THOR is a five Star movie , best of the best

  3. How come Guardians is always referred to as being set in the far future – the comics are set present time so I would’ve thought the movie would be set present time too.

Surprised at the amount of criticism thrown at Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 – both movies were as entertaining as hell. While I appreciated what Snyder and Goyer attempted to do with Man of Steel, which SR seem to gush over, the main problem with MoS was that it just wasn’t very entertaining. You know there is a preoblem when even the action scenes start to drag by the end of the movie.

    • The original Guardians are from 1000 years in the future.

      • But the version they are doing in the film is based on the 2008 series which is set in present day – I think the only character that is in it from the original line up is Yondu.

        • The 2008 series that introduces a time-travelling character from the original roster in its second issue? ;)

          • It’s still set present day :0P
(and Major Victory isn’t in the movie!)

  4. I agree it’s a shame that the Dark Elves were not dwelled upon.

-Taken that they’re race was older than the Asgardians/Aesir the way they were initially beaten by Bor is kind of lame, even though later in the movie the Aesir dropped life flies.
-There were no remnants of their living conditions and if the ships were it, did these lack the cloaking technology that proved to be Asgard’s demise during the invasion later in the movie?
-If I’m not mistaken the book refers to Malekith at some point threatening Odin to kill Frigga in the Junior Novel: “You will face the same choice I did. What will it be Asgardian? Your wife or your world?”
    http://roryobasan.tumblr.com/post/63302125238/spoilers-from-the-thor-the-dark-world-childrens-books
-Initially I had found absurd that Asgard was able to intervene in Earth matters way back when the Frost Giants attacked, but didn’t bother to send anyone when Malekith was releasing the Aether. Then I remembered Loki was sitting on the throne at the time and rejoiced in watching our world getting potentially destroyed.
-Finally (and this is all theory/speculation) the Tesseract is the Power gem (regardles of its color), it’s functionality is to be tapped as an unlimited source of energy, while the Aether in theory should be the Space gem, the dark matter that spreads across the Universe to expand it, during the Convergence Malekith was trying to rearrange space back into darkness.

    Just adding my fanboy two-cents.

    =0D

  5. One thing I haven’t seen addressed is wasn’t the Infinity Gauntlet already in Odin’s vault in the first Thor? Was the Gauntlet stone-less at that time? Its certainly plausible that when making Thor they didn’t have concrete plans for the future, but that kinda complicates the plots of the next phase of movies (acquiring the Infinity Stones) if the the Gauntlet already has them…

  6. My favorite part of this episode is Ben laughing as he call Rob, Vic, and Anthony crazy people. Although I would agreed Thor was my favorite phase 1 movie.

  7. If anyone wants to read the Today Show article, here it is!

Oh, and just saw Thor today. Really liked it, but I’m pretty sure Captain America: The Winter Soldier will blow it out of the water!

  8. I really liked Ben’s review of Thor 2 but I think he should have given it just that last half of a star to make it a full four stars.

Since Anthony and Rob liked Incredible Hulk I have a question. Dr. Samuel Sterns was in the Incredible Hulk and we all saw him essentially turn into The Leader. Since Incredible Hulk is considered a phase one film, with the Tony Stark credits scene, and the referencing of “breaking harlem” in the Avengers, does anyone know if The Leader will be brought back at anytime in the near future in MCU? I’m not begging or demanding for him, it just seems wrong to throw away a villain with ties to aliens, HYDRA, and a potential M.O.D.O.K and Red Hulk story lines.

    • I’m afraid that’s going to turn out to be a weird dangling plot thread too. I mean, I liked that film too, but Marvel has distanced themselves so far from it by now, that scene will probably just make first time viewers go “whaaaat?….” forever.
