@chiguy yes that cameo is 1 and as the mailman in the first one. those 2 are mainly where i get my reaction to his cameos being so pointless but the others are alomost the exact same. Lets hope he gets better ones in the future im gonna be very ineterested to c how they do it in the THOR bc that seems like it would not fit at all.

I still diasagree drsambeckett, he is of course the most influential comic book writer ever im not disagreeing with that.I do think he should have cameos but not the ones hes getting. They can do it so much better than mailman in ff42 and other small parts like that u know 1 comment then he leaves???. I have to say I do like the ironman2 cameo if he is goin to play larryking that makes so much more sense for the movie and wouldnt distract me at all.Those are the cameos he should get, say a character in the movie that goes with the storyline however big or small instead of 1 liners he deserves more than that.

Stan Lee deserves these csmeos, just look at the massive list of characters he has been involved in creating, the man has had a huge impact on popular culture for decades!

Just read about a couple guys from Marvel Studios raving about being on set for Thor and how awesome it was. They mentioned Odin's chamber. Thor is going to rock!

I really don't have a problem with Stan Lee's cameo's. They don't distract from the storyline at all.

In fact I prefer to suspend my disbelief with these movies as I did and still do when reading Marvel comic books with the notion that the Marvel universe is part of the real world.

With the exception of Batman and Green Lantern over at DC, it's what first drew me to Marvel comic books in the first place as a kid.

Apart from the wonderful stories, social commentary, dramatic, realistic dialogue and great character development, it was the cities and places with names I could relate to rather than the fictional cities of the DC universe.

I know it's kind of strange but that's how I've always approached the super hero genre. I would rather them inhabit my reality than to simply observe a universe I can't be part of.

I like the cameos too especially in FF1 where he's just strutting across the entryway doing a job, just a regular guy. I was thinking if the guy that created a lot of this stuff can make the scene look ordinary then it's easy to accept the outrageous looking Ben/The Thing in the same movie.

I kind of agree with KantStandYa.

At first his cameos were fairly intrusive. You wouldn't even see him in X-Men if you weren't looking for him. But lately, his cameos keep getting more obvious and the camera lingers on him too much. His worst "cameo" by far was his latest one, in the Incredible Hulk.

Alfred Hitchcock used to cameo in all his movies. But he really early on that his audience was going to spend the entire movie looking for him, so in the latter half of his career, he would put his cameo in as early as possible so as to not break up the flow of the movie when he finally did show up. I think that's the best way to handle Stan Lee's cameos. Get them out of the way early.

@M-Cat

I've always wondered if Stan was actually supposed to be playing Heffner there, or whether that was just a snide comment that RDJ made.

Going to have to disagree with you KantStandYa, I like his cameos and don't feel any of them have been forced. He's never been anything more than a glorified extra in each of the films so I don't see how it "brings you back to realworld". The only one I can think of that remotely did that was the second Fantastic Four film when he's trying to get into the wedding and the bouncer doesn't believe that he's Stan Lee.

Stan really is the man, everytime he shows up I just feel like he loved his characters so much that he jumped into the story and joined that universe, kinda like on the 90's Spider-Man animated series where Spider-Man had to stop another version of himself who combined with the carnage symbiote, stan did a guest voice as himself and he crossed paths and was saved by Spidey.

i like stan lee alot but i think his cameos almost ruin the movie for me, they are allways so unnecassary and just pointless to me. they remind me when i see them that this whole thing is fake and it brings me back in to the realworld when im tryin to get lost in the movies universe.
