Thor has always been a fan-favorite character for those who love Marvel, and with the third Marvel Studios movie centering on the superhero right around the corner in Thor: Ragnarok, there’s a lot to look forward to. Chris Hemsworth will of course be taking on the role of the titular character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe once more, while the film is written by Christopher Yost, Craig Kyle and Stephany Folsom, with Taika Waititi in the director’s chair.

Though bits and pieces of new information have trickled out throughout the past few months in regards to Ragnarok, an official summary of what we should expect was only released around a month back. However, a brand new photo from the set of the movie has now been revealed, which you can check out below.

In the behind-the-scenes picture we see Hemsworth gaining some direction from Waititi for a mystery scene in Ragnarok, but anything further than that can’t really be deciphered. The previously-released plot summary for the upcoming Marvel Studios release reads as follows:

"In Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!

"Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi and returns Chris Hemsworth starring as Thor and Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki. They are joined by Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson and Karl Urban, with Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins."

Thor: Ragnarok - Taika Waititi and Chris Hemsworth

It’s good to see that while Hemsworth is so many years into playing the Thor character, he’s still more-than-willing to take direction on the set of Ragnarok. Joined by Taika Waititi in the first look picture, the pair are deep in concentration and could be planning a hugely chaotic and dramatic scene. What exactly is going on in that scene however remains to be seen, but if this picture is a sign of the chemistry the two share, there could be an excellent MCU film in the works.

Though it’s nice to see a little something from the Ragnarok set, appetites are growing and an image straight from the movie rather than from behind-the-scenes, would likely be more appreciated at this stage. Building hype for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming is naturally the priority over Ragnarok marketing for Marvel at the time of writing this, but it's possible that the post-credits scenes for one or both of those MCU movies will have a little something in there for Thor fans to help tide them over in the meantime.
