In what would be the movie crossover to end all crossovers, Chris Hemsworth reveals that he would love his MCU Thor to share a screen with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.

Some stars are almost perfectly cast in their roles, and with Hemsworth playing the God of Thunder since 2011 and Jackman playing Wolverine from 2000-2017, both became staples of the superhero movie genre. Although Jackman seems to have put down his adamantium claws forever after James Mangold's Logan, it hasn't stopped Hemsworth imagining a world where he gets to swing Mjolnir at a lycra-clad version of the former X-Men actor.

Speaking exclusively to Screen Rant, Hemsworth was quizzed on which of the newly acquired Fox characters he would like to cross paths with:

"I mean, Wolverine, just because I love that character, you know what I mean? I just love Hugh Jackman. Unfortunately, he died in the last movie, didn’t he?"

Interestingly, Thor and Wolverine have rarely taken each other on in the comics, but perhaps it is something for the MCU writers to mull over for the near future? Hemsworth wrapped filming on 2019's Avengers 4 and says that he can't wait to renew his contract for more appearances as Thor, so with an impending X-Men reboot coming our way, who knows what could happen beyond Disney's current cinematic slate. When also reminded of Wolverine's many resurrections in the comics, the 34-year-old actor's mind continued to whir on how the ruler of Asgard could take on the feral beast that is Wolverine:

"We can bring him back to life... Now that you’ve informed me that it’s a possibility I’m going to get on the one phone and try to coax him over or convince him and see if he has one more in him."

A coiffured Jackman first popped out his claws to play Wolverine in Bryan Singer's X-Men, and was one of the first big castings of the superhero boom, long before Robert Downey Jr. flew the MCU to our screens in 2008. Obviously, a comic book movie world without Jackman's Wolverine is a hard pill to swallow, and it seems that even his fellow actors want to see him back in action. However, there is sadly one major flaw in the plan. On the subject of Jackman suiting up again, he has said that he will NEVER play James Howlett again, but that doesn't stop the rest of us (even Hemsworth) from dreaming.

While audiences will eventually have to get used to another Logan, even Jackman has come to terms with someone else playing Wolverine. With some incredibly big footsteps to walk in, good luck to whoever plays Wolverine next, but who knows, maybe Hemsworth will see his wish come true of going hammer to claw with the cigar-chomping Canadian - just not Jackman.
