As Dr SamBeckett & M-Cat have already said, I think it’s a great choice too.I really enjoyed Live Free or Die Hard and the Underworld films.

I’m a real big fan of camera movements in action scenes and Len Wiseman certainly has the talent for edge of your seat action; but man there would be tremendous pressure to get everything else right too.

I also like the idea that he grew up reading comics which also make for great storyboards in pre production, so he probably knows those characters really well.

Oh and he’s married to the very lovely Kate Beckinsale

Len Wiseman sounds like a good choice. I liked Live Free or Die Hard and not only for the action. The Underworld movies were awesome too and if he can handle directing cgi werewolves then he definitely has the experience to get the job done. But, would he want the directors chair?

I have no problems with Len Wiseman doing the Avengers, I went into see DieHard 4, expecting a horrific experience and what did I get? One of the most fun action movies I had seen since True Lies!

Wiseman has the talent to construct amazing action sequences and still keep his characters the focus, so a good choice, I also would like to put forward; James Mcteigue and Matthew Vaughn.

Personally I want to see Matthew Vaughn take charge of Superman.

What do you guys think of Len Wiseman as a possible candidate for directing “The Avengers”?

The guy grew up reading comic books so he may already have a really good understanding of what makes these characters tick.

He directed “Die Hard And Live” in 2007 & the “Underworld” films which had lots of great action sequences.

I think he’s pretty cool but it seems he’s already pretty busy with other projects.

I have just one expectation from Thor, IM2, and any other Marvel movie… just make it fun enough for me to enjoy it, and maybe … just maybe … I’ll go back to the multiplex and see it again.

Now that I think about it, I had no expectations for
The Dark Knight, and look how that turned out.

I have had my fingers burnt before. I have learnt to lower any expectations I have for movies, otherwise you will always end up disappointed if you build it up in your mind too much.

I have zero expectations for Thor, which is one of the reasons I can look forward to it in safety.

I completely agree with you. The Avengers just seems to me like a very daunting task. One that has to be done well.

With all the characters and stories involved, it can be great, or it can be awful. There isn’t any in between here. IMHO.

I am just hoping that it meets all of our expectations.

Since this ties in with The Avengers I thought I would mention it. Moviefone UK did an interview with Faran Tahir (terrorist) from Iron Man here:

He talks about Mandarin and how he could be involved in the third movie or the future so Favreau is obviously staying busy with everything Iron Man. It also goes into some other aspects of The Avengers and Iron Man and hinting at really building up the storyline around War Machine.

In reference to “The Avengers” they really should look at getting an (A List) Director with a proven track record for handling big budget pictures.

What’s Peter Jackson up to these days? Ideas for any others?

Secondly the Director needs to have a passion, understanding and respect for the characters involed in order to have them accurately portrayed on the big screen.

Just as important is to have a well written script with all the emotional elements of great storytelling without comprimising the integrity, respect and glory that this film deserves.

I’m really starting to worry about The Avengers. The pressure to bring it all together will be more intense than Avatar IMO. I don’t think any director will want to take up this huge project and have to answer to everyone. Way too much pressure there.
