BB do you have? I picked up the 9700 model today…
@790
Could have sworn you asked me this before, lol. I have the 9000. Basically the same one you got but a bit wider and the track ball instead of the track pad. Wish mine came with the pad, moving parts mean eventual failure, lol. But I’ll deal with it when the time comes I guess…
What’s with black and superhero costumes, for goodness sakes!
It looks ok, clear influence of Excalibur with the whole only the worthy one can pull the hammer for the stone and gain some sort of power. Maybe the costumes will look a bit better on the big screen.. Guess I will see in May 2011
Interesting I’m actually looking at Jack Kirbys Asgard right next to the trailer and I’m sorry to say no they don’t look alike.
Thanks marvel, ruin more of my childhood characters. all the parts of the trailer look like they stole it from different movies. from Hulk, Chronicles of Riddick.
If you dont think that robot at the end and the whole scene was taken from the day the earth stood still. your crazy. i dislike it and i havent even read the script
@Jurgen, “ruin more of my childhood” WTF?
You obviously haven’t read the comics because the movie looks very close to what was illustrated in them. “that robot” again WTF? That’s the damn destroyer, stupid!!! It looks exactly like the comic, you should read them and you’ll see that. You people are so stupid, is it fun to bash and hate on every movie that’s based on a comic book. Grow up!!! Thor looks awesome, better than Iron Man.
Ryan,
No need to call anyone stupid.
Vic
Vic ur the man, Ryan ur absolutly correct. People need to have a little back round before commenting. The Destroyer is amazing, and looks great in the clip (A.K.A the black super hero costume as someone posted lmao). Azgaurd looks like Mt Olympus with the whole light above the darkness. Should ppl think it looks like the Cronicles of Ridick, well that movie had some great screen shots, so why not update the look and incorperate it. As far as pulling the hammer from the stone, i wouldnt be suprised if the clip is leaving something out for us to see in the movie. Vic, u think the destroyer in a major part of this fill or do u think its the end of the film leading into the Avengers(As i belive would be an awsome concept)?
Here’s the plot that I have gathered from watching the clip and reading info on Thor:
Thor reignites the war with the frost giants, so he is banished by Odin and cannot return until he has proven himself worthy. Loki learns of his true past, how Odin killed his father, and decides to collaborate with the frost giant Ymir. With Thor gone, that places Loki as the heir to the throne, since Loki has always felt over shadowed by Thor and Odin, he plots a way to kill Odin and seize power. Thor, while on earth befriends the beautiful Jane Foster and embarks on a journey to find the Mjolnir, but finds himself unable to wield it. Meanwhile, back in Asgard, Loki located the Casket of Ancient Winters, which contains Ymir’s powers. Upon regaining his power, Ymir kills Odin and Loki becomes king. Sif and the Warriors Three – Fandral, Volstagg, and Hogun – suspect an evil plot by Loki, so Sif goes to earth to warn Thor of what is happening. Somehow Thor regains his hammer and power, so Loki sends the destroyer armor to earth to kill him, but it fails. Thor travels to Jotunheim, where he defeats Ymir, locking away his power in the casket. Thor and Sif return to Asgard where Thor and Loki, wielding Odin’s spear, battle. The spear is stronger than the Mjolnir, making this a challenging fight for Thor. After a climactic battle, Loki is defeated and locked away in a dungeon. SHIELD confronts Thor offering him a position on The Avengers. Nick Fury ensures that the Casket of Ancient Winters will never be opened again by hiding it in a top secret SHIELD base, maybe Ryker’s island? Somehow Odin is revived, maybe with The Infinity Gaunlet?
This is my assumption of the plot and is in no way the “official” plot. I’m just stating my theory based on the trailer and articles about the movie.
A great job so far!! Much better than I was expecting in reality (givin the complexity of the story of the God of Thunder).
I just like to point out to all those out there that are tryng to wind down the effords of the people behind the movie… That making a movie is not an easy task… And is more difficult when is a movie about a well know and loved character… So just given them a chance and wait, Kenneth Branagh is a great director (lookout for his version of “Hamlet”) and I am sure that the movie will be great… It will be haters??? Yes I am also sure of that (They never fail!) But just keep in mind that is so much easier to trash someone else work than create something!!
Peace and blessing to all.
I hardly use any of the add ons some of them are great and make my life a little easier.
I do find that Firefox blocks a lot more pop ups for me and runs faster and smoother. It also takes less memorey and puts a smaller load on my processor than IE. For instance I play MMOs . For instance I use to play EQ when I played I found that I could run three EQ accounts and search IE but I can run 4 EQ accounts and surf on Mozilla. It’s not something that would matter to you but is a big deal for me.
Like I said before though IE is much better now than it was before. 6 years ago IE was terrible in comparison. I started using Mozilla 7 years ago and it offered way more than IE but suddenly IE is getting up to the same level of service. I gotta say IE took alot of Mozillas ideas. Which is a good thing that’s why I love competition. I know Tabs is one of the greatest things to happen to the Internet browsing for me at least and Mozilla had it first IE saw how popular it was and did the same. Every body wins. I still consider Firefox to be superior but the gap is closing and IE is a decent browser the last year or two. They may even come up with a great inovation that comes above firefox and convince me to make a change.
I never understood people buying all the fancy computer accessories. I spend alot and I mean alot of money on computers but when it comes to my mouse and keyboard I go cheap bottom of the barrel basics. I don’t see why anyone needs the special flashy parts. 9$ mouse 15$ keyboard. My mom buys all the wireless flash extra button crap and she always hates them or breaks them. Accidently hitting a hidden zoom button and they all die after a few months. My mouse and keyboards have lasted years. I still use an 8 year old mouse lol. I figure I have volume control on my speakers why do I need it on my keyboard lol.
I don’t lol just never cared.
@Daniel
Actually, $15 today will get you a multimedia keyboard with shortcut keys galore. They aren’t expensive at all. My mouse is the only thing that might be a little expensive, but not anything crazy, think I got it for like $20-$25, forgot. But I don’t buy wireless anything. Wireless means batteries, batteries mean they will run out on you at the worst possible moment, lol. My mouse is a laser mouse, more accurate than an optical mouse. Gotta get those headshots, lol. But my keyboard is pretty plain, just a few shortcut keys on the top and that’s it, not one of those weird wavy ones or split angled ones, never could get used to those… Think I paid $15 for my keyboard, so I’m right around where you are with that…
