I gave up on Hollywood’s “faithful-adaptation-of-a-book” promise after reading ‘Cold Mountain’ then seeing the film. What a travesty!

I found ‘The Road’ to be amazingly written, (Pulitzer) but EXTREMELY depressing. I especially didn’t care for the lack of emotion or displays of affection or even dialog between the father and son. I can see why they might have needed to add a little Hollywood touch. It would have been a real downer otherwise. (Not condoning it, just saying.)

The scene with the gun at his boys head was a nice touch that wasn’t in the book.

I am glad they expanded Charlize Theron’s role as well as more dialog for Duvall’s character. Funny thing is, I actually had Duvall in mind when reading the ‘Burning Man’ part.

I just hope they can capture the incredible inner turmoil that Viggo’s character was going through.

there will definitely be people who say it’s not true to the book but that always happens. There isn’t much the writers can do about that except not to go too far off the original. It looks pretty good to me.

Most of the reviews are on the positive side so I’m still looking forward to it. Especially after seeing Dillahunt and Duvall in those clips. Looks like pretty gripping stuff.
