the social network New Interactive Trailer & 4 TV Spots for The Social Network

It’s less than two weeks until the release of David Fincher’s The Social Network and by now you’ve probably already decided whether or not you want to lay down your hard-earned cash to see it in theaters.

However, if you’re still unsure, we have a cool new interactive trailer and four new TV spots to help you decide.

The Social Network is based on Ben Mezrich’s book The Accidental Billionaires and which chronicles the inception and rise of the popular social networking site Facebook, including all the blood, sweat and tears that went on behind-the-scenes between all those involved in the site’s creation.

Check out the new interactive trailer below which allows you to click on any part of the screen to learn some more info:

Now here are the four brand new TV spots for the movie:

On paper The Social Network is a cash-grabbing idea for a movie, but what we’ve seen so far actually makes it look like one of the year’s must-see films. In fact early reviews are already calling the Social Network an Oscar-worthy movie.

The fact that it’s “the Facebook movie” will draw people in (instant name recognition never hurts) but I think it’ll do well for reasons beyond that. I think people will be genuinely interested to find out where their favorite waste of time (as I’ve heard it described) came from and why it has risen to such success in such a short period of time.

Remember – before 2004 people had never even heard of Facebook and now it’s one of the most visited websites on the planet. Pretty impressive for a site created by two Harvard University students…

The Social Network stars Jessie Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield (soon to be the new Spider-Man), Justin Timberlake, Brenda Song, Rooney Mara (the new Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) and Armie Hammer. It’s written by Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing) and directed by David Fincher.

The Social Network opens in theaters on October 1st, 2010.
