Fresh off the set in New York come a slew of photos of Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson from the upcoming Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg buddy-cop comedy, The Other Guys. Those familiar with Johnson's film repertoire might be surprised to find that there is not single tutu, fairy costume or alien child associated with this latest role.

The film is a collaboration between Adam McKay (Anchorman, Step Brothers) and Chris Henchy. The pair recently worked with Henchy writing and McKay producing this summers Land of the Lost.

Set in New York City, The Other Guys follows Detective Allen Gamble (Ferrell), a forensic accountant who's more interested in paperwork than hitting the streets, and Detective Terry Hoitz (Wahlberg), who has been stuck with Allen as his partner ever since an embarrassing public incident with his quick trigger finger. Allen and Terry idolize the city's top cops, Danson and Manzetti (Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson), but when an opportunity arises for the Other Guys to step up, things don't quite go as planned.

I'm not trying to sound like a "Negative Nancy," but this film plot sound extremely similar to the 2008 adaptation of Get Smart, which Mr. Johnson was also in. Although, to be fair, the plot for the reimagined Get Smart was almost a direct rip-off of the 2003 Rowan Atkinson spy comedy, Johnny English. So, I'll be kind and accuse them of pilfering material from "Mr. Bean" rather than "Mr. Evan Almighty."

Anyway, check out a few set photos from The Other Guys:

Wahlberg and Ferrell are a new odd couple

Check out the video below, which shows the filming of a stunt from the film. While the actors are replaced by stunt men in this instance, it confirms, once again, why I never journeyed down the road of stunt man... or in my case, stunt man who cries too much.

What do you think? Is this film going to go the way of Anchorman (classic!) or does Will Ferrell have another Land of the Lost on his hands?

Expect to see The Other Guys in theaters August 6, 2010.
