‘This Is the End’ Red & Green Band Trailers: Celebrities Die by the Dozen [UPDATED]

Published 2 years ago by , Updated April 4th, 2013 at 10:18 am,

The marketing blitz for the upcoming comedy ensemble film This Is the End is getting even whackier. Starring comedian-actor friends Seth Rogen, Danny McBride (Eastbound and Down), Craig Robinson (The Office), Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel (She’s Out of Your League) and James Franco, the film is spoof of real-life, with the actors playing versions of themselves trying to survive an apocalyptic attack.

For April Fools’ Day we got a trailer within a trailer, featuring the This Is the End versions of Seth Rogen and James Franco stuck in their fallout bunker, with little else to do but create a low-rent trailer for Pineapple Express 2. While it was a nice little treat, people (me included) were no doubt waiting to see more of what this movie is actually about – and now they’re getting that, in spades.

Beyond the principal cast, This Is the End (a.k.a., “The ‘Oceans 12′ of comedy flicks”) features some pretty great cameos from other famous types (comedians and beyond), who are put to great use - as clearly evidenced from the new trailer’s horrifically hilarious moment featuring Arrested Development star Michael Cera getting brutally dispatched, or pop star Rihanna falling to her death. However, sure to take the cake is the scene of Harry Potter starlet Emma Watson wielding an ax and beating down Seth Rogen.

In many ways, this trailer finally makes it look like This Is the End could get right what last year’s big comedy team-up, The Watch (also featuring Jonah Hill, btw) got so very wrong. Comedy sci-fi horror flicks are hard to get right, for sure, but Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen (Superbad, Pineapple Express) seem to have found a way to once again make the genre-blend look good.

UPDATE: Watch the Green-Band Trailer Below!

This Is the End will be in theaters on June 14, 2013.

  1. Did anybody else notice that comedic AVENGERS round off?

  3. Does anyone know what the song from the trailer is?

    • It’s called “Whatchu Want” by Belief. I wanted to download it or at least listen to the full song, but I read that it is not available for purchase yet and will most likely be officially released before or when the film comes out (according to Seth Rogen).

  5. Did anybody else notice that shot of the comedic AVENGERS-LIKE round off?

  6. My sides have left orbit

  7. Hermione just came and stole all of our sh**. LOL.

  8. “F**k your house James Franco” is already my favorite line of dialog this year. ;)
I loved Superbad and even Pineapple Express so this seems to be a return to form for Rogan and company. I’ll rarely see a comedy in theaters but I’ll make an exception for this.

  9. The April Fool trailer actually made me want to watch Pineapple Express… and got me really curious about this movie.
So two stones in one hit! Wow…

    • Oops, was about to say ‘two birds in one stone’ but… I’m not a bird, so… well, you know what I was trying to say (English can be hard)

      • To be fair, most of the main actors in both films are known for being stoners and taking hits so you accidentally made a clever joke. haha

      • I thought it meant you got stoned twice off of one hit.

  10. Looks hilarious, keeping my fingers hoping that this will better than the last ensemble comedy…Movie 43 LOL

  11. Funny sh*t.

  12. That was hilarious!
I’ll definitely be seeing this at the theater.

  13. That made me laugh, so mission accomplished I guess

  14. Did anyone else catch Eddie Murphy in that trailer?

  15. Holy Crap this is funny as hell. I could not stop laughing. All of my favorite comedic actors are in this so I am definitely in. Plus having Emma Watson in this is a plus. “Hermione came in and stole all our s***” line was hilarious.

  16. James Franco is the white Donald Glover!

  17. I think it looks good. It has a chance at mid 20′s million opening. It will have a good hold though. Only thing is, it’s going up against Superman.

  18. lmfaoooo Hermione just robbed us loooooooooooooool i gotta see this

  19. Emma Watson?

  20. “Hermione just stole all of our sh*t.”

O, man, I can’t stop laughing. Best line ever.

  21. i can’t wait for this movie! :)
